That shit is phenomenal! The Biggie rip at the end was like the exclamation point! I don't give a shit how old homie gets he's still nice as fuck! Just cause he's closing in on 40 don't mean shit...that's like saying Mick Jagger or Stevie Wonder ain't nice just because they've grown older.
Yep but Jay Z's over and he just wants the whole devil press to stay relevant retiring and coming back made him seem like he had to prove himslef agian naw Jay you proved it peace my nigga give Beyonce what she want kids
yeah jay iz sick. a lot of people diss jay and say hes not that good. real hip hop heads who know his album tracks know jay can get deep. he'll be more respected in death like biggie, pac, pun and big l.

Hov uses so many double-entendres and subliminals, you need a dictionary full of homonyms to understand what he's spitting. Nonetheless, DP3 is reminiscent of classic Jay material. Beat is laidback and chill unlike most of this ring-tone rap these days. I wonder if Irv Gotti produced it like he did for Jay's first LP? Any case, I hope and anticipate that Blueprint 3 is as thoughtful and timeless as this cut.
yup...back then I first heard it.aint gonna lie(lye lol)I didnt NO whay kneading meant.now pretty much when Iam round my boys I call myself the homophone king
Washingtons go to wifey, you know how that go... haha thats what AZ said on "The Genesis - Nas" Jay is so ill, and mad niggas sleep on him.. I don't get it.
american gangster is a classic album and he really aint sellin out to nobody. this is the soudtrack to a movie that he was asked to do if you dont forget. If you listen to the the beats and the music you realize it gives a 1970s harlem renaisance old school jazz type feel. Thats bacasue that relates to the movie. He mentions verious rappers in movie that imitate gangsters including Frank Lucas's. That album is perfect for what its for
The goal for young rappers is to come up and get out of the game and better yourself. Jay got out became a better person and niggas be bad mouthin. He's on top no matter what anyone says!
starks said it. jay is still the hottest rapper out in my opinion but you gotta admit his flows ain't as hot now as they were back in that late 90s and early 2000s. he was hungry back then (not for money, but to blow up, cuz dude was already rich before he was rapping) so he put all his heart into his flows. now that he's almost a billionaire he still gives you good music, but i don't think he puts his whole heart into it like he used to. i like this joint tho
Jay Z is in my opinion the most talented rapper in the game. What I dont like about him is that he always goes for whats appealing to the mainstream, 92 jay is different from 99 and 99 is different from 01 and now. So even though he got skill, he aint shit to me. Nas said it metaphorically: "Whats sad is I love u cuz u ma brother u traded ur soul for riches"
I don't get it.. American Gangster album is in no way appealing to the mainstream, right? Yes he changes his style, but so does everybody. There's not a single consistent rapper, first album is always the most "hungry" album, like with movies, name at least one trilogy where 2nd and 3rd part are decent. And Kingdom Come was below Jay's level in my opinion, but he's stilla dope rapper.
Are you seriously saying it doesnt appeal to the mainstream when FRANK LUCAS was the talk of town?. N no rapper stays consistent because then he would become "old school" you are right, But one thing is keeping your essence and another is changing it to what the mainstream wants to hear. Like Jay Z in swagger like us.
"Party Life" and "Say hello" from american gangsta aren't mainstream and Jay-z puts a whole new sick style to it. Rappers evolve. He been there and did that style. He's going with the flow. If he'd stayed with the same style he'd be forgotten like other rappers.
Exactly... he'd be forgotten by who?? the mainstream listeners. The so called forgotten rappers u talking about dont make the cut because they dont fit that POP mold. N u mention two songs and expect to persuade me that Jay Z is not a mainstream rapper... Please..
I'm not really concerned in that consistence talk because it's a matter of opinion anyway. I've read on some site, don't know if it's true or not, that the crew that was making the American Gangster movie was thinking about inviting Jay-Z to writing the soundtrack to it, and that the reason they didn't do that was that preconcieved image about Jay-Z and his style.
