I look at it like this, Id rather see an unmasked Kane looking like a fool than masked Kane. Let's face facts, This character was gonna be more child friendly whether he had his mask or not...A mask doesnt make or break a character, his storylines do. Plus facial expression goes far an industry where you have to look serious, or look upset, or even comical for Kane. Sure we miss the mask, but in all seriousness for Kane this was the best move.

I watched this in 2003 and i thought that Kane would then be more destructive ever after unmasking. Even the weeks that followed the unmasking, he made destruction. From chokeslaming Bishoff of the stage, setting JR on fire, sending Stone Cold to hell, tombstoneing Linda. Though the mask is gone, they could have still made him more destrcutive than he is now. Kane unmasking was not his decision, Kane wanted to keep the mask as it was a large part of his character. A storyline writer came up with the idea and it was given the go ahead. Kane fought to keep his mask but it was to no avail. Kane didn't even want to change his mask to the one he had with no mouth cover but again it was out of his hands. Kane losing the mask is very unfortunate because it was who Kane was, this was a big mistake in my opinion. They should have listened to him
