I personally know Phil Dowd, and he is not a terrible ref. every ref makes a mistake or two, however fi they wasn't any good he would not be in a referee in the EPL. Also he is a very funny man with a great sense of humor.

Phil Dowd is an excellent ref. He doesn't buy into diving and he doesn't listen to player's bullshit. Sure i hate him too from time to time when the calls are against my club but thats just the way the game is. phil is fair and when he's referee you know that if someone gets a red they have probably committed murder.

Today he gave an yellow card to carragher after that incredible "Hole" he did to nani's leg. Such an asshole.

Phil Dowd was the ref who failed to blow the whistle after the 4 minutes of extra time was up when Arsenal played Sunderland away this season and then Sunderland scored an equaliser with almost the last kick of the match.

In the Newcastle match Barton's challenge was deemed fair, but when Arsenal attempt to tackle or defend with a fraction of the force of Barton he gives 2 penalties.

These decisions have made me look harder at this ref as it does look like he has an anti Arsenal bias.

How appropriate......Phil Dowd`s biological father must have been a drunk considering the way he runs around on the pitch like a headless chook. I`m sure his ex-wife was an Arsenal fan and that`s why he always makes life difficult for the Gunners. The Newcastle-Arsenal game on the 5/2/2010 was pathetic and biased amongst other things. Phil, you might not allow us to win a title, but the club will still be around when u crawl under a rock and cark it. Go Arsenal!!!
