Anyone who has problem with not finding server, please do the following in your ps3. Most videos doesn't inform this but chances are this is the problem - Go to setting, network setting , and enable your media server connection ( remember to do this in the ps3). You really don't have to do this in Window Media Player. Basically, just enable server sharing on your computer and turn off your fire wall - that is pretty much all you have to do on the computer. The rest, you can do it on the PS3.

Disabling your firewall isn't necessary or advisable; just make an exception for your PS3 in your firewall's settings. (Source IP will likely start with "168.192" ie your router is acting as the gateway)

Pity this doesn't play DVD images off the harddrive though. I don't have any DLDVDs atm for burning ;(

@Atonwa55 make sure you sign on to your online account (like when your gonna playmultiplayer games) then make sure the media sharing in enable and the pc is on. It worked for me hope this helped.

Great Video Man...Not to mention the great track. Helped me get my server started, but then it didn't work later. PS3 wouldn't find media server.... tried many things, including deleting "unknown device-PS3" to try to do it over. Problem is now I can't get WMP to find said device again. Didn't know if you knew how to restore it or if I should just delete and reinstall WMP. Lemme know what you think. Thanks, Jon (frustrated videophile)

Great man! It works effortlessly! However, can you only play music found in your default "Music" folder on your PC? (i.e on the C drive that Media player uses). My music is on a seperate partition so at the moment and I have to copy the music I want to listen to into the Music folder that Media player uses.

This is a great video and very helpful but i'm stuck. When I open Media Sharing it gives me a message "Media sharing is currently disabled, either because the sharing service was not running or your firewall settings have changed. To restart sharing, you must first confirm your sharing settings."

I thought I had confirmed my sharing settings but no matter what I try I cannot get the two machinesto recognise each other. I'm getting a little frustrated and hope someone can help me.

first open up WMP and then go to library and then file sharing. from there on just follow the steps he put but also when you get to the part with the sharing to and you only see the PC icon just go to your PS3 and you will see a thing called "search for media servers on the XMB of the PS3 for video,pics and music. press X and then let it scan for any file sharing servers or anything and it will then appear on your PC side as a unknown icon. after that just allow it and then click okay.

Good video, but you don't seem to be answering viewers questions.

My problem is the media server worked well up until a couple of weeks ago. It stopped showing files from the media server that it had no problems seeing and playing before. Now It will only play 50files out of the 147. Not all of the files were compatible with the PS3 but shouldn't matter because I've always been able to atleast see them even if they don't play.

Have you had this problem before, what did you do to solve it?
