Yoshi9Rocks123: I hate them too. If I could change one thing about Mario Kart Wii, it would be to eliminate blue shells or at least make them very rare (sometimes they'll show up 3-4 times in one race). And they should never show up on the last lap, IMO.

3-4 times in one race? One time on koopa cape I was constantly pelted with blue shells, specially inside the pipe on the third lap, I was lucky enough to come in 6th.. i swear sometimes it's better to stay in second the whole race then zoom ahead of the guy in first at the end

I think it was because some tracks, like the Airship Fortress, have so much going on, with the bullet bills and monty moles, that there would be heavy lag. So they cut some off.

This is how the manual explains it: Automatic lets you drift automatically, with no Mini-Turbos. Manual lets you control the drift and gives you the option of Mini-Turbos.

I haven't fooled with the tricks yet. I'm not generally a fan of tricks in racing games, it seems like it would just be a distraction. Maybe one of these days, I'll actually open the manual and give them a try for the heck of it.

In some racing games, the tricks are just for show, so that's why I didn't pay much attention to the tricks initially. But since they give you a boost in MK Wii, that is a very good reason to use them. I started using them out the last couple times I played, and I will continue to use them.
