Nothing beats the great legendary music of Sam Cooke! He was MY idol as a teen, and he remains my all-time favorite artist & musical genius! Awesome!!!
@thecardash I agree about music losing its quality these days but every now and then you find a real gem amongst it still.......This soul singer from Australia grew up idolising heros like Same Cooke and Otis Redding...you will get chills listening to him, its like he came out of that 60s era.....check out Guy Sebastian, " All To Myself or Bring Yourself......stunning soulful vocals at its best..cheers

People from all ages should turn off the television, and pick up some vinyl. Please realise you have only yourself to blame, you are the one limiting yourself by accepting the music big corporate music labels are trying to sell you. I'm not complaining, i can enjoy myself listening to new music. Dont limit yourself, we are all free to choose what music we want to listen too, music is timeless, and will ever be available :)
SIMPLY AMAZING .... THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HIS TALENT. WHEN YOU LISTEN TO THIS SONGS IT MAKES YOUR SOUL HAPPY... HIS GOSPEL RECORDINGS ARE ALSO FANTASTIC...
SAM SONG >>>>>TENDERNESS IS A JOYOUS TEAR JERKER..
REMARKABLE VOICE ... IF YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES WHILE LISTENING TO SAM ..HE WILL TAKE YOU ON A JOURNEY ....A LOVELY FEELING OF CALM. I REMEMBER MY PARENTS SLOW DANCING AND KISSING IN THE LIVINGROOM WHILE THE KIDS WERE SLEEPING... NOT KNOWING THAT WE WERE WATCHING GIGGLING FROM THE CORNER. LOL THIS IS WHEN MUSIC HAD MEANING... IM GLAD MY PARENTS INSTILLED IN US THE QUALITY OF MUSIC... I FEEL SORRY FOR TODAYS GENERATION .... THE LACK OF A REAL MUSIC.
I read comments here and there. I'm surprise at the amount of kids that actually enjoy this type of quality music! No matter what age you are, good music is good music. GOOD music is TIMELESS. And this music won't ever die! Our grand kids will be dancing or at least listen to this!

The first 20 seconds of this classic Sam Cooke tune has possibly the most beautiful ad libbing in the history of soul/r&b. I play it when I want to get in a "soulful" mood. Just listen to it. Pure singing. Soulful. Real. Honest. Heartfelt. Thanks for posting!!!
After searching a lot, I think I know who could play Sam Cooke - Columbus Short - check him out. He was on Cadillac Records as Little Walter. He looks a lot nicer with a full set of teeth! I think he has the right look, but just my opinion.
The first time I ever heard Sam Cooke, I was I was a young girl, a tomboy no less. But I thought he had the most beautiful voice I'd ever heard on a man. I never tired of his music and bought and played his records over and over. Heartbroken over his death (which still makes me angry), but so lucky to have a compilation of his work on CD. Certain of his songs still make me cry. For me, there was no one like him, nor will there ever be again.
No profanity no dirty talk towards nobody just music that we all wich we can sing to are love ones. All we can do is play it for them I do. Just listen and a smile will appear :O)..

I'm 17 years old and truly wish that i could have lived through the 50's. There was such a purity and sincerity when it came to love. People took it so seriously, and couples genuinely appreciated love. The music was sweet and honest, something that you rarely see today...nowdays a lot of people are just immature.
@lexiilu - I Agree with your post. The true problem is the Mafia took over the music industry and let in the ignorant, uneducated and untalented so-called artist in the industry. So now, we dont have real talented true artists. Instead we have selfish, greedy people with no morals or values that lust for money and power.
when you lie down with dogs you wake up with fleas.
I'm 29 years old and I truly wish i was born in the 50's. Music was from the heart and soul and nothing was more beautiful. I cherish the past and what is left of it more than anything that is here and now. I really wish things would go back to they way they were!
@GirlyBuddy I'm with you. I feel pretty much the same way. I feel really out of place in these times. I wonder how many others there are that feel the same.
@141Jessy ive often wondered that. im 23 and im yet to meet someone who shares my passion for this music, ive tried to get people into it, but i guess some people will just never 'feel' it like others can. otis redding's 'iv'e been loving you (too long)' gets me right there.
@GirlyBuddy yes! back when music meant something and talent didnt come in a cereal box. anyone can sing nowadays. as long as its about sex, drugs or killing. if u can't sing it, scream it. ugh. its nice to know there are people out there that keep artists like sam cooke alive god bless
@jayrock1987 There will always be hate, it just changes form. One difference, at least back then the songs weren't filled with crap the way they are now. Even in such bad times, the music managed to bring happiness, love & peace... when it was needed most. I never lived it, but I can feel it and somehow, I miss the old days!
@GirlyBuddy its not from the heart! you are fools! It wasnt acceptable to talk about your money and wealth back then. They just lacked the technology to make the crap they do now. ALL THESE 50'S SOUL GUYS EVER TALK ABOUT IS BITCHES AND THEIR PROBLEMS WITH THEM. SAME AS TODAY! just today's delivery is slicker and waaaaay more polished. (good or bad? up to the listener, fags) This shit is too boring if i want to feel like a badass or go workout. I could cry to it all day though...
@axlrod05 You've got a lot of class talking/ writing the way you do. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but it's just immature to call people names for what they think. I am not a fool nor a fag and you should find something better to do with your time. If you don't like it, don't listen, and don't reply with such 'unpolished' language. I mean, come on...have some respect.
@axlrod05 I'm glad you feel that way about my comment to you. I'm just not one who takes it well when someone wants to start hating on someone else when they didn't do anything wrong. It's all fine & well. Cheers. :-)
@GirlyBuddy The USA in the 1950's was certainly an interesting place to live but as time goes on America has become a tough place to live and work. Some Americans I know say things are getting tougher there (although it must have been hell in the 1930's depression). Oh well there's always music from that era to keep your chin up.
@maxiboy666 Yes, it certainly has gotten tough. There were days where you could help people without worrying so much about being hurt, killed or ripped off. Kids could play miles away from home & parents didn't have to worry as much & LOVE was the message more so than hate. Sadly, our whole world is falling apart as 'we' strive for bigger & better things we don't need, so much is wasted that in turn kills what we DO need, but how do I stop it? So, I listen to music that takes me to a good place
@Douala08 So true! Just watching the news is a sad reminder of how messed up our world is. At least we can still listen to this music & escape the madness even for just a short while. Most of the music now is filled with junk & negativity, & we're no longer producing legends like we once were. You're absolutely right... What the hell is going on? I am an optimist but honestly, I see a sad future ahead :-( that's why I enjoy going back in time...
@GirlyBuddy yea WHY DO WE HAVE A LACK OF LEGEND'S THESE DAY'S IT'S LIKE WE ARE ON A 13 YEAR DROUGHT,EVERYONE IS HOT FOR LIKE 4 OR 5 YEAR'S AND IT'S ALL OVER.
@akeemak22 I know right... what a shame. I'm with you on "the finest hour of Sam" movement. Keeping these legends alive is so important & we do need to celebrate Sam's life & all that he's blessed us with. Cheers to you & Mr. Sam Cooke :-)
@GirlyBuddy Mate im 16, i missed out of everything good, looks who i have to show for my generation, Gaga, Wayne and Bieber. Lucky my parents had good taste in music. :)
@GirlyBuddy That is because you don't know much about history. I think that Sam Cook himself would welcome the end of official segregation in the US. And of course that you don't think about that you could die in Korea war, right funny man or to vote funny girl.
The man only lived to be 33! had he seen 30-40 more years (he was killed in 64')
Sinatra & Elvis would have taken a back seat! FYI....people don't realize, Sam wrote most of his songs & had all the publishing with all of his music! Unheard of at that time! "pound for pound" Sam Cooke IS the greatest of all time!
i get a 6 pack of beer every sunday night and play sam cooke as the sun set's from 8:30-9:30 i call it ''the finest hour of sam''.when u play sam cooke as the sun goes down you can feel somthing in the air and it's special i hope you all can join me every sunday,so we can toast to sam, who's with me. ''the finest hour of sam'' it's a movement
@janmh19 thanx man i hope more people catch on to it.just make sure you get a great veiw of the sunset as u play the music it's like time stand's still.
@akeemak22 I get a 6 pack of beer every sunday night and downrank retarded youtube comments as the sun set's from 8:30-9:30 i call it "the worst hour of the week"
There is only one Sam cooke.I still get this feeling,it's not something you can put in words, but it is,nothing short of magic,a moment .Suspended in time,a moment for just me,but also for everyone.Sam was timeless and beautiful.I'll be listening for as long as i'm around.Man what a voice.
This song is in loving memory of the very beautiful and angeletic Miss Phyllis Linda Hyman' And Sam Cooke.. I love you Mr Sam Cooke' and Miss Phyllis Hyman. may God bless your souls in peace always.
how do you upload music to youtube? i am sick of running into wannabes when i am seeking a song. i have a few Sam Cooke songs i would like to share, and maybe in return there are others that have the true artists songs they can and would like to share.
@drackch It's actually really easy, if you have any computer with Windows you usually have the preloaded programs, Windows Movie Maker is usually one of them. Just get an MP3 u want, load it into Movie Maker and youre basically good to go lol If you want to add text or images you can, also very easily :-) I got pissed off one day over a video search and figured it out lol You can also Google it but what I typed above is the long and short of it
@drackch BUT make sure that you're not using a song/video/image/clip that will get your channel shut down or deleted! I use only underground artists that I get permission from so just be careful <3 A lot of people go nuts and get their accounts banned right off the bat lol
this is when men really cared for their women and were not afraid to say they were sorry or wrong. I think men don't appreciate their women as much as men did back in the day. people say chivalry is dead and they are okay with that but chivalry is probably what needs to be presented in today's society i think ALOT of marriages would be saved.
ALthough that was the case, most marriages were actually dysfunctional and led to many domestic violences and drinking problems, but the family stayed together because they couldn't survive on their own, the wife needed the husband, the husband needed the wife at home.
Well women certainly don't appreciate their men as much nowadays either. Women are just as much to blame for the death of so-called chivalry as men are, if not moreso.
Well women certainly don't appreciate men as much either nowadays, and women are just as much to blame for the death of so-called chivalry as men, if not moreso with the feminazis movement. The kind of women who inspired men to write these kinds of lyrics are long gone.
@lp31 You never said a truer word. when we were 16 our boyfriend would be happy to sit & listen to these beautiful love songs. Sam cooke brings back a lot of happy memories.
@pip4 I agree, met my girl at 14, married her at 19, we still dig otis and sam, 40 years later. Gotta have respect for the opposite sex, a lot of love and a lot of forgiveness even if you are forgiving your self. sam is soooooooooooo passionate, we have loved him thru all the years.
@lp31 I do think that this is a wonderful song, so romantic. But also I disagree that men cared more about their wives and girlfriends. Perhaps chivalry is dead, and romantic love songs, but womens rights are here and we can divorce, and we can complain rather than sitting in unhappy marriages in denial.
@lp31 What the fuck? You are wrong on so many levels it's kind of funny. Do you even know how SC died? Fuck, do you even know what period of time this was? Dont reply to this with argumentative points you will only dig a bigger hole.
@Axxx22 do you know? he was robbed by a hooker tried to chase her down naked and was shot twice by the hotel inn keeper. the only unexplained part of his death was why he was also beaten to where he was unrecognisable??
@gagan30000, thanks a lot for the crystal quality of your record, I got a real and deep STEREO (piano singing of the left channel) effect on a WONDERFUL song, despite flash videos quality.
Sam Cooke should be called "THE VOICE". He had a warm voice and so great performances. A genius actually.
For those who might be responding about "the Voice", I'd say Frank Sinatra deserved it too even if I consider his voice as slightly metallic compared with Sam's. Another genius yet...
I have posted my version of some of Sam's songs.... but everytime I listen to Sam's voice, I get embarrassed that I dared to post them. He was special :-)
Why were they the down fall of Sam? Read the story below Unless your racist like lots of the white right wingers. There is good and bad in all races. Most of the bad comes from religious zealots trying to shove it down our throats. This is all organized religions, all of them! Religion is a way of controlling us, and it's worked since man began.

@GirlyBuddy The USA in the 1950's was certainly an interesting place to live but as time goes on America has become a tough place to live and work. Some Americans I know say things are getting tougher there (although it must have been hell in the 1930's depression). Oh well there's always music from that era to keep your chin up.
maxiboy666 1 year ago
@maxiboy666 Yes, it certainly has gotten tough. There were days where you could help people without worrying so much about being hurt, killed or ripped off. Kids could play miles away from home & parents didn't have to worry as much & LOVE was the message more so than hate. Sadly, our whole world is falling apart as 'we' strive for bigger & better things we don't need, so much is wasted that in turn kills what we DO need, but how do I stop it? So, I listen to music that takes me to a good place

Marvin Gaye asked an essential question, "Where are we going? what's the future holding for us?" & "What's going on"
Today we could say what the hell in going on!!!

@GirlyBuddy That is because you don't know much about history. I think that Sam Cook himself would welcome the end of official segregation in the US. And of course that you don't think about that you could die in Korea war, right funny man or to vote funny girl.

Sinatra & Elvis would have taken a back seat! FYI....people don't realize, Sam wrote most of his songs & had all the publishing with all of his music! Unheard of at that time! "pound for pound" Sam Cooke IS the greatest of all time!

how do you upload music to youtube? i am sick of running into wannabes when i am seeking a song. i have a few Sam Cooke songs i would like to share, and maybe in return there are others that have the true artists songs they can and would like to share.
drackch 1 year ago
@drackch It's actually really easy, if you have any computer with Windows you usually have the preloaded programs, Windows Movie Maker is usually one of them. Just get an MP3 u want, load it into Movie Maker and youre basically good to go lol If you want to add text or images you can, also very easily :-) I got pissed off one day over a video search and figured it out lol You can also Google it but what I typed above is the long and short of it
thecharredremain 1 year ago
@drackch BUT make sure that you're not using a song/video/image/clip that will get your channel shut down or deleted! I use only underground artists that I get permission from so just be careful <3 A lot of people go nuts and get their accounts banned right off the bat lol

this is when men really cared for their women and were not afraid to say they were sorry or wrong. I think men don't appreciate their women as much as men did back in the day. people say chivalry is dead and they are okay with that but chivalry is probably what needs to be presented in today's society i think ALOT of marriages would be saved.
lp31 1 year ago 50
@lp31 You are right but... what about women who aren't cared for the person they should love?
You know, love is a two-people activity, not a man who takes care for a woman.
paranoiasdel89 1 year ago
ALthough that was the case, most marriages were actually dysfunctional and led to many domestic violences and drinking problems, but the family stayed together because they couldn't survive on their own, the wife needed the husband, the husband needed the wife at home.

@DragomirJtac You believe that...you'll believe anything!

Well women certainly don't appreciate their men as much nowadays either. Women are just as much to blame for the death of so-called chivalry as men are, if not moreso.
THOUSANDAlRE 1 year ago
Well women certainly don't appreciate men as much either nowadays, and women are just as much to blame for the death of so-called chivalry as men, if not moreso with the feminazis movement. The kind of women who inspired men to write these kinds of lyrics are long gone.

@lp31 I really like your comment without the bit:
"I think men don't appreciate their women as much as men did back in the day "
Chivalry is the BEST but when you don't expect in return submission, like back in the day. :)

@lp31 I agree with you mostly. But coming from a female perspective, there are a lot of women that don't appreciate their men.
rtmp1983 1 year ago
@gagan30000, thanks a lot for the crystal quality of your record, I got a real and deep STEREO (piano singing of the left channel) effect on a WONDERFUL song, despite flash videos quality.
Sam Cooke should be called "THE VOICE". He had a warm voice and so great performances. A genius actually.
For those who might be responding about "the Voice", I'd say Frank Sinatra deserved it too even if I consider his voice as slightly metallic compared with Sam's. Another genius yet...
