Yea, there's a groove, there are chops, and he sticks with it, but there's not much phrasing or much sense in what he plays. Music is a language. And Dave is coming out and saying 'HEY!! Antidisestablishmentarianism!!­!' (and several other long, complicated words). Sure, it's cool, and there's merit for it somewhere, it just doesn't make sense.

Technique of musicianship? Come ON!! Hands down, Weckl wins the game. Period.

For me, Dave Weckl is the perfect drummer, perfect technique, he shows unique idea on drums and he controls everything, independance, coordination, dynamic. My very best drummers: Virgil Donati, Vinnie Colaiuta, Thomas Lang, Buddy Rich, Neil Peart jsut to name a few.

Yeah I take that back...there is no comparison between the two. Ulrich can't touch Weckl. They aproach the the kit way too different to even begin to compare. Plus Ulrich is kind of limited to one genra of music. Weckl is very well rounded and fluent in lots of different genra's and styles of music and drumming.

Maybe some of his footwork I can see that...not necessarily making him "better" than Weckl. Without a doubt, Ulrich is a pretty decent drummer.
