Love this jam...Never knew that Minnie recorded under another name...I like this as a R&B/Soul record...Didn't know she had this in her spirit! I like, I like!
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Andrea (Minnie Riperton) at Chess records. Minnie became a friend of our group (The X-Citers) and often frequented the clubs where we performed. The rhythm section of the X-Citers (Warren Hagood II - drums, Sidney Pinchback - guitar, and me David Henderson - bass) recorded on this song, and the flip side. Leonard Caston was Co-producer, initial arranger and more.
@fhiuadshfiudshfgiads The people in power at Chess records for some reason thought by putting the record out under the the name of Andrea Davis, the songs would get more airplay on the stations that normally did not play soul music. They ciould have done it like the others (Pay for play).
