  • No rich white child left behind.

  • LETS ALL DO SOME SIMPLE MATH!! NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND = DEATH, RAPE, AND IDIOTS + MONEY, THE DRAFT, AND BRAIN WASHING + BANNING OF FLAGS AND ARTS+ HIRING N.AZI DIP WAD RELATIVES = THE BIGGEST CON IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!! =Duhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • Money doesn't make schools better, competition does, better teachers do.

  • I like NCLB because it holds school's accountable for failing students. if schools dont want to face te consequence of funding cuts then maybe they should actually provide a decent education to their students.

  • I love Joe Biden!

  • This is the most retarted law ever passed in the history of the United States. My mom is now facing 6 months in jail and a fine of up to 500 bucks. For what because my teachers hate me and give me F's on answers that are correct. An example my freind and I compaired test's we had the same exact answers and I got a 0 while he got a hundered. What the fuck so because of this I don't go to school often. and my mom is 51 fucking years old but they don't care they just want money so I say Scrap it.

  • It is bullshit! It only ruined kid's education by ruining the school system! Capitalists are swine!

  • This was a really good video. I just wanted to add that the number one problem with NCLB is the No Child part. That is 100% accountability in 2014. This is impossible and we will fail to meet this goal. No child = every child. Every child = those with severe mental, behavioral, learning, emotional and physical disabilities. EVERY child having to pass the same standardized test WILL NOT WORK.

  • so if a student gets low grades, pass them anyway? One of the stupidest and dangerous ideas America has had.

  • you people who are all for NCLB are so ignorant.

  • NCLB and State Testing is horrible, we need to scrap it

  • oh...

  • what do you mean? are u for nclb?

  • We need to leave some children behind. 40% drop out anyway and in the elementary school we slow everything down to cater to those 40%. By leaving "no child behind" we leave all children behind.

  • I don't care what anyone says, NCLB doesn't work. And it's just a way to blame the teachers and the schools for the poor performance of the kids who are failing. And that's bullshit. It's NOT the schools' or the teachers' fault. And if you have lots of really dumb kids in class who do poorly because they don't/won't study or pay attention, why should the school or the teacher be blammed for that? Blame the parents!!

  • F.I.N.A.L.S. -- Fuck, I Never Actually Learned Shit

  • If you seek child abuse prevention, no lie,no same old same old band aid solution, but the actual key to childhood prevention on the largest scale ever to be executued>

Click on my member name and when you get there go immediately to the video titled"Key To Child Abuse Prevention"

There is also a previous video released titled"Saving Children From Suffering Abuse"

Who else do children have but Caring adults who for all future generations to come, are ready to end this madness now?!!

  • We'd do better to scrap the whole education system and have healthy competition in a capitalistic market which would attract and pay teachers better, hold teachers accountable for productivity or they'd be fired like in any corporation, allow parents to choose which schools their children can attend and the federal government pays $5000.00 a year for each child's schooling wherever that child attends class.

  • only 2 people answered?!?! wtf??

  • that bullshit act ruined my life because my son missed like 12 total days of school year last year b/c of my health and there's no school bus service in the town i live and they fined me for 354 dollars which im still paying for today, thanks alot no child left behind piece of shit

  • I want to know why the Bush Administration put in such an abomination of an Act

  • the important thing to teach kids today is the fact that they wont be able to get a fucking JOB after 100000 education at their fucking prestigious scientific world renound university with a fucking advanced degree in chemistry not no child left behind.

  • To dumb America.

  • RICHARDSON RULES!!! Yes, scrap it!!! NCLB is garbage. Hillary voted for this garbage and needs to be called out on it. Hillary has NO CLUE!!! She's thankful she didn't have to answer this question, because she would given some lame, canned, robotic response. Richardson looks more and more as the guy we must nominate in 2008 if we want to win.

  • o hell yea bll richardson hasgreat ideas and is goin to mke a great president in 2008 look what he has donefor new mexico mainly albuquerque he won the votes of nw mexico voters and hes onna win the voters of all america

  • Vote Mike Gravel or Ron Paul in 2008 for America's future and Freedom!

  • Some have complained that they can't see what I wrote on the white board in this video. The original video is posted in my account and it is much clearer. BTW, it was neat seeing my video on CNN!

  • I think we should follow British's education system because it's the best solution(research it). Some people deserve to get left behind. When people are in class doing work, there is always a bunch of kids talking and listen to their Ipods so loud and distracting everyone. They don't care about their own education, why should we the people care about it? It isn't about teachers and etc. Even with good teachers and good equipment if they don't want to learn you can't help them.. Think about it.

  • Follow the Finnish instead.

  • So where is Ron Paul during this debate? I see a couple of nobodies that are running for prez including Kucinich but not Ron Paul.

  • Because it's the Democratic debate, no Republicans.

I know, I know...Ron Paul has some really good and interesting ideas and if I were an American I'd strongly consider voting for him, but instead he's forced to debate idiots like Giuliani who still think George Bush is the greatest.

  • as a teacher, i find my pay completely satisfactory. i work 9 months a year, get paid a full years salary, and get full benefits.

  • there's no way you are a teacher... no one who has to deal with kids today would be 'satisfied' with their paycheck.

  • Kids nowadays need that one teacher to change there lives. Of course now teachers are crummy. Teaching is a second rate job. Students treat teachers like crap.

We shouldn't hire teachers, we should hire life models.

  • we need new methods...methods that empower children to think critically about the world around them

  • doesn't work!!!!

  • I agree. With parents as educators you realize it's not just the children. It's the teachers also. In order for a child to receive a decent education the teacher has to be committed. I've seen the movie Stand by Me. I do not believe getting a education is a right it's a freedom. Some may take advantage but yet each and every kid deserves a good education..regardless of their history or past or race or sex. And that's the bottom line.

  • It was neat to have Richardson and Biden answer my question, but it would have been great to hear what the other candidates had to say! I'd especially like to hear from Kucinich.

  • I suggest you all watch the movie "Stand by Me" with Morgan Freeman. The fact is that you cannot educate a child who does not want to be educated. We waste time and money on children who are criminals and disruptive to the whole process of learning. Getting a education is privilege, not a right. We need to place expectations on kids. They step up or we throw them out.

  • Liked all their responses, agree kids shouldn't be pressured into taking a test that forces everyone to be average in all of these "basic" skills where their talents lie elsewhere, as they said we need to harness those skills of each individual to make the best workers for the economy (ron paul ftw!)

  • The kids of the "greatest" country in the world are 29th at Math. Wow!!! And these kids are going to run this country 30 years from now? That's fucked up. USA needs help, an international help. The World should not turn its back to USA. If this country doesn't get help this is going to affect us all badly for years to come.

  • As for NCLB, it needs scrapping entirely. Selective pressure on a few subjects for religious testing at the end of each year simply isn't productive or logical, and neither is punishing schools that don't meet up to huge goals. Those little schools are shedding all optional programs/courses just to keep up.

  • I read of all of these comments and see comments regarding "the test" I am from Texas and I will one day be a teacher, the only thing that NCLB has done for Texas teachers is make us teach the test and that is it. We can no long teacher "love lessons" and we are tring to get through all of lessons before April so that the students will be prepared for the test....we are not preparing our students for life beyond high school.

  • WTF is up with this question video? Come on now...

  • NCLB means that smart kids are held back by the ones who cant get it.

We need a three tier level of education: Blue collar for "hands on workers" such as plumbers, welders and machinists; "white collar" for engineers, writers and lawyers. Then the "Asthetic track" for performing artists, musicians and athletes.

We all learn differently and there is nothing wrong with this. But how dare we insist that each child needs the same lessons taught?

  • That is the great thing about Montessori schools and High Schools that are based on what the child wants to accomplish such as High school for the performing arts

  • hahahahha! at that question, some democrats admitted that their mistakes for voting the "no child left behin act" and they changed their minds to scrap it...what if they got voted as presidents? then, they will say " oh, i lied" is it too late to change if the damage is already there?

  • "No Child Left Behind Failed" because it was based on the false premise that every child wants and deserves an eduction. More money will not solve the problem. Nothing will change as long as education is control by the teachers union.

  • Education is not "controlled by the teachers union" in every state, yet NCLB fails everywhere. And why is it a false premise that every child (READ: CITIZEN) deserves an education? What children want is largely irrelevant; citizens need to be able to read, etc. Don't blame teachers or the kids for a failed policy. Blame the people who designed the policy. Blame the guy who promoted this ridiculous policy.

  • I'd get rid of that damn state testing and those stupid unions.

  • I agree. Children should be trained on how to prepare for high school and college and how to interpret all your classes and use them in life. Not how to prepare for a test each year.

  • Those tests can last for two weeks and take up half of the day, and certain schools spend a month teaching the test to the kids. I protested taking them but now kids don't have that option they need it to graduate.

  • The candidates fail to address a major concern. Public schools are funded through local property tax. Students are literally born into poor education. If the town is poor, the school is poor. At least the candidates are admitting their mistakes on NCLB.

  • I agree, some method of equaliztion should occur, and when combined with a higher starting salary we can recruit higher quality.

  • I think you've got something there about the financial inequality. When a school is poor, it doesn't do as well on the test, and it gets less funding, which, unsurprisingly, does not cause it to do better. It's a vicious cycle that has long figured in Republican strategy. Republicans always want to "raise standards" but not fund anything. When I was in CA, I saw a billboard advocating "standards" for art education when the total budget for art education in CA was $0; I'm not kidding.

  • Can you imagine a child with an empty tummy, or who a child who has stayed awake half listening to gunfire in the neighborhood, or a child who finds herself suddenly immersed in a language she does not comprehend being 'required' to focus on inane reading assignments about irrelevant subjects? I have seen little children so nervous about passing the "tests" that they tremble in fear or vomit. SHAME on NCLB that pretends the lives of all children could be made equal with a "test".

  • revise it,france is inspiring of this policy,it's a god idea

  • $40,000 per year. That is awesome.

  • Great question!!

  • Debating the Debate: CNN/Youtube dems, Charlotte(SC) 7/23/07

    watch?v=zlb_tLQKCNM

  • Thanks. I turned in four questions and they picked this one... I admit that this was my most serious question and so I'm glad it was selected... But I think my "Your Running Mate" video is funner!

  • It's very clever but hard to read the messages from the CNN video (with the responses). I recommend the addition of a link to the original (which is really good.) on the main page so people can read your critiques, or just post them for folks to read. They're worth seeing; I wish I could be pithy like that.

  • CONCERNING CLARITY OF WRITTEN COMMENTS IN VIDEO: Using the white board may not have been the best way of presenting my written comments, but I was going for sort of a classroom feel. To get to the original video it is probably easiest to just click to my account and watch the video there.

  • RE: written comments

I really liked the video and the written comments. I just had an idea and wanted to share it because the video really was worth the effort of clicking through and finding it but people don't always do that.

Maybe YouTube should include a link for all the questions-- anything but a talking head gets lost in the CNN postings. This is the first time this has been done and I had the idea so I thought I'd share it with YouTube.
