Just ordered parts to build an i7-920 system w/ 6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM, and 2 275 GTXs. Also getting the 2233rz Samsung true 120Hz monitor with the NVidia 3D Vision glasses. (Never tried the NVidia 3D Vision, but it comes with the monitor so why not -- 120Hz LCD -- who can pass that up? 120 FPS with Vsync? Yes please.) $2,600 for everything built from the ground up. I'm planning on OCing the i7 to about 3.6/3.8GHz on stock voltage.
I have a gtx 275 and get about 22 fps in crysis at 1920 x 1080 with NO AA...When I enable AA to 16x, I only drop 1 or 2 fps but why is my overall FPS so low? I expected a much higher fps outta this card. Maybe theres a bottle neck somewhere. My cpu is a q6600 at 2.4 (can't OC on this cheap ECS 680i mobo...Running 4 gigs of g.skill 1066 ddr2, 850 watt power supply...I'm gonna get a new mobo and processor soon. I hope it helps.
no core 2 quads cant be bottle necked easy. my core 2 quad has 2x 4870x2's and the it runs just fine. of course you have to overclock like theier is no tommaro :P
Core 2 Quads don't get bottlenecked as easily as Core 2 Duos but a lot of it depends on the clock speed. If you have a Quad core at 3.4GHz+ you will most likely not have a bottleneck with any graphics card setup.
A 2.4GHz stock clock Q6600 will bottleneck a multiple graphics card setup. Clock to 3.0+ and you'll be happy.
WhoTubeProductions, the bottlenecks are the video cards. It's been that way for years now. The 920 is easily overclockable to about 4GHz on stock voltages which provides way more than enough CPU power to allow the video cards their full potential. Typically 3GHz is the "critical mass" for gaming. Going above that doesn't increase performance all that much.
witha gtx 260 on a 750i board, and only with 1 gtx 260 on high settings with no fps i get around 30-50 fps, very high goes about 20-30, so if my 260 is getting the same as his 275, maybe the pci bus sint functioning as well as it could be
so you can tell a huge difference between the SLI and just using one gtx 275? are both cards in 16x pci-e slots? i have a single 275 FTW with a core i7 920 and i am thinking of getting a second card. the only prob is that i only have only 1 16x slot and 2 that are 8x. not sure if i will be very limited by the 8x slot...
There is virtually a 100% return on the second card meaning I get about double the framerate. If the slots are PCI-Express x8 2.0 then you will be fine getting a second card. PCI-E 2.0 doubled the bandwidth and the 275s don't go over the bandwidth, proof is in the GTX 295, 2 GTX 275s worth of power but all going through one slot.
i got a e8400, striker 2 formlua (780i) and 8 gigs of pc6400, i have just ordered a 275 and im runnign windows 7 rc1 64bit, i will be running the game at 1200p what fps should i expect in crysis/warhead? and is it worth getting anouther 275 and run in sli? (i used ot have 9800gt sli - IT FAILED) how effecent is 275 sli? thx if u could help.
hey, i have some money burning a hole in my pocket and i want to either go sli with my other GTX 275 ftw or buy a 470. what you suggest?

@doomtomb3 how did u get crysis run on vista 64bit dx10. mine displays black screen and freezes albeit i have the same setup as ur,s........
what am i supposed to do.

everything higher than 3.5 ghz increases min. fps but not average or max. So your cpy is fast enough for the grafics card!

he! i also got a q9550@3.6Ghz and i am considering about buying a second gtx275!!!!
cool!!!

how come your memory speed on your gtx 275 is only 1500??
Paulrerepc 2 years ago
It wasn't 1500, it says 1224MHz but you multiply by 2 because it's GDDR3 (double data rate)

Could an i7-920 run a EVGA GTX275 (Dual-SLI) without a bottleneck?

oh yeah. easy..

with EVGA GTX275 SLI, Intel i7-920, 6GB 1600MHz RAM, and 1000W Power Supply how would Crysis run at completely maxed out quality?

yes

at stock clocks the 260 is better then the 275. that is if your 260 is the core 216 version.
chorinicpker 2 years ago
well im getting 2 gtx 295's in sli mode now anyway :P
so all is good haha
souperman12345 2 years ago
u have to overclock your 9550 to like 4.2ghz though.

Is that possible?
(no sarcasm here)

2 GTX 275 Can Get 60FPS.
Depends on what resolution.
1980x1080 Can handle it on 60FPS.
