the only downside with 2.4 is that it is a lot more sensitive (well not that much) to mobile & data signals (wifi) so they are more likely to have interferance close to telpephone masts etc. But that is very, very, very unlikely to happen. Most radios use the F.A.S.T. system, it just happens once in a while that for a second that to channels are the same. There is a vid here on youtube with a guy getting interface from a smartphon. But dont worry it rarely happens.
I believe because they carry the same technology as the big ones. to make anything smaller but still have everything the same as the big ones cost alot of money. I'm sure as parts/fabrication and manufacturing become easier, the prices will drop. who knows when that will be.lol
