@Dontcallmetimtam Yes. It was the red kryptonite that caused the change in Superman's behaviour. It has an unpredictable (usually bad) effect on him. Nowadays, more often than not, it turns him into a real di...fferent person.

@TraitorMouse Plus the effect usually lasts for about 24-48 hours. In addition, when it was first introduced, lead couldn't stop red kryptonite rays; evidently now it can. One final note: once an effect occurs, the same effect doesn't occur again for a while. Used to be that once a particular chunk of red k hit Superman, it no longer had any effect on him again.
