  • Good FIRST AID KIT!

  • Before you go and toss this in your truck I urge you to look into your states Good Sumeritan laws. If you pull over at a car accident and bust out this kit and someone bits it you may have your ass open for mal practice. Just food for thought

  • Sort of like purchasing an HP Scientific Graphing Calculator ... WORTHLESS *unless* you know exactly what to do with it, and exactly when to do "all that".

... Whe blood is squirting or when a victim's toung is swelling up like a balloon is NOT the time (too late) to acquire adequate skills and knowledge ! ...

SOLUTION: ? : TouTube has thousands of diagnostic, treatment, procedure videos which have been produced by qualified medical professionals !

.. Skills FIRST, then build your OWN kit.

  • The straps on the kit are PALS which work with the MOLLE system. I think the green strap is possibly a tourniquet. If that isn't a tourniquet, go ahead and add one like the SOF Tactical Tourniquet. If you open the sterile water it won't be sterile any longer so if you have done so, replace it. Chromic gut suture is for stitching up wounds. You might wish to add some combat gauze or other products like quickclot or chito-gauze. Finally, consider adding a tension pnumothorax needle.

  • the straps on the back are MOLLE straps, they are used to attach the bag to your FLC (fighting load carrier) or whatever load bearing gear you are wearing such as your IOTV or your ruck

  • Just wondering if anyone out there has heard of Mobil Medic Trauma Gear. Looking to get on eof their kits, just don't know much about them. Saw only 1 review of their kit on here...anyone know of any other reviews on their kits?

I was told to go to Galls, but they are expensive...I did a google search of them and saw they have over 1100 positive feedback on ebaY, but I want to see if anyone out there has used them.

  • FORCEPS NOT TWEZEERS

  • That's a camo version of the med kits we used to carry with the Marines, just very, very full. Typically we wouldn't carry all that stuff into combat. That first bandage (w/the safety pins) you thought was an Ace bandage, I think that's a triangular bandage. Absorbable sutures are for internal sutures, not for the skin. Nice video.

  • first off...that is NOT a military issue bag, that would be a joke to any 68W, or 18D...second...the dressing, first aid field camo thing....THROW THAT SHIT AWAY....its a POC and completely worthless, i promise it will rip apart if u ever have to use it....third...the tongue depressors...tape them together to make a windlass for an improvised tourniquet, im not sure but i think the first thing u pulled out wasnt an ace wrap, but in fact a cravat, which u tie around a limb and tighten with the

  • @PureSMOOTH1 popsicle stick windlass...hemostats is the tweezer things as u called them, a good thing to have...you are gonna need more tape than that...and A LOT more gauze...i recommend kerlex or a h+h compressed gauze because u can fit a lot more in a small bag. the sterile water would be for flushing eye injuries, thats about all its good for...the ABD is abdominal....BUT if you take the time to read all this, the MOST IMPORTANT THING i can tell you is to get some combat gauze, its a

  • @PureSMOOTH1 hemostatic impregnated gauze for wounds to the armpit and crotch, where a tourniquet isnt an option. but you need lots of gauze and COBAN self adhering wraps, they are the must have item in any aid bag, u can use it for anything from wrapping a broken extremity to a twisted ankle to a pressure dressing...sorry the posts are in the reverse order of the way i posted them..."SO THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE"

  • @PureSMOOTH1 yes its a version of a vietnam era USGI M3 medic kit and is only about $50 - you can spent 2 or 3 times that just for an empty TSSI M9 or LBT 1562. and lets face it, its olny a joke after the 18D30 46 week skills training, and battlefield first responders arent any better than taking extensive CPR training - but i guess you'ed know that if U werent busy being a know it all

  • Nice Kit Bro, how did the training go. Also when looking back on this video is there anything you wish you could change. Stay Safe and fight the good fight.

  • You have a solid kit here. I know its a year old, but I am going to comment assuming nothing. I'd take a look at an EMT-B class and by pass the first responder. After taking the class, you will easily be able to cut your kit in half, and do more with it. Learning about your local protocols and laws will help you understand what you can and can't do to protect yourself as a resuce person. There ARE cases out there where someone was saved and sues the rescuer and wins. U don't want to be that guy.

  • Just to let you know the first item in the second pack is a clamp.

  • just telling u from experience throw away the medic scissors they suck get the scissors with the orange handles :) great vid man

  • @clownslider It doesnt matter what color the dern handles are!

  • That's probably an irrigation syringe for washing out wounds, eyes, etc. Though, even if it were a medication syringe, they'd probably remove the needle for civilian sale.

  • I saw this same kit at my local surplus place, but it was 70 bucks so I was wary. I'd rather get the bag and fill it myself, I've got a list. <_< Which might run me more than 70. So I'm not sure either way.

  • k im sorry but the 2 items you pulled out first where instant cold packs the 3ed item was a triangular bandage 3ed was a combat shell dressing

  • Oh really? Did not know that I mean ive seen different sizes of forceps but ya my kit supposed to have a pair but instead they just put a pair of scissors lol I'm going to my local surplus place Sunday and he has an unissued fak with everything in pristine condition, still has sulfa!!!

  • Remember medic always packs his own bag so he knows whats where, and if its there when he needs it.

  • OK first of all if your trained in first aid you will not be using the airway, that is strictly an EMT basic skill. Secondly you will not need a syringe unless it's for irrigation and thats too small for irrigation, invest in a bigger "cc" syringe. And finally as being certified in first aid you will NEVER administer meds, that has malpractice written all over it. As for carrying this bag in your car and using it I wouldn't advise to unless your certified, doing so will get u in major trouble.

  • @emtblack26

Not true on any of that. At all.

  • @Linussbugg 'Nuff said. I carry syringes too. If you can't use them, somebody else will find use in it when you need it. My motive is for when there is no STERILE stuff available. -Nax

  • @Linussbugg ugh yeah it is, don't know where your from but airway insertion is an EMT basic skill

  • @emtblack26 first responder course teaches you how to use the airways. i agree Linussbugg, everything you said was completely incorrect. that syringe is big enough as long as it has a tip to make the stream stronger. and using a first aid kit will get you in trouble?? come on dude, you come off as a complete jerk, probably because you think you are all that after getting an EMT license.

  • @kambelzful No, its just rather than wasting your money on an useless piece of equipment go and get some training. And no i don't think I'm all that but I can say I know how to use everything shown in the video plus so much more than the average responder and actually save a life with the equipment. So rather than taking a first responder course take your EMT course and get a better bag with more equipment that you can use. DUH

  • @emtblack26 Slow down hero. This is a personal bag. If he wanted to administer meds to himself, i doubt he will get in "major trouble". You're commin off a bit harsh on some of these folks, don't ya think.

  • all you need to do now is call a trained EMT who knows what to do with it.

  • Nice, no compresses though? And those silver "scissors" are forceps, when u have a bleeder u reach in with this and grab the vein, and that green "strap" is actually a turnequat, when someone gets shot u use that to stop the bleeding but for god sakes don't use either of those unless yur trained cus if u misuse those u got yourself a man without a body bag! Lol btw I'm 14:) lol

  • @Jonfavia

You use Kelly forceps for "the bleeders". Those forceps are the type used for sutering. The ends are too pointed on those forceps to be used in place of Kelly's

Yes, there are many different kinds of forceps.

  • I was a NAVY CORPSMAN and that bag looks like a Unit-1 thas was what we were issued 80-84 when I was in

  • @EMS1083 What is that I thought this was an M3 Medic bag in ACU

  • nice kit!!

  • 2:57 Those are haemostats i think, very cool kit !

  • To me, the simplest medical bag is simply a 2 foot by 1 foot by 12 or 18 inches deep.

It has to sit, squarely, on the ground without tipping, and the whole top must be open. Like a big ass purse, you need to get to everything by instinct.

Pouches are great, but they often get in the way, in a hurry.

  • i think those straps on there are for molle so you can put it on vests for combat dk know for sure

  • yea they are

  • Hi Nice Medical bag. Is it digital acu

  • the sucher kit you have is one of a hunder different kinds, they are not as hard to use as it looks in a pinch you could use it with no training (NOT REC!) but great video man i will subscribe!

  • Comment removed

  • cool little vid, def go get some training on that stuff you seem a little shaky. but you do admit not knowing what some of it is and have the intrest to learn. so great job just get that training. BTW that is issued we use it as a CLS bag now but medics use to carry it back in the day. but hey if you have any questions about any of that medical stuff feel free to message me. just remind me about this vid.

  • i would say this extra strap is a tourniquets

  • The "Surgical Scissors"-are called EMT Shears. They are used to cut clothes off to get to a wound.

The "Gauze w/ Safety Pins"-is a Triangular Bandage, to sling an arm or use as a tourniquet.

The "Pinchers/Grabbers"-are Hemostats. They are used to apply sutures, remove fishooks, stop arterial bleeding as a clamp. They are very handy.

And the syringe can be used with the sterile water to clean out a cut

    Great video!!!

  • nope. it's a canvas belt. i have the same kit. It is for attaching the splint to the arm.

  • those "tweasers pinchers grabbers" are called hemostats. they lock down and are used primarily in surgery to hold back tissue and clamp down on arterial and venous bleeding. can also be used as needle drivers for suturing or for taking out splinters.

  • very nice kit mate!

  • This is a very nice Med Bag. It is a M-3 field medic bag, just like the one's used from the Vietnam war up-to the 1st gulf war. You can exspand on this type of kit to suit your personal / group needs very well. Also this type of bag makes a great BOB. thanks for the video. Hamm336 from washington state

  • Thanks for the comments - definitely informative. I am taking a CPR class with the Red Cross in the beginning of November - was unable to get in this month. As far as an EMT class - need to do that as well. I have been keeping track of items I want to add to the kit (not so much the bag, but my overall medical supplies).

I believe this kit was made for the military so I can understand why they have some very specific items.

  • As I do not live in your state I'M not sure how they do it. But in a lot of state's you have to be on a Fire department ( Full time or Vol) or be on a Medical squad. But some states will let you take the class you just cant test and get your certification for state level/national. One plus about being on a fire department or a EMS squad is they will pay for the training classes. That's a plus last time i checked EMT-B (basic) was around 500-700 dollars.

  • @boomd1791 I noticed you have dogs in another of your vids. Our local humane society has first aid classes for animals, too. I tried to get in but it was full. I'll have to try again.

  • I do. I have a German Shepherd mix. That is a great idea. I will look into it.

    Thanks!

  • @boomd1791 me too : ) german shepherd mixes always have the size of a young dog :)

  • You will need to enroll into EMT classes to learn how to use the airway tools in your kit. Or look it up online or buy a book on it. But they don't tech airway stuff in first aid classes. They don't really tech it in EMT classes. EMT-B's are not allowed to to airways you have to be a upper level EMT/ paramedic.

  • EMT's ARE allowed to do basic airways, such as the OPA shown in the video, NPAs and others. Heck, some states even allow EMT-Bs to do advanced airways such as the King.

  • @Linussbugg Huge fan of the king tubes. Some protocols vary depending on the agency here in FL.

  • @militarysims well first aid is what you do while waiting for EMS to show up.

and if you're out in the woods you might not be able to get an EMT so its good to know how to use everything in your bag regardless of what certification you have. just make sure you really know what you're doing to avoid making the situation worse.

  • vary good video for your first one. The bandage with the safety pins looks seems to be a triangle bandage. The black scissors are called EMT scissors and are not used for surgical stuff ( but if that's all you had they could be used for that) The Silver clamp looking thing in the second compartment are called ss hemostats, The black strap in the last compartment looks like a Tourniquet. First aid classes are good. But they do not teach you airway stuff other then CPR and stuff like that.

  • Nice kit, and good that you are willing to take some first aid classes.
