  • Well played!

  • nice playing dude... you got

     a cool sound

  • nice playing dude... you goy a cool sound

  • I see no harm in comparing single coils and humbuckers sound for sound. The problem I have with the demo is that you would need to do one riff for the demo and compare the five selector settings of each guitar against each other. The tone you are getting out of the PRS is not really representative of its full range.

  • I would just switch comments off mate - everyone is an expert or a loudmouth - just post your videos and let them pi** off.

  • I couldn't understand the comparison —single coils cannot be put aside with humbuckers, doesn't make any sense to do that— but dig a lot what you played, man, sounded really cool. Uh, by the way, the Strat tone just murdered that thin sounding PRS.

  • Alright man come on, PRS vs Strat, really? Humbuckers and sigle coils, hello? Maybe PRS vs Les Paul and Strat vs Tele. Come on man it's like you're new at this.

  • Different amps...different settings on the guitars themselves...different pickups....different attack...different effects...different segments of the song...different volume levels. I don't get it.

It's like saying, "here's a banana. make a milkshake out of it. okay, now here's an orange...make a sauce out of it. Okay, which fruit is better?"

    Absurd.

  • STRATOCASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Didn't like it. You should have played them in the same mode of the amp! Mode red is very different than mode orange-how can we compare the guitars?

    Do it over again! :-)

  • Who cares about who thinks what,i dont buy a guitar to please other people,i buy a guitar because it pleases me and i want that guitar, what suits one dosent suit another, but the benefit of this and many other videos of this type,is to give people a taster of different guitars and/or setups, the way the market is going these days is that there are fewer and fewer "bad" guitars out there.....i think your video is cool and HAS given me a taster of two very nice guitars and the amp, nice one bro...

  • Both sound Beautiful

  • Another useless video, trying to compare two guitars while they're not equipped with the same pickups. Worse : single coils vs humbucker.

I'll post a video of Caramel vs Chocolate Cream.

  • Well, theoretically if someone has trouble choosing between brands they could just go by what George said, "If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there."

  • I love my American standard strat, but I've been thinking of a PRS. If you stick to only one brand, defending to the death it's the best, your gonna miss out.

  • Two totally different birds my friend. I've owned 12 times more Stratocasters than PRS's. Both are excellent guitars... The Strat is a strat, better single coil sounds than the PRS but the PRS is the better instrument in my opinion. There's no comparison between Humbuckers and the PRS tremolo is much better that Fenders. The good thing is Now PRS is building lower priced guitars in the 80's there wasn't any $500.00 PRS's! Play what you like. (Don't need Boost with a Good Tube Amp!!!)

  • You played the strat better. But I find that Strats are easier to play for me too. But I can't live without either sound so.. cop out. I'm getting both.

  • Comment removed

  • Are you high? Have you even heard of a Gibson Les Paul? They all have their own voices and so do the Fenders. But the Fenders have a certain sound, not much bass and a lot of treble. Les Paul's have a lot of bass and mids. The PRS gets all the in between sounds. Nuff said.

  • Nice video!. I don't think this was intended as a, "Which is better?" video. Just looks like you're comparing them.

Up until yesterday I played an HSS Strat & loved it (best of all worlds with the humbucker in the bridge position, although I wish it had a coil tap).

I then bought a brand new CE22 (old stock from a dealer). Has a 3-way switch and coil tap.

I enjoy the sound of both -- but I like how the PRS can give me a bit of the Albert King sound. :)

  • @richardlpalmer I have many guitars - they all sound different - but as you say this is not a competition unless you want it to be. Some of my videos are popular because people like to say that only their guitar brand is any good. I believe that they are all good thats why I have so many.

  • @metebelis it is a competition actually because you said "vs"

  • @rocknwill003 |versus means

    1. (esp in a competition or lawsuit) against; in opposition to Abbreviation v (esp US) vs

    2. as opposed to; in contrast with

[from Latin: turned (in the direction of), opposite, from vertere to turn]

and I meant "the in contrast with" definition as far as my videos are concerned.

    Thanks

  • @metebelis Try looking up internet douche

  • @metebelis I agree with you. It's not a competition and I know how so many with loyalties to different guitars get in petty arguments. I love the way PRS Guitars play, I had a SC250 but had to sell it (cried when I did) due to financial issues. I am now saving for a PRS SE 245. It has all the American features even the birds for a quarter of the price. To me PRS guitars have a richer more diverse tone. The tone knobs are so touchy that you can make them sound however you want.

  • i guess it only matters to yourself which guitar has the sound you want...i personally like the strat sound..cause its sounds bluesy and im not dissing the prs fans...its just my opinion

  • Strat

  • Single coils vs Humbuckers.

    Apples vs Oranges.

  • He obviously made this video to show the stratish side of the PRS. You know many ppl say the PRS can sound like a strat too etc etc. He didn't just picked a humbucker guitar and put it against the strat

  • pepper versus sugar

  • @soupeh best thing you can possibly do is have both in one guitar

  • @soupeh oranges

  • @soupeh prefer tangerines myself...

  • I added a Humbucker to my favorite strat .

PRS's are just too lately..My first was PRS was in 1986 I

  • There is nothing like a strat but a strat,,I love PRS's but they really never got the strat sound right...wrong wood, pickupstetc..

..sorry ... ya got to buy both,,,

  • Im with you but on the other hand the PRS will do things that the strat haven't even dreamed. But for the blues the only choice is the strat offcourse.

  • What is a better car a 68 Camaro or a 66 Mustang

It is the Player that is 90% of the sound. I have an American and jap and mex strat and the Santana and SE custom 24 and they all sound really great and the PRS SE's and the Strats are both really great. The good news is that you can't go wrong!

  • I'm thinking of buying a PRS guitar. SE Custom model. Can anybody tell me their opinions on it please? I would like to know about the quality of the guitar (Will it break easily? etc.)

  • dont buy an se spend the money and get the full on prs its worth every penny

  • havent got the cash to be honest. ill be stretching my budget with an SE to be honest. my budget is £350

  • @georgeprodjex try a michael kelly guitar, is at that price range and theyre so so so good, tell me your opinion if you look for them

  • @mcnutt6907 Were not all minted like you sadly lol, other wise I would (don't even have the money for an SE >_>).

  • okay well if you cant afford that buy an agile they are made by rondo music they sound just like a prs and they are like 350 american and they look just as nice. they are called the agile hawker

  • @mcnutt6907 I'm fine with my strat for now (lonestar strat for the win =p), though hopefully I will get a prs in a few years (or just nick my brothers lol)

  • you should put some lace sensor pickups in that strat they sound amazing

  • Nah, I love the texas specials, is one of the main reasons I got the lonestar.

If I spend any money it will probably be on a new amp (like a fender blues junior or blues deluxe).

  • I got mine one year ago and had ('till now) no problems with it...

For the price range of 700$ it's the best guitar you can get, still, you'll have to play it and see how it feels or how it's sounds for your ears

  • the strat has a sweeter tone here

  • this is more like it, the PRS was clear and bright, with use of the tone knob your could easily produce some soulful strat sounds... the nature of the PRS is to be good at single coil and hum bucker sounds, thus being a guitar totally different than either a LP or a Strat, It makes it a great guitar for almost all types of music, and the quality is second to none

  • nice bb king vibrato

  • I much prefer the Strat. It just has life in it that the PRS lacks. And no...you don't need music theory to play well...just ask the guy that the Strat in this video is named for.

  • MMM ? is this a negative or positive comment?

  • @metebelis - Seems more like self-aggrandizing.

  • There is really no comparing the two as they are 180 degrees apart from one another as far as wood, construction and electronics are concerned. I have a Strat, a LP and a PRS SAS - none are similar in any way no matter what amp you play them through. The Strat has single coils, the PRS SAS has two McCarty buckers w/ Duncan vintage rails and the LP has two fat ass buckers.

The only similarities I can draw from any are the neck profiles of the LP and PRS as both are wide and fat.

  • @alwaysopen Actually if you were going to compare any guitar with a PRS, the only 2 that would make any sense are strats or Les Pauls. Smith himself has said that inspiration for his guitars came from taking the greatest aspects of the pioneers in guitar design, Fender and Gibson and combining them. I guess it would make more sense to pit the PRS against a les paul since McCarty was a consultant for PRS and personal mentor to Smith. BUt, whatev

  • the previous comparison video was terrible, but this video is really good. i hear the characteristics of both guitars now. prs ce22 has an excellent balance of warm and bright tones.

  • The 1st video was a learning experience for me. I had spent a lot of money on guitars but almost nothing on amps and effects. The comments reflected this and I improved (and purchased). Comments and ratings are better now but the older video is still watched more.

  • i prefer the strat O.o

  • Good playing bro, especially for the strat. But I think that the PRS is quite good at many different styles. Oh hell...us tone freaks need 1 thousand guitars to feel complete. So many guitars - so little money.

  • Buy the LTD models and tune em up:D

  • A men... i got a les paul classic gibson, a strat dulux, and getting a PRS custom 24.... special edition in 2 weeks there like 6 grand tho... but omg orgazmic.. its much beter then this dudes prs.. but his is cool 2

  • this guy's playing dosn't do prs justice he needs to show of the true versitility of bouth guitars.

  • OK...I just left a comment on your other video......this is more like it bro...God...world of difference....no comparison.....less is more......Strat kills the PRS IMO....

  • the guitars are a good comparison but you've used two different amps, marshalls have an inherently darker sound than vox'x, marshalls use el34's and voxs 6l6's, the camera is set up in a different place and in a different room from what i can see. nice to see two lovely guitar and some nice improvising but as a comparison or tone test there are way too many variables for it to be worth while.

  • Sorry - wrong - same amp. Look at the subtitles and if still not sure check out the PRS part of the video - in the right hand bottom corner the red light on the Marshall amp gives you a clue. Thanks.

  • The PRS sounds SOOO much brighter in my opinion...

  • Nice comparo, thanks for posting!

  • both guitars are worlds apart. the guitar must suit the player. there are all great. i just dont like the ikea wood look on the fender necks. for a guitar of 1000+ it looks the same as a squier of 500 dollar.

prs shows its potential in its beauty

my opninion feel free to think otherwise

  • i agree, however, guitars are not about looks, their about SOUND. too many people forget that.

  • And that's why we have the brands Jackson, B.C. Rich, and Dean. They are for those who care more about looking bad than playing well. I agree with you, but nobody really wants a guitar that looks ugly.

  • i disagree. those brands do take into account looks, probably more then they should, but they all have their merits. The early Dean MLs and V's are hailed as some of the greatest guitars of all time. Jackson and Charvel opened up a whole new category of guitars made for aggressive music and blazingly fast playing. There are very very few guitar companies that haven't secured their place in guitar history, however, their actions today probably could use a looking-over.

  • There's no such thing as a 500$ squire is there? Maybe but I dont think ive ever seen one lol...

  • well i live in the netherlands and you can get here for 329 euro a squire strat

  • actually squiers only go up to $300. if it's $500 it's one of the fenders made in mexico (i think) but the american ones are 1000+

  • i was refering to a starterpack where i started on. but it doesnt take away the fact that there are no estetic changes from squier to usa build fender. its all the same

  • Dude wonderful style for those two, I usually prefer a prs, but for blues nothing beats a fender, two thumbs up

  • paul reed smith forever. it is made to be a mix between a tele and strat. prs will always be my favorite

  • no it's more like a gibson and a strat not a tele and strat.

  • i think prs is the best.

  • if you could ''split'' the humbucker of the PRS it could be interresant...

we are comparing two different gutars with two different type of pickups...

  • The CE22 has 5 possible pickup settings which include split coil. The EC strat has active mid boost (powered by batteries). In my opinion both are excellent but different. Thats the point of the video.

  • In this video I prefer the Strat but most of the time I prefer PRS guitars.

  • This comparison isn't fair toeither guitar. For it to be fair, you'd have to use the same amp and effects with both guitars. In my opinion, the vox sucks.

  • I did use the same amp and effects. The vox was just in the background.

  • My bad...thanks for clarifiying. Did you also se the exact same settings on the amp with both demos?

  • Almost the same - but guitars have different output levels - so same settings is not an accurate comparison.

  • strat

  • Nicely done. A great demonstration of the difference in tone. I love both, but I think the strat suits this piece better. That's just my .02

  • i liked the strat better for the blues, althought i think the prs will be better for fusion

  • No surprises hear. Humbuckers produce more gain. Other than that, tone wise they are pretty close.

It basically comes down to the individual. What feels good in your hands.

  • I love both those guitars

    that's one beautiful looking PRS

and the Eric Clapton strat.. dude, you're one lucky guy

I thought the strat sounded best though

  • My last PRS vs Strat video was critisied for: cheap PRS vs expensive Stratocaster, using a cheap amp, using too much wah and being too long. This video: PRS and Strat are roughly the same price, I'm using a quality amp, almost no effects and its shorter. Perhaps people will like this video better.
