  • What's in that cabnet behind you? Why?

  • Nice use of the microsoft old film grain effect there.

  • I really like the starting rythm but i think your snare sounds really low and deep, in my opinion with a sharper sound it would be nicer, but its my opinion.

    Great anyway

  • love the rythm :D

  • The ride sounds awesome, what type is it?

  • My favorite jazz kit nice set

  • you dont play like that on a jazz kit!!!! you need to play smooth on that kit!

  • i like it !! =)

  • Sing Sing Sing!!!

  • the first part is that from tokyo jihen - killer tune song?

  • that bass sounds like a BEAST (in a good way LOL)

  • Wauw! Fucking nice drum rhytms you use there show me how to do ? :D

  • Get a rail consolette mount - they look killer, even if they're a little expensive. Pure class.

A newer one would be better, if you're in the USA then you'd have to go DW or Gibraltar, but if you're Europe head over to ST drums.

    My £0.02...

  • @lordieuan777 I absolutely agree

  • the bass with no tom mount allows it to resonate more, and same for the tom

  • pretty sweeet kit :)

    good playing aswell!

  • I think that a virgin bass drum and a stand mounted tom sound better, but that's just my opinion. No, you can't get the mini mod with a tom mount.

  • I want just the kick drum. Best part.

  • do you use a bass drum riser?

  • it comes with one on this set.. cause its only like an 18 inch kick drum.. so you have to raise it in order to have your pedal hit it right in the sweet spot

  • Try This: Remo coated Emperors top of toms, Fiberskin 3 on bottoms, Emperor X coated on snare top, ambassador on snare side, Fiberskin 3 on bass kick side, coated logo on front of bass. Catalina Jazz Mahogany record excellent* Tone is Top for less than high end series.

I love my Gretsch Catalina Jazz

    *check my demo *

  • I got exactly the same one and the floor tomS sound amazing together where is the other one and your med tom?

  • what set are you talking about : /

  • the blackhawk gretsch ex series

  • this is a catalina club jazz 4 pc

  • oooh they look the same

  • ya this the blackhawk and the club rock all look the same except for the different sized bass drum and toms

  • dude crazy nice

  • how's the bass drum on this? I'm looking at getting it but I'm unsure. What can you say about it as a whole?

  • I have this same set, and I had the same concern when I bought it. The bass drum is small, but you can get a really good punch out of it. I use an Evans EMAD batter head, and it sounds really nice in my opinion.

  • You need to hold your sticks so the tops of your hands are parallel with the ground. The ride cymbal should be the only part of the drumset that you should hit while holding the sticks like you do. At least that was what I was taught. :]

  • got this kit for christmas! its amazing

  • Is this a catalina club jazz set ?

  • yes

  • the bass drum sounds really good!

  • is this an older model of the catalina? The one's i'm looking into buying all have the suspened tom mount.

  • I got one with the suspended tom mount, and i couldn't figure it out. I attached it to a cymbal stand, but it made my cymbal fall over. I ended up using a snare stand.

  • i depends on what type of catalina your looking for... this is the ccj484 model. it is strait jazz.

  • ME TOO!

    the 8 inch?

yeah it made my cymbals fall over, but i got it, its just not like tight on the stand or anything...

    idk..

  • you have to make one of the "legs" point to the front. that way, it wont fall. like. parallel to your sight when drumming.

  • Need to learn how to tune your drums. Your cymbal selection sucks too.

  • thanks for all the HELPFUL comments. what's with you yrrepzepol?

  • wait my cymbals?

  • i know. it doesn't get much better than A customs. well, except for maybe sabian B8's. (lol jk)

  • cymbal selection is a preference, if there good quality, an so is tuneing as long as u use the right methods

  • hey dude is this kit worth buying?

  • I have it as my second set. i use it for my jazz/funk gigs. i really like it its gets the job done. and is very durable which is good for me cause i take them everywhere

  • I'm saving up for this kit so I can have a appropiate kit for my jazz gigs

  • Im really thinking about getting my first set, what should i get? The music store has a Ludwig accent set with all he hardware and cymbals and stuff. For about 600 bucks. What should i get?

  • i recommend orange county custom drums but if youre not filthy rich then DW collector series or Tama Starclassics or if you want somethin cheap just get a tama rockstar or superstar or somethin

  • I want the set in rustic red....Damnit. I've got the money but I also want a new rifle....haha.

  • mhhh i think you'll have more opportunities to use a drumkit than a rifle, no?

  • depends not if our in the army ;D

  • Way to go kid, keep playing. This is where it starts and who knows where it goes.

  • What heads are you using on the toms?

  • could you give me a price on your cymbals?

  • wat symbols are those==

and how much do they cost?

  • there zildjian A custom cymbals and there not as expensive as K's

  • i have the same kit and i love it its a great set

  • Really liked this, you have some really good skills and you know how to use your kit. I'm thinking of picking up one of these kits now, some great vids of them on here.

  • awesome dudee.... Loved the gene krupa style

  • 18"

    Packs quite a punch.

  • dude, not bad at all. i wouldn't be worried about the quality of any of that. keep it up. right now i'm still playing the same ludwig rocker set that i learned on 7 years ago and i've decided i'm totally getting this kit. either in the white or the rustic pearl (new). absolutely gorgeous. thanks a lot man. i like your drumming and your setup.

  • Oh, and stop criticizing, he's not trying to be perfect, it says so in the description

  • what's the sticking ?

  • Hehe nice jazz beat. That reminds meof Gene Kruppa and "Sing Sing Sing" song =) Nice tom work

  • haha finally someone knows where the beath is from

  • Hehe greetings for Argentina! What really sound great with that beat is to play the drums.. how to say it.. like twice the times of the hihat so the beat will be bass - bass+hihat - bass -- bass+hihat adn so on. its hard but sound awesome ;) see you!

  • nice a cusotms zildjians the best

  • ehhh their pressed :/

  • nice man, smooth transitions!

  • Sounds like a broken camshaft in small block cheverolet 350 cu.......clean it up bro.

  • FunKay!

    nice one!

  • I really liked it. The jazz in the beginning is sweet. I just bought this kit so I'll have to try that floor tom bit.

  • Loved that poppy march type thing near the end bloody brilliant man

  • goofy sets? those were the original sets....

  • I just love the way Gretsch 22"/18" bass drums sound. It has this 'punch' that'd sound wicked live.

  • i like ur cymbals...how much were they? or did they come w/ the set?

  • 500 something for all cymbals

  • whoa... nice

  • u should get a 24" bass drum...thats wat sick

  • whoa...u got 1 those goofy sets w/ only 1 tom? nice drumming

  • I enjoyed the beginning with the all the jazz, and the middle.

But I would suggest when drumming to always work with a metronome. we drummers are not machines - though we try - and need help staying on time. You did decently, but a metronome will improve you as a drummer exponentially.

  • yeah i've been meaning to get a metronome

cuase i know i need to try to perfect my timing

or at least get close to perfection lol

  • i just bought that kit man. Its a killer i love it. but i can't get the 12 inch tom to sound right... what do u do

  • i just messed with mine...im really picky about the tuning on my set... i like that sort of fat sound instead of the high tone sound. so i dont tighten the head much

  • if you tune it low crank it a little bit. don't forget the bottom head that could be tuned badly.

  • true good point

  • get a drum dial

  • how much " is that base?

  • zildjian A custom 14"

  • Sounds good man!

  • WOAH!

i thought catalina's were meant for jazz?!

anyway, no offence, but i didnt like it.

    your alrite.

in 3 years, ill enjoy wathcin you. : P

    LOL

    no offence meant...

  • i like how you can make a criticism with out saying he shamed his kit or kussing at him.

  • Five stars xDD ;!

  • what style is this ??? is the song of TARZAN ???xDD

  • very nice kit. im playing a renown maple gretsch american series.

and by the way, in the drummers vids on my prof. , that is not me playing.

  • can i ask what your doing to your bass drum to get that sound? its very punching...my is very alike but i have a porthole in mine, thus adding a little more bass...but what are you doing to your bass drum?

  • well all i've used is the Evans Emad 2 drum head and placed the small muffling ring that it comes with...that's pretty much it

  • so you just replaced the stock drumhead with the evans?

  • yeah ...

well actually i got it for free when i bought the set cuase the original one was beaten up bad

so i save a couple of bucks =]

  • is your set in the silver or white marine pearl?

  • marine pearl

  • awsome playing man...love the kit

  • Cute bass drum.

  • how the hell does that tinny little bass give such a punch! i dont get it.

  • cause it's a Gretsch!

  • hey i got a ? You can re use drum heads right?

  • yes you can

  • u can but that doesn't always mean it's good to...they will be stretched out if transferred to another drum they more than likely won't sound as good as they could...it's like if u over tune new coated heads, then u tune them back down

  • I love aquairans, they're my favorite brand

  • it is the snare, strainer is too loose.

  • your cymbals are hitting the tom! whats up with that ! place them higher. your snare sounds like crap dude! other than that you are great

  • cymbals dont even touch the tom...plus i like placin them low so i wont have to smack the crap out of them...

the snare does sound like crap

i fixed it up now by placing a different head on the bottom

still sound weird but way better than before

  • What are the sizes (width x dept)?

  • Snare is 14 X 5.5

    small Tom is 12 x 8

    floor Tom is 14x14

    Bass Drum is 18 x 16

  • look at my videos

  • about 4 years i think

  • how long u been playing?

  • it's a catalina bop kit

  • Grestch all the way, is that a catilla?

  • nice

  • ha yeah the snare head is kinda fucked up...i've been meaning to get a new one but i just havent done it yet

  • is that the snare that comes with the Gretsch Catalina i might be getting one for 700$ PLZ HELP!!

  • yeah that's the snare that comes with the kit

  • dude...nice kit...something weird about your snare...maybe the wires...or mabeeee just the mic..nice playing
