We did a fetal pig dissection once...our teacher told me Mommy Pig got slaughtered for bacon. But she also told us to treat our little piggies with respect because they gave up their lives so we could pass the course. Very true.
This program would also be great for people who get queasy from the smell (me!).

If you want to learn anatomy & physiology-these computer simulations are awesome companions to textbooks! Also, there are no issues with dangerous chemical (formaldehyde) splashing into eyes or allergy issues. I've dissected pigs, and I can say you don't learn anything from that other than getting grossed out. I almost vomited with that formaldehyde stink. These computer programs will save lots of money-infinitely reusable, as opposed to real pigs-one time only.

In most states it is actually not illegal for a teacher to require you to dissect for a grade, the do not have to give an alternitve project.

I think that's a great idea! Virtual software is so more humane and nowerdays, disection and vivisection are really unnecessary.
