The Germans during WW1 developed the Schlieffen Plan which was intended to be a quick conquest of France via Belgium which would leave the Germans to be able to concentrate on the Russian flank. They did not invade Serbia, in fact most of Serbia already belonged to the Austro-Hungarian empire and they attacked France first, Russia afterwards.

During WW2 the factions were much different. It was pure good vs Evil, no middle ground. WW1 was different. There were no nazis. It was just a few countries fighting over trenches. Thats it. Neither of the two wars were good chapters in human history.

Eg, When the Belgians fought back, and sabotaged their rail system, the Germans did not expect this and were delayed, and responded with systematic reprisals on civilians, killing nearly 6,000 Belgian noncombatants, including women and children, and burning 25,000 houses and buildings. Prussian culture at the time was geared towards violence and war.

But the swastika itself already existed and not only it was MUCH older than the nazi party (from times of ancient India) but it was already used by many other units for different countries and wars, like the US 45th Infantry. Read Barbara Tuchman's "The Guns of August." The German's had a deliberate policy of terrorizing civilians and summarily executed thousands of Belgians and French civilians. If a town showed any resistance they killed dozens at random in collective punishment. This was policy from the first day of the war.

Barron Von Richthofen didn't want to kill, he made it very clear he was fighting for an end to the war, i respect that, and i respect all other men who were trying to end the war the only way they were allowed, by fighting. I'm not defending the Entente, they were colonial powers too. But the fact remains, France was a republic, and they also had paid severe war damage for the 1870 war (which they did according to the agreement) and in Britain the parliament (not the Queen) had the real power. In the Versailles peace of 1919 a lot of ethnic groups finally had a country of their own, which essentially spelled the end of the European empires. Later even Entente "colonies" got their independence.
You forget that the reparations of 1919 can´t be compared to 1871, the Versailles dictate ruined whole Germany and was the seed for the next war! And in many of that new states like Czech, Poland or in the lost territory Elsass-Loth. lived many Germany who were forced to be part of that new states, instead of being united with Germany. Also Austria wanted the unification with Germany.
The Versailles dictate is the main-reason for the next world war!

And no, still Elsass-Lothringen and Westpreussen were not part of Germany in 1939. Read Barbara Tuchman's "The Guns of August." The German's had a deliberate policy of terrorizing civilians and summarily executed thousands of Belgians and French civilians. If a town showed any resistance they killed dozens at random in collective punishment. This was policy from the first day of the war.

a great movie which really shows the horrors of war. Something too many men had to experience in that time and in this time. Barron Von Richthofen didn't want to kill, he made it very clear he was fighting for an end to the war, i respect that, and i respect all other men who were trying to end the war the only way they were allowed, by fighting. WWI was a tragedy, it's too bad it happened, as well as all that it's hate filled end set the course for.

@Lumophage based on the trajectory its one of 2 things: 1st, he could have been turning and gotten hit byh a stray bullet from the belly side of the plane or the more favorable 2nd, he could have not have turned and gotten hit by AA from the ground to the belly section of the plane

Actually the German historian Fritz Fischer claims that they were "proto-nazis" in WWI. After all much of the Prussian military ideals dictated Germany's policies at the time and the Kaiser had the final say in the politics.
After the Versailles treaty of 1919 many former soldiers and high ranking officers supported Hitler. General Von Ludendorff agreed to help Hitler in the failed 1923 Beer Hall coup.
Hitler was FAR from alone thinking Germany should regain its glory and power.

I'm not defending the Entente, they were colonial powers too. But the fact remains, France was a republic, and they also had paid severe war damage for the 1870 war (which they did according to the agreement) and in Britain the parliament (not the Queen) had the real power. In the Versailles peace of 1919 a lot of ethnic groups finally had a country of their own, which essentially spelled the end of the European empires. Later even Entente "colonies" got their independence.

You forget that the reparations of 1919 can´t be compared to 1871, the Versailles dictate ruined whole Germany and was the seed for the next war! And in many of that new states like Czech, Poland or in the lost territory Elsass-Loth. lived many Germany who were forced to be part of that new states, instead of being united with Germany. Also Austria wanted the unification with Germany.
The Versailles dictate is the main-reason for the next world war!

Germany had already got all their land back they lost in ww1 yet still went past the sudetenland and into the rest of czechoslovakia which was an invasion. they then invaded poland, that has nothing to do with what had been taken from them at Versailles

The versaillestreaty forced germany to give 10% of it's lands to poland. When they marched into the sudetenland they hadn't gotten a shit back from what was lost. Denmark, France, Poland and lithuania still had the old german territories.

@Senapsjonny my bad for stating all land. they had however got a significant proportion and by going past the sudetenland into the rest of czechoslovakia they were taking land that was never theirs so was an unjustified invasion regardless on whether you believe taking past occupied land back the situation was now different.

The problem was not only the territory-loss, but with the crisis the allied caused in Germany, they built the path to power for the nazis! And no, still Elsass-Lothringen and Westpreussen were not part of Germany in 1939. But if they really had made a war without winners and borders along the ethnics, there would've been never a dictatorship in Germany, a country of highest and most noble culture and science in Europe.

There would have been no ww2 if Germany had kept to themselves without invading others. Other empires may have been bad as well but they at least did not cause a world war. England did allow Germany to increase their navy overtime it would be stupid to allow them to rearm straight after ww1 though.

in this threaty they took away pieces of german land and divided it under the neighbours of germany and germany was forced to pay an enormous amount of money, that caused the bankrupt and unemployment

I´m brave and say Germany didn´t cause any of the world-wars. Germany did indeed plan for a war with France and Russia in 1905 already, when Von Schieffen devised his plan (which was used in 1914 by Von Moltke).
Germany invaded neutral Belgium, sank the Lusitania and sent the Zimmerman telegram.
