You can't see much out of these guys' brutal fighting skills in this clip, this is a tournament and they are limited to the TAG game rules. You sure will get stone if you see their free style fighting (Ju Kumite) in a class practice. I am a doing shotokan for eight years and can imagine how impressive they could be if you see them live.
Can anybody identify these karateka? I'm pretty sure that no. 1 is Takeshi Oishi and one of the bearded men is Masahiko Tanaka. But am not positive in either case --
...correction, these Guys would Knock MMA fighters out. I respect the MMA but unless ur made of rock, u cannot survive the salvo of kicks and punches these guys dish out long enough to hold them!
@hiranom20 You're pretty wrong there dude. I can speak from experience enough to say that having only one fighting style against an MMA fighter, especially one who's an experienced grappler, won't have you lasting long. A smart MMA fighting would simply take them to the ground where there punches and kicks would be pretty ineffective. I've had it done to me, so I know.
@UndeadPyro If you master shotokan well you will know how to use his own power against him. And it takes one good hit to knock him down before he even takes you to the ground.
@PaKyYyY1 grappling is great one on one, but useless against multiple enemies. Shotokan - even as good as this - often favors clean strikes to the torso that wouldn't be effective in reality. Not one system alone, especially as practiced today, is without fault.
@johndoeshar That depends on the rules....MMA doesn't allow small joint manipulation or downward elbow strikes.Karateka master both ;) I'd take any of these guys against an MMA guy.
