guys come on research the invention before criticizing it, almost all the things u guys say are bad about it are not true. why's does everyone love to hate? this is a good invention, look it up :)
1. put in contaminated fluid that can release H20 molecules. 2. Run a generator that nukes bacteria, uses varying distilling temperatures until water is isolated. 3. exhaust or capture inorganic/organic contaminents
:::::::::::
The generator turns outside heat into electricity.
:::::::::::
It gets you water, but it creates some pollution. Could I think of a better system? Yes. Regardless, the issue is that this device is unaffordable in foreign countries.
it doesnt create pollution because if you had looked it up, in other videos, dean kamen explains how his purifier works, it actually heats the water up to a point that it will completely turn to vapor (while saving energy because he made it able to run on about half the power that runs a hairdryer) and then recondense it into pure water. it costs under $2000 so it is affordable, and can feed a village of 100 a day. there's also a version that can run on cow or camel dung in the middle east
If this thing cost me $1000 each I'll buy 10 right now and give 9 of them to whoever need them. Come on Dean, ask Bill Gates to help you, he spent billions a year trying to save the world. I think you should ask for his help.
I'm having trouble understanding how this thing would remove organics like methanol or gasoline from the water. Does anyone know? Because it looks like it would not.
The show host should not say that Dean invented this thing. Vapor compression distillation is nothing new. Just google it. One of the more interesting applications is in the Int'l Space Station, where it is used to recyle the urine of the astronauts.
The people with money decided that people without money can't afford it, and Dean Kamen doesn't have 3 billion dollars to give them to all of the world.
Man. Why is this invention not in the primary focus of the entire country? Oh yeah, I know. It's because we no longer have any control over "our" country. Let's take it back. by any means.
i agree that colbert does his interviews leaning toward getting ratings and being entertaining, it is on the comedy channel after all. However, he does give some very good information to a large group of people who would othewise be completely oblivious to these topics.
Actually, I have seen dozens of people on the show talking about serious issues in Colbert's slapstick way. And, why don't you pay attention for the next week and seen if you can find any racial preference in guest choice.

I find it easy to believe it took so long for colbert. He's only interested in entertainment. I think it's safe to say that every interview on CR has nothing to do with awareness of issues, only ratings calculations.
Colbert is so fucking ignorant....

I agree with blogegog. I'm not grasping how he is removing a variety of organic based products.

Actually there already are water wars in many parts of the world and even there are certain states arguing over the "rights" for the use of water.

@jsmith2007LOL Not sure if he funded this research specifically, but Bill Gates has funded Dean Kamen a lot.

Type only after you stop laughing at the injected laughter in the background, and after getting your mind back. Then think.
Only then, you can type congruent words.

chaosworshipper - Actually, people tend to breed more when faced w/ poverty and disease.
See for yourself, Western countries w/ clean water and low disease rates have lower birth rates.
The babies that die 'need' to be replaced, hence the high birth rate.
powmadeak47 3 years ago
@powmadeak47 also people without the "distractions" of western society tend to breed more for obvious reasons.

Awesome. He wipes out 50 % of human disease, death rate drops, world population grows even faster. Yay!
