Ok.. I'm 14. Don't smoke. Don't chew Tobacco. And.. I guess a couple days ago i notice this little lump on the side of my tongue. It hurts from time to time.. And it doesn't bleed when i mess with it.. So... Do you think i should go to the doctor? Thing is.. If i do have a cancer on my tongue and i need surgery.. I'm so scared. clear bubble thing under my toungue, when i touch it it gets red and inflammed, then when I leave it it shrinks and gets small as if its about to dissapear.. yesterday I messed with it again and now its got big again, it looks like a clearish red bubble with maybe liquid or something inside.. dentist said it maybe a blocked gland..its been another week and its still there, is it possible its cancer?

Alright guys heres the deal, I'm 22 years old and I am in college. I probably smoke between 2-4 cigarrettes a week, and I'll have a dip every so often if some of my friends are doing it. This has been going on for about 2 years. For the last two weeks, I've had a clear bump on the inside of my cheekin the form of a canker sore. Is it possible that I've got mouth cancer?

@stlouisss1622 Sounds like a mucocele (mew-ko-seal). They form when the area is really irritated. I get them from time to time from biting my cheek so much. It's filled with saliva. You have nothin to worry about :)

Here is my little long story, i was fixing my front tooth, and i swallowed a gum, and it got stuck in my throat, so i felt like i was going to die, because i felt like i can't breath or anything, btw now, there is a very weird sound in my throat, and sometimes i feel like something stuck & and i can't eat till now, i can't eat any thing, or it will be stuck, i did make an xRAY to see if something stuck, but thers nothing. so is thers anyway i can make an xRAY to see if i got anything else ?

I am very scared about geting mouth cancer i heard you can get it from bleaching your teeth and using mouth wash with alcohol in it. i whiten my teeth with the gel and trays nearly every day sometimes several times and use whitening tooth paste and a whitening wash which has alcohol in it it really burns when i use the mouthwash after. i am terrified of getting mouth cancer if i go to my dentist regulary will he detect anything abnormal straight away? should i stop the bleaching of my teeth??

Supposedly the tongue almost NEVER succumbs to infection. The cells regenerate at such a rapid rate that the bacteria associated with infection does not have time to grow. Infection on the tongue??? Check it out... most likely NOT an infection.

I have a small lump that looks like a white zit on the side of my tongue and also I have a white area that my dic said is an ulsar due to my chrones. Idk what to do anymore. @DrDoom760 - i think your parents would appreciate it if you told them the sad truth. If it truely is cancer, the key to successfull tratment is early detetion. Your parents might be upset, dissapointed, and frusturated with you, but in the end they will prefer that you tell them and get treated, then you keep this to yourself and die from it. i hope this helps.

im not sure what i have...its like a lump with an indention but its not painless..im some what a heavy smoker and hardly almost never brushed my until recently...i hope its nothing serious

My dad, pack to two pack a day smoker, started as a sore on the tongue thought it was canker sore... Warm water with salt, blah blah, kept smoking, let it go 4 months... now his tongue has a 1.5"x 1" indent like sore on it that is white and probably the grossest thing i have ever seen. He refused to go to the doctor, my mom took his side, after i saw this thing i demanded they go to a doctor. They did, it is cancer.... Dont wait, check it out...

Rear 555 - You defintely better get to a dentist ASAP. Bleeding gums can be gingivitis which in time your teeth will loosen and fall out - if you don't get it taken care of at the dentist. I'm 20 years old and have been smoking since I was 18. I'm trying to quit. I noticed a little bit of white on the floor of my mouth under my tongue. Not a bright white and not that noticeably but it kind of scares me.

Does anyone have an idea of what it could be? Is oral cancer common for people of my age?

It sounds like you have what is known as hyperkeratosis, or when the lining of your mouth gets thicker to try and protect itself (from the smoking). The floor of the mouth however is what is known as a 'high risk' site for developing oral cancer and especially since you have one of the most dangerous risk factors (smoking) it would be worth going to your dentist for your peace of mind. They may say its nothing or they may want to monitor the area or take a biopsy. Ne1 can get oral cancer

it's probably your wisdom teeth beginning to grow in.  If they cause discomfort your dentist will tell you if they need to be removed. Usually wisdom teeth are removed even if they are not causing any problem

Hmnn,....I have a few "lumps" or whatever,that are bleeding,and i find them to be irritationg,especially when swallowing,unfortunatly i have worked in an esphestos filled factory almost 15yrs,and as well,i was a smoker while working there as well,the town has since demolished this old factory(one an arsenol in ww1/and ww2)Ive since head about cover-ups in this town becasue allot of former employees have since died who worked there,and the land is so poluted with lead they cant move it out...

Have your mouth examined first by a dentist then by an oral cancer specialist, your main concern should be in these two areas; cancer of the throat and \ or cancer of the esophagus.

Most people do not get cancer of the mouth, your growths may be hereditary, but you can develope inflammation of mouth tissue beneath your gumline and within the lining of your mouth, any swelling, pain or discharge see your dentist as soon as possible, better safe than sorry.

No way! It could be a local infection or even something you ate!

Do not be scared! Get it checked out and I am sure you will be fine.The lump on your tongue may in fact be an ulcer.
