The reason you can kinda hear the beat is because it's playing in his headphones loud as fuck and the mic is picking up the little bit that seeps out...
Yeah i suppose i didn't consider the possbility of shabby recording conditions. I figured bigger labels that signed dudes like mobb deep would have good quality recordings in their best interests as well.
if u understand the background of these artists you would understand that lots of hip hop was not recorded in amazing studios with the biggest paid engineers. a lot of it was done on a budget, record companies weren't prepared to give money up front to rappers. lol
@AntnysWorld Oh thats true, didnt even cross my mind. Would have thought these acapellas were recorded in professional studios in the 90's...where audio engineers are observant of headphone bleed! Obviously not. Cheers bud! makes much more sense
@pungisotu Nah not true bro. Official acapella releases (i.e ones cleared by the record label) will never contain remnants of the beat. The only reason you can hear a little bit of the beat in the background is because someone employed a phase-cancelling technique that cuts a majority of the beat out. Even if done perfectly, through this technique you will never get a clean acapella.
@pungisotu Youve got the actual pella on vinyl? I prob dont have to say this, but anyone can rip an acapella from the mp3/wav and upload it and call it the original 12" release, even if it isnt really. If you actually have it on a vinyl record and you can hear the beat, then thats really strange! Its no issue, even back in the 90s, to simply record the vocal track alone without the beat for vinyl, so i wonder why. It may have been a legal struggle getting the pella cleared for the LP relesease
@pungisotu I record in a studio and then mix down the vocals. The music you hear is the bleed from the headphones, you're able to hear the music that he's listening to whilst rapping. Because the microphones are so sensitive it's almost impossible to record without it. You'll find it in almost any one you listen to.
@DjViRuSx the beat you hear in the background is leaking from his headphones when he records it, if it was a diy acapella youd be able to tell, this is official
@DjViRuSx that music ur hearing is the headphones in the vocal booth coming thru on the mic. the gate on the compressor, probably an Avalon VT-737SP, is set a lil high so the compressor is allowing any noise to come thru the mic, that's all it is ppl.
@Psychkid90 It isn't beat turned down man.. P have headphones on his head, right? Microphone take some sound from headophones, I think it ain't hard to understand.
yea its from the headphones

It isn't real acapella if you just turn the beat down afterwards.. -.-

@Psychkid90 tell that to Havoc. It is the official acapella. Lots of rap acapellas are released like this. Nas' It Ain't Hard to Tell for example.

@Psychkid90 What you're hearing is the microphone picking up the beat from within Prodigy's headphones as he's rapping.
