  • You twatty NIKON fanboy

  • I believe you are supposed to point the camera to where you will be shooting from, and not at the light source...

  • @mrman17 Actually, expodisc is pointed at the light source, unlike a gray card.

  • @wolfy317 It depends - I checked and to quote from quickstart guide on their web site:

"When photographing subjects under ambient light, it is best to stand in similar light as your subject and point the camera towards the main light source. If there is not a dominant light illuminating your subject, then it is important to capture the combined incident and reflected light falling on your subject by pointing the camera back towards

the location from where you will take the picture"

  • @mrman17 Good point. I guess I was stuck thinking in terms of artificial lighting :)

  • You can also use sheet of white toilet paper or Kleenex. That will work as well.

  • Short, sweet and right to the point. Thank you!

  • Short, sweet and right to the point. Thank you!

  • Photos going blue too over here...

  • Great Tutorial... I was actually using mine wrong all along... I had it flipped creamy side out... looking forward to using it correctly. thanks!

  • Thank you! Very well explained.

  • Still not working for me in all instances. Weird. Got the 77 for my 70-200 Tamron, it works very well in some instances and blue in others. How many more light sources can there be than the sun? No flash going on... PS: remember to take your white balance OFF whatever it's on BEFORE you shoot for white balance! LOL

  • Snore

  • Why focus?

  • @py1hy He mentioned taking it out of auto focus because with certain camera settings, it wont let you take the shot unless it find focus first. It can't focus that close so you wouldn't be able to take the shot unless you disable that feature or put it in manual first.

  • I can't wait to try it with my NikonD50. Thank you for sharing!! :)

  • nice!! thanks for sharing..

  • so if I'm doing headshots, using strobes, do I need to shoot the strobes lights using the expodisk on? what if I'm doing it out doors and is getting darker , ?

    please some help.

  • Great tutorial! Short simple and to the point.

  • thanks very much! this is a neat little trick, and it's very useful and easy

you have a good style of explaining things, thank you

  • Thanks for the video. This would beat using a gray card. I just wish the expo disc wasn't so expensive.

  • am8tam: the model of camera isn´t important, but the size of your lens. They are many... choose a size you think you will use more. But uf you choose a large you be use in the small lens.. but not atach, just using with your hand.

I have the Expodisc and use on D90. I buy the 52 ´cause I use most of time in the 50mm lens. Expodisc 52 is the cheapest, around 70 US$.

  • what kind of or what size expodisk should i buy for nikon D90 Thanks ?

  • buy a 77mm, it will fit for all smaller lens diameter

  • @am8tam

What size is the size of your lens? If you have the 18-55 and 55-200 lenses (which I assume most D90 users have), you will need a 52mm Expodisc. Otherwise, you will need to find the size of you lens for a perfect fit. It will still work if your Expodisc is bigger than your lens. Just hold The Expodisc as close as possible to your lens.

  • This video is wrong. Read the manual again!

  • I don't see how this was incorrect at all. I own an expo disc and this is exactly how you should use it.
