@yanderith Yo estoy de acuerdo, María Julia es una de las latinas y Miss Mundo mas bellas de la historia y no soy peruano. Este concurso ignora mucho a las latinas para la corona y la mayoría de las veces se queda en Europa, por eso tiene un gran mérito su corona, así como la de la actual reina venezolana. En México nos hemos quedado con las ganas dos veces de esta corona, como en este 2005 y en 2009, con Perla Beltrán que aun nos duele su derrota ante Gibraltar. En fin, saludos desde México.
Me tienen chato con tanta pelea entre paises, Julia Morley se ensaño con darle la corona a Europa por que el Miss Universo se descuadro entregando el titulo a Latinoamerica e ignorando a Europa durante años. At the beginning, I also judged her based on the gown (it is so ordinary) like you did. However, I know admit that she is the most beautiful girl amongst the finalists when I take a look at her pictures on Miss World website. This low quality video somehow degrades her natural beauty. Mexico is also awkward and Puerto Rico is too plastic. Italy should have replaced Mexico.

Algún compromiso político tenían con ese país, que le dieron el título en esa ocasión ya por tercera vez (antes se lo dieron también en 1985 y en 1988). Desde hacía 17 años no se lo daban. Lo que creo es que Miss World está dirigido a un público y Miss Universe a otro.
Mientras que el Miss Universe es más popular en Estados Unidos, Latinoamérica y Asia, el Miss World es más popular en Europa y algunos países de África y Medio Oriente que por ejemplo participan aquí y no en el Miss Universe. Creo que esa es la razón por la que aquí se ven más ganadoras de Europa.

@yanderith Yo estoy de acuerdo, María Julia es una de las latinas y Miss Mundo mas bellas de la historia y no soy peruano. Este concurso ignora mucho a las latinas para la corona y la mayoría de las veces se queda en Europa, por eso tiene un gran mérito su corona, así como la de la actual reina venezolana. En México nos hemos quedado con las ganas dos veces de esta corona, como en este 2005 y en 2009, con Perla Beltrán que aun nos duele su derrota ante Gibraltar. En fin, saludos desde México.

Me tienen chato con tanta pelea entre paises, Julia Morley se ensaño con darle la corona a Europa por que el Miss Universo se descuadro entregando el titulo a Latinoamerica e ignorando a Europa durante años. Ahora respecto a las protaganistas de ese año Unnur bella (coincido el vestido no fue el adecuado) Dafne linda e Ingrid Sexy y bella. At the beginning, I also judged her based on the gown (it is so ordinary) like you did. However, I know admit that she is the most beautiful girl amongst the finalists when I take a look at her pictures on Miss World website. This low quality video somehow degrades her natural beauty. Mexico is also awkward and Puerto Rico is too plastic. Italy should have replaced Mexico.

In addition, in 1983, Unnur Steinsson - mother of MISS WORLD 2005 also joined in MU 1983. That is the reason why Unnur Birna becomes so pretty like this. I just wonder no one realized that Her Mom was pregnant in MW. MW 1983 took place in 11/1983, and Unnur Birna was born on 5th, 1984.

There IS A CONINCIDENCE that MOTHER of Miss World 2005 - Unnur Birna , used to take part IN MISS WORLD 1983. In this contest, her MOM - Unnur Steinsson - won the third place. The amazing point is that when SHE WAS TAKING PART IN MW 1983, she was PREGNANT for three months, BUT NO ONE REALIZE THIS. And surely, that baby IS MISS WORLD 2005 - Unnur Birna. SO WE CAN SAY THAT Unnur Birna JOINED IN MW TWICE in her life.

@GIA13615093. Oh, my... So ignorant.... Even Miss World 2005 in an interview confessed that Her Mom was pregnant during MW 1983. And she also said she was proud to win the title Miss World - the thing that her mom cound not do in 1983.

I only watch beauty pageants. I don't research & follow every contestants life and interviews. But I tried to look for Miss World 1983 but I could not find her mom there. Was she in the Top 5 or Top 10? Did her mom represent Iceland too?

Que horror este concurso , es primera vez que me detengo a ver estos videos , la verdad que soy experto en MU. y debo de admitir que las 5 MW de Venezuela sn las mas bellas que han habido...pero esta chica de este año que horrorrrr, la de Mexiuco tampoco me gustana asi que no dgan que le robaron la corona...en este 2009 pasado Siiiiiiii les robaron la crona a Perla Beltran.....que horrror esta Julia Moorley..

Esa islandesa elegida Miss Mundo este año es hija de que la representó a ese mismo país en dicho evento en 1982. Chepa Candela comentó que su belleza "es tan común como corriente". Algún compromiso político tenían con ese país, que le dieron el título en esa ocasión ya por tercera vez (antes se lo dieron también en 1985 y en 1988). Desde hacía 17 años no se lo daban. Debe haber sido que en 2005 resurgieron los compromisos políticos.

En 2004, si fueron los votos del pùblico, los que determinaron a la gandora. En 2005, cambiò el sistema y en efecto solo determinaron a las semifinalistas.

I agree that her gown is not so shiny, but she is the most beautiful one amongst the six finalists. If you watch another video of hers such as Miss World 2006 -Vote For Me ( check out YouTube) , you'll find her extremely natural beauty.
I'm not Icelandic but she is beautiful.

Esto fue un robo!!! esa tipeja sera linda pero nada mas, tiene la PEOR pasarela del mundo y tenia el peor traje esa noche(seguida por Korea) ese a~o la corona era para Puerto Rico o Mexico, una de esas 2 merecia la corona ya que eran mas bellas y con mejor pasarela, opacaron a la ganadora sin pena alguna, creo k hasta le aplaudieron mas ellas cuando fueron llamadas k a la misma "reina"

Hmmm... cuando anuncien a la ganadora, ademas de la banda y la corona deberian darle un ramo de flores porque cuando la reina hace su primer paseo como reina se le ve torpe.. con una mano saluda y con la otra que??? Miren nomas a esta reina como al principio se le olvida saludar y camina como tarada!!!

Ps fijate me he puesto a pensar en eso, hay rumores de que Julia Morley elige a la ganadora, por ejemplo, aqui la mexicana y la boricua opacaron a la ganadora sin piedad y en el 2008 en el top 5 pusieron a India y Angola que no lo merecian, mejores eran Puerto Rico y Venezuela.. y tienes razon, Maju hasta ahora es la ultima latinoamericana que ha ganado y son pocas las latinoamericanas que ganan, aqui hay gato encerrado...

no bori y lo peor del certamen del 2008 fue colocar a southafrica en las semifinalistas..es como dicen en mi pais...pagan y se dan su vuelto!! que de lo ultimo hasta el animador se presto y dijo quien falta??? y el publico surafrica!!! a mi me parecio una falta de respeto..y si tenia que haber ido las que mencionaste...bueno esperemos que este año gane una latina que a mi parecer lo dudo...a esta vieja le gusta mucho las rubias!!! Bueno en mi opinion Sudafrica si lo merecia porq a mi me gusto aunq no ganara, pero meter entre las 5 a Angola e India!! Hola, qué bueno encontrar gente chévere!!! Normalmente aquí sólo se ven peleas. Soy de Perú y es un gusto intercambiar ideas por aquí con respeto. En cuanto a lo que comentan tú y boricua15able, pues yo no creo que sea preferencia o que la traiga en contra de las latinas. Lo que creo es que Miss World está dirigido a un público y Miss Universe a otro.

Mientras que el Miss Universe es más popular en Estados Unidos, Latinoamérica y Asia, el Miss World es más popular en Europa y algunos países de África y Medio Oriente que por ejemplo participan aquí y no en el Miss Universe. Creo que esa es la razón por la que aquí se ven más ganadoras de Europa.

por eso se ha tenido ganadoras de asia, ocenia, africa y america!!! cosa que si haz visto aca que en esta decada casi todas son europeas, con alguna que otra diferencia, por ejemplo este año la ganadora indiscutible era perla pero gano gibraltar que a mi parecer no era pero no me meto en esos asuntos!!! un placer conocerte y felicidades peru es el unico pais latino en esta decada de miss world que dio corona para latinoamerica..saludos
