@STAGENAME1 As an opera singer myself, I find that she does not have enough breath support to hold her notes long enough. She cuts them off to short! If you want to hear real opera you need to listen to Cecila Bartolie or Anna Netrebko. Those ladies can sing opera! I just feel that she should stick to the pop repertoire, or maybe continue to to work on breath control and support.

I'm from Texas and have only heard southern versions of this song, but OH MY GOSH, Katherine does an absolutely beautiful version of "Down In the River to Pray." I love it!! Simply amazing :-) I am astounded that I have not heard more about her - but I certainly will be listening to her music from now on!

If people are "eased" into buying on basis of good looks, the music at least leans to classical, and hopefully encouranges listeners to explore further classical/opera music - now that surely is not a bad thing.

For the former, I know what you mean and it's possibly better (in my opinion), as her breath control is better and she has a sweeter voice but I really like Katherine's version here if you take away the breathing part.

For the latter, I'm somewhat at odds for my favourites of Hayley's (Pokekare Ana, pour exemple), but I think I prefer Katherine's voice. It's richer and stronger.

Oh yes, I agree jolly. Alisons rendition is superb. But then, she's just got THAT kind of voice! It's just that I'm unacustomed to hearing Katherine performing this way. I'd got used to hearing her as a full scale opera singer. I'd have difficulty choosing between them, mind you. Basically because I adore ALL female vocalists. I believe they are truly earthbound angels! Do you also listen to Hayley and Celtic Woman?

Yes but she is only a great recording singer. All her notes which are normally much harsher when she sings. Are now smooth over but you can still hear the way she sings out of her nose. Listen to her live and see how different they are.

You must have rocks n your head. She recently sang the national anthem of my country Wales in front of 80,000 people in a stadium. She certainly did NOT have trouble with hitting any notes. She is an Opera class singer. What planet are you on, she sings thru her nose. I think you talk thru your ass.
