  • wow. i didn't know what to expect coming into this one. i just... it was tragic and beautiful and more than i could've expected. the more of david's work i watch, the more talented he becomes in my eyes. i'm just so baffled.

  • I cannot even begin to explain how amazing this is. David Tennant is brilliant and fantastic. Well done.

  • Wow, my son had a traumatic brain injury and spent 4 months in a coma. When he became aware it was the happiest and saddest day of my life He didn't recognize us. My son was 19 would never return. That was 6 years ago. D.T. did a perfect portrayal of someone who struggles with sequencing and emotion called a blunted affect. Thank you for downloading, and taking the risk. perhaps someone will learn and be understanding of the behavior and struggles of someone with a brain injury.

    God Bless

  • thanks so much for the upload mate!! :)

  • Why is he crying?

Well, because half the viewers are.

  • Simply wonderful acting by al the main actors and actresses. I think David Tennant has done it once, again. Just when I thought there miht have been some area and subject he hadn't yet covered (and covered well, at that), I was proven wrong. But, I am GLAD that I was proven wrong about this. :)

  • I watched this when it was shown on BBC its amazing and i am so glad i found it on youtube means i can share it with friends :) thank you so much for sharing :D

    xxxxx

  • Awww! :D Such a great movie! The acting is outstanding! It's scarily realistic but touching at the same time. I hated Tricia but her actor was very good... and David Tennant.... just phenomenal.

  • though out the whole thing i told myself i wouldn't cry but those last 3 minutes got me and i have to admit i did cry at the end.

this is really good and DT is amazing. he really can do anything, from doctor who, to casanova, to single father to hamlet to this. really just wow. thanks for uploading!

  • i dont normally see the point in setting up a username to comment on things but after watching that film i wanted to personally thank you for the time you took to upload it as it was emotional to watch something done so precise in acting instead of over dramatised for tv

  • the monologue at 2:15, actually made me cry.

  • I know this has been said a lot, but thank you very much for uploading this. It hasn't been broadcast in France, so I'm very glad I could watch it here!

And David Tennant is such a brilliant actor! My heart is breaking everytime he cries.

  • Thank you so much for uploading it!

  • I love you so much right now. Thank you for putting it up. I cried at the end :')

  • Thank you so much for sharing this for we Americans. It reminded me of a more realistic version of Regarding Henry. Amazing acting!

  • i just cried for an hour over this :S

  • This part...this just killed me. My heart was ripped a bit apart when he cried with the song.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! Was so shocked when I found out it isn't on DVD. Speechless

  • That's good advice from the doctor: "Don't get chlamydia!"

  • Thank you for uploading this movie. I’ve been wanting to see this, since I discovered about David Tennant. It was emotional and just amazing. David is the most beautiful human being in the world. Not only that, but he is also a great actor, and I love him. The best performance ever. David Tennant will always be in my heart.

Thanks again for uploading this movie.

    Love Dee. :)

  • Amazing story, very emotional, I have never been in this situation and I wouldnt wish it on anyone. It was portrayed brilliantly by both David Tennant and Sarah Parish. Amazing acting and it must have been hard to film.

I hope this raises awareness of how it affects families with people who have brain damage and also how hard it is for the actually brain damaged person to live a normal life.

  • @5:40 I could imagine I was dancing with him make him happy. I put his head on my shoulder and saying ti him it's ok it's ok just remember you were back in the Tardis with me and we were flying around in space.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!

  • this movie was incredible!! so moving, and so i can't even say. The sad part is that it happens to a lot of Coma patients. Their behavior changes and everything. And David Tennant is a brilliant and beautiful actor and he just brings such life to every character. And sarah parish is just flawless i love watching her work all the time.

  • BRAVO! round of applause to David and Sarah. David is so amazing, gah! He has so much range. He really gets into the characters he roles and plays them in such a tremendous way. brilliant this is one of my fdavorites, by far.

  • Cheers to everyone involved on this movie, my thank you to them.

  • This has affected me worse than Requiem For A Dream, the content is different, but the sheer shock of it all and the stir of emotion it brings out. but the actors, my god there some amazing actors out there. This was brilliant. I can't really explain the way it makes me feel... I just hope that I never have to go through something like this

  • This movie touched me because of my grandma. She had a brain embolism and I lost her that way, so did my dad. He lost his mother because she couldn't remember who he was at all. I know how Tricia felt because my grandma who was so full of life was gone. She was physically there but her mind, personality, humor, and everything that made her what she was to us disappeared. This is one of the best dramas that David has ever done! I cried and laughed! David is such a brilliant person! Love him!!

  • one of the best movies i've seen in a looooonnng time !!! excellant. thanks for the upload

  • David Tennant is a brilliant actor! The scene at the end where Alan starts crying absolutely breaks my heart... :(

  • This is the best TV movie that I have seen by far. The brits make everything better, seriously.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. It made me cry. This lonely American thanks you from the bottom of her heart. What an amazing movie! And I don't think I could love David Tennant any more than I do now. He is an unbelievable actor!

    Kat

  • If DT was over here in America, he'd win Emmys every single year. The guy is phenomenal.

  • remarkable...just moving..thanks mate for putting this up.

  • I do believe I cried through most of this. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much for posting this drama. It was quite beautiful.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. It was one of the most sad and powerful films I've seen.

  • wow, this is an amazing movie and highly underrated..i can't believe it. such beautiful and brilliant performances! it's amazing and more people should see it. so real and very sincere in its approach to such a strong and difficult topic. BRAVO!!!

  • Brilliant doesn't even cover it. Incredibly touching, heart wrenching, but oh so admirable. It won't ever be perfect again, but what really is?!! It's all about making with what we've got, piecing the puzzle together the best way we can and keeping our faith that we will survive amidst it all. David had me bawling, especially at the "orange car" speech. I applaud this insightful production and thank David for bringing us such a moving but most importantly inspiring performance!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this movie! I'm a Doctor Who nut, who didn't realize it was David Tennant I was drooling over back in the 90's with Takin' Over The Asylum, and I hate the stupid polyjuice keeping his screen time so short in Harry Potter.

I LOVE YouTube! Keep up the DT postings!

  • Thank you for posting this. That was a superb movie. Amazing acting on both Sarah and David's parts. I cried the whole way through. My hat comes off to both of them.

  • David is such an amazing actor. Such a serious role, different from everything else I've seen him in, and he still plays it absolutely brilliantly. He never fails to impress me.

  • great acting... david is such amazing!! is there something he can`t do?...*cry

  • Ahh...

he's amazing in this, and is so damn fine, loved him in the Sarah Jane Adventures and this :D his acting's so good.

  • this was brilliant and so emotional. Was really impressed with David Tennant and Sarah Parish's acting.

  • this part made me cryy it's soooooo niiiceee... god. his speech.is so fantastic.

  • havnt cried like that since he regenerated in Doctor Who damn u David u always make me sob!!!! it was great though loved every minute a joy to watch as always.

  • In my opinion (you may feel differently about it) David Tennant is the greatest actor of all time, he can pull of any character in any script any time and make it a masterpiece. And this is him at his best!

Does anyone else agree that David wasn't able to reach his full potential in acting as much in Doctor Who? I mean, he had magnificent moments, but not as good as this drama (except from The End of Time).

    What is everyone elses opinion?

  • @stonemonkey999 What? Not able to reach his full potential? I completely disagree. I've been rewatching his seasons, and the emotional turmoil that character goes through leaves me breathless - I can't get enough. I would specifically draw your attention to the Family of Blood episodes (first one called Human Nature), as well as any time Rose is mentioned. Doctor Who showcased David Tennant's comedic timing, dramatic angst, and, at the risk of losing credibility, dead sexiness. "Allons-y!"

  • @anglomediaphile Exactly, it is moments like that that I feel he really is amazing. He is by far my favourite Doctor, people are suddenly saying that Matt Smith is amazing, but if they watched the David Tennant episodes again, they'd realise their mistake. I only cannot stress enough how much I love him. The greatest man to have ever lived. <3

  • That was fantastic, really made me cry, thanks so much for uploading it all :) Sarah and David are brilliant, I love David to bits, he's so gorgeous :D xxx

  • *cry* David Tennant...WOW, I love him as the Doctor, and after that, I love him so much moooore! Sarah is a such good actress too, liked her in Blackpool.

That 's just made my day, thanks for posting =')

  • The man is AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • this movie is beautiful. thanks sooo much for uploading.

  • That was amazing, I have been crying for about 10 mins... I love david and he works well with sarah :D

  • This part made me cry! He is an amazing actor!

  • Thats so sweet how he takes all of the bags...

...and he cries so adorabley and realisticly too! This is just amazing, I've never seen better acting from anyone! David, I love youuuu!

  • I've just finished watching, just brilliant. I can't find the words to explain why, because like the character Alan, something is going wrong in my brain. I just know it was amazing acting, filming. Obviously very well written. Thank you very much for making it available to me.

    I'm Mary an I've got M/S.

  • "Dont get clymidia!" Lmao xD

  • As a few people have said, thanks again for posting! I'm also in the states and, like jenfnave, would never have been able to see this! Thanks a bunch!

  • Thank you for uploading this..I love everything that David Tennant does and this was brilliant! He is so diverse in all his roles. Glad to have been able to see this as I live in the States and this would never be released here. Thank you "kisses"!

  • Thank you (I think)! Finally plucked up the courage to watch this and now in a puddle of hysteical tears! You are a star for posting these. Missed them on tv coz our dvd recorder went mental and deleted everything... Is it available on DVD anywhere in the world?

  • I cryed :'(

    I LOVE this ! ! !

  • Just finished watching them all, thank you so much for uploading this. That was a stunning piece of grittily real drama at it's best.

  • Comment removed

  • This is so real, it takes me apart. Magnificent performances from all the cast. Incredible piece of work.

  • What an amazing story! David Tennant/Sarah Parish are great in this movie! A far cry from Blackpool and DrWho. Is there nothing David Tennant can not do, he is just amazing!! Love this guy!!

  • Amazing movie.

  • Can't remember the last time a movie has made me cry like that. Amazingly done. Though now I have a horrible emotion headache from bawling like a baby for the past 90 minutes, thanks David. -.-

  • That makes two of us with headaches. :)

  • She did feel guilty, you could see it on her face when she turned away from him, and when she was in her mates kitchen after.

  • LOL 3:52 IS HILARIOUS 'WAT U LUKIN AT?'

  • beautiful

  • Oh my god, i cried T_T

  • the film is almost over, yay, such a relief !!! it's so intense, wont watch it twice

  • this is so moving, i cant watch it without crying. DT <3

  • Where did you download this? (where can i download it) free preferably. could you send me a link or something? thanks :D

  • why can't we buy this on DVD anywhere ????

  • Thank you so much for posting this. It really was beautiful. I appreciate things that can make me cry.

  • Profuse amount of gratitude for uploading!

Anything you upload of David's work, midcirclenine, is greatly appreciated for those stuck across the pond who are unable to see it or anyone who wants some David or both. Thanks again! =D

  • Oh god I cried. I'm glad things got better for them. David Tennant is amazing.

  • this is amazing and they filmed part of this at the university i go to which is soooooooo awesome XD

  • "Don't get chlamydia"...Good advice.

  • A brilliant film. Thanks so much for posting it

  • Oh, He made me cry :) absolutely brilliant

  • I was only able to watch snippets and bits of this film because it was just too painful. Perhaps one day I'll make it through the whole thing.

I have to say, though, David and Sarah were both wonderful in everything I saw, especially in the scene when she says she'll take what he's got. It's so beautiful.

  • This is the 5th time I've watched this, and it still makes me cry every time ! :'(

    Thanks for uploading !

    ☆ đคשιđ тεηηคηт fσяεשεя ☆

  • I love this film it shows just how good they are at acting out such a real life issue which affects many and every time I watch this I can't help but cry, it is really full of emotion. Brilliant film.

  • 4 years ago my gran had a stroke and she lost everything, memories, her personality and worst of all her sense of reality. It was horrific to watch my mum fight with her (trying to wash her hair, even to get her out of bed) though at the end of the day you just have to get on with it and do your best. No matter how much goes wrong, no matter how bad it gets they are still your family!

Its so hard to watch this, because my gran never actualy got better, not even close.

    <3 x

  • I hate how people look at David as capable of playing only the manic sort of person he plays in Doctor Who. This sort of role shows they're dead wrong.

  • David is a great actor...SUBLIME!

  • does anyone know the name of the song which plays at the end of the film?

  • thank you so much to have put it up!!!!!

  • Thanks for putting this up!!

  • Happy ending for a brilliant movie. :)

I actually cried, and I never cry when watching most things.

  • :'( This makes me cry every time I watch it. It's just so moving. Just... wow!

  • Damn thing makes me cry from the first 20 minutes right to the very end.

    Really gets to me :(

  • :) Brilliant. David's performance was flawless, I can't believe he's that good - the part must've been an extreme challenge.

I could rant forever about this movie.

  • if all women are like her, then i hope i can live without any woman in my life:(

  • no were not all like her :) but its not really her fault we all react different under stress and we never really know how we will react until it happens to us...

  • What a hussie, she slept with someone else and doesn't even feel bad! Lol.

  • Wow. Brilliant.

I knew he was good. I didn't know he was that good.

  • Thanks for uploading this great movie. I watch this since I like the actor and has received a petition on publishing this movie in DVD. Like to sign up but really need to watch it before. Glad to have it on youtube.

For those love this movie. Please go and sign up to get it onto DVD again. Just google with keyword: "Get Recovery onto DVD Petition".

Cheer David Tennant and Sarah Parish. Really Brilliant drama.

  • Thanks for the heads up on the petition. Have signed, and I left a comment with the message that some of the proceeds should go to the Headway foundation. This movie is extremely affecting, and revealing of not just what victims of brain injury go through, but of what their families' and friends' go through as well.

  • I literally got up on my feet to clap in the credits. That was bloody brilliant! I loved every single moment of it, and it was defintely the BEST 90 minutes I've ever speant sitting on my arse. Bravo David and Sarah! Cheers for uploading!

  • The bit with him writing the words and him crying...wow, it makes me cry every time.

Thanks so, so much for uploading this. I've been trying to find it everywhere since I've watched it on TV, but couldn't find it. They should make a DVD, they really should...

  • Thank you so much for posting this wonderful movie! David was amazing, as usual... Powerful performance!

  • David Tennant is so brilliant...!!!

  • I really love all of David Tennant's work.

  • I missed the original airing in 2007 and was so gutted as i waited for weeks for it. Thought id neveer see it so im bvery very grateful for the upload. Brilliant drama and a superb performance all round

David Tennant and Sarah Parish are absolutely amazing.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I just finished watching it all the way through and it's amazing. Incredibly painful, but amazing.

  • well the time with me right now posting this is 5:50 am , ive been up all night watching "Secret Smile" also with David Tennant , and this , this Drama/Film is absolutely magnificent , i thoroughly enjoyed it . come touching/sad parts and frankly some funny parts when he grabs the nurses arse and so on HA ! , but all in all an outstanding performance by David Tennant and Sarah Parish also !!

Thank you very much for uploading

  • This film always makes me cry. Completely brilliant acting on everyone's part. Cheers for the upload. :D

  • Thanks a lot. I had a great time crying through this. I LOVE David Tennant.

  • "postcode"

    "little bastard!"

    Always loved that bit!

  • Thank you SOOO much. Missed this when it was on and as it has never been released on DVD thought I'd never get to see this brilliant brilliant drama. David and Sarah were amazing!!

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

    What a tear jerker. T-T

  • God, this is so hard to watch yet I keep watching it because it's so well written and acted. Very brilliant...and heart breaking >.>.

  • *What* an amazing piece of work! Well-written, well-acted . . . wow! Thank you for posting it!

  • "Don't get chlamydia!" Is about the best advice EVER. No one should have been looking at him funny!

  • I feel absolutely menstral with how much this movie made me cry. Both of them were brilliant. Thankyou for uploading this amazing flick.

  • ohmygod . . . i have to wake up early tomorrow but i stayed up to finish this . . . a beautiful film and i cried at the end. . . and i NEVER cry when i watch films. thank you thank you thank you

  • Loved "Recovery" & LOVE David Tennant! This was one of his best performances in a long line of great work. He truely is one of the greatest actors of our generation. I will watch him in anything. When I heard he bacame a parton for Headway Essex & autographed cards for donations I knew I had to have one.....ok I got 2. What a great way to give to a worthy organization & have a piece of the man himself.

*sigh* If only more people knew about him here in the US.

  • this was actually wonderful. David Tennant is such an incredible actor.

  • I watched the end of this movie several times...it's amazingly sad and happy at the same time. It makes you grateful for every day you've had up until now. At any moment tragedy could strike and change yours or a loved one's life forever...haven't cried this much from a movie in a long time. Also both leading roles were amazing. David Tennant stole my heart though in this one.

  • THank you so much for posting this. I'm getting ready to defend my PhD in Neuroscience, and this has definitely helped motivate me to press on... even working through the 4th of July weekend.

  • thank you.

    thank you so much.

like everyone else, this made me cry.

but it's okay, because i'm going to be a neurosurgeon. and i'm going to make people like him better,

and hopefully i'll stick around long enough to help them remember things too.

    so thanks.

  • HAHAHA yeah!! DON`T GET CHLAMIDIA :P

    xx

  • Omg,i dident think i was going to cry at the end but i did

  • am crying like a baby.

  • "Dont get Chlamydia", hahaha

    David Tennant you sex god!

  • Such a moving film, I could relate to this drama quite well. I havn't had memory loss, but depression was the worst period of my life. It makes me wonder will I ever be normal again, and when this guy said it I burst into tears, something I don't let myself do often, mainly thats because 17 year old guys don't. Sometimes your head becomes your worst enemy, you think things that make your world seem hell. I loved this drama so much. Thanks a bunch for uploading

  • this is so good and so sad, made me cry

  • There's a movie about a girl dealing with her bro's mental disability that used to be on TV before it was taken off because parents didn't want their kids 'exposed' to it. (Gah.)

Recovery really reminded me of that movie, just in a more adult setting -- but just as heart breaking. The acting was actually so superb I forgot I was watching fiction -- the characters seemed so real. The plot was amazingly realistic too -- it didn't shy away from anything.

I truly loved this. Thanks for posting!

  • Are you talking about the movie Tru Confessions with shia labeouf?

the ending was very well acted.

  • Yes! Thank you. :)

  • the ending of this movie was very well acted i mean.

  • OMG I have been crying so much for the last 40 minutes of this, just such a heartbreaking story and David just plays the part so well!!

  • thank you.

  • Oh man. I'm like crying because of "what if I can't make you happy anymore? what if I can't come back?" and when she says, "I'll take what you've got." Aw.

  • seriously David Tennant give the meaning of what REAL acting is a whole different shape... i cried my eyes out because of this!

  • Did he say, "Don't get Chlamydia!"??? ROTFL!

  • same i pissed myself laughing and then cryed at the end

  • the bit where he's talking to his son about the orange car made me break down...

  • i cant help but cry wen he sed im gunna learn them of by heart aww i love david tennant 4 evr !

  • Thank you very much for uploading this. Great to watch it again...this made me cry so much the first time round ...and now! David's acting in this was superb and it shows he is truly a great actor!

  • I love him soooo much.

Who couldn't be glassy eyed, when he cries I cry.

  • Still makes me cry

  • I'm really not the tearing up type, but this last bit of the movie had me glassy eyed. Even though Alan doesn't remember much, he makes such an effort to start all over again. And, he's so sincere, his words so heartfelt. That bit with his son, then promising to relearn the words of their song for his wife...wow!

And the way David Tennant makes those well-written lines come alive is just beautiful to watch.

He's definitely my favorite actor from now on!

  • This is the first proper time I watched it since it was on TV, and it still makes me cry! It was amazing then and is amazing still. They are all brilliant in it and its soo emotional.

Thank you for posting it up :-)

  • This movie broke my heart.

  • beautiful, just beautiful

  • I made it through the whole movie without crying one bit...until the very end when Alan cries with Tricia! That was the first time David Tennant has made me cry on anything other than Doctor Who! I'm pleasantly surprised! :D

  • love harry treadaway!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for uploading this. I missed it when it was on and have only just watched it for the first time. The acting throughout was absolutely amazing from everyone. It was absolutely heart breaking but I love the ending. David Tennant never fails to have me in tears when he plays sad in anything. Thanks again for uploading!

  • Absolutely brilliant film... so sad, because it was so brilliantly acted I believed everything. I originally just watched this because I like David, but in a way, I completely forgot that it was him, and just got caught up in it. I absolutely loved this, and I thought the ending was perfect. As happy as it realistically could have been. David and Sarah were excellent together, just like in Blackpool. Absolutely amazingly acted, (Even though I know the actors won't read this) thank you so much.

  • Same here, I only watched it cause of DT, but I totally forgot it was him and not Alan. This is a brilliant film, and he's an amazing actor.

  • omg 5.30 am actually crying. easily their best work.both of them

  • I'd forgotten just how superb this was. Easily some of Tennant's best work, and a real eye-opener for me as to how good Sarah Parish can be.

  • simply AMAZING performance by the always wonderful David Tennant! never fails to deliver in a role.

  • This is one of a few things on TV that has actually made me cry. Amazing acting!

  • I can not express what this movie has done to me. i have never cried so much in my life. Thanks for posting such a great movie taht i would have never found.

  • i want to thank you for posting these. it was a great movie!!!!

  • Thankyou so much for posting this. I missed it first time round. David and Sarah surpassed their role's in Blackpool in this drama. Made me laugh, made me cry ,made me hope. Very realistic adaptation of the consequences how a brain injury can impact "normal everyday life" Whether by trauma or dementia related, the loss of " the person" you once knew is traumatising for all involved. The subtle humour running through this made it seem even more real. Brilliantly acted. Thankyou again xxx

  • omg, was it this hard for richard hammond's family?

  • The whole time watching this movie I kept thinking please don't end this badly. The whole thing has been such a downer we could really use a happy ending.

    Brilliant movie!

  • OMG! Possibly one of the best, most saddest movie ever =] there's something about movie's like this that give it more of personal quality, films that don't have major hollywood actors or major hollywood budgeting but they still tell an amazing story. I love it =], loved David in Doctor Who but this certainly gives him alot more depth!

  • You can see more of David if you just google him then click on the Wikipedia link. 5:30 was amazing!

    Lol "Little bastard!"

  • OMG! This was so amazing! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

  • Thank you for posting the movie Love. It was good. Almost got me crying, sadly it didn't. Amazing, amazing acting by all and shows the real side of recovering from any type of brain injury. Again thank you. I may just go onto Amazon and buy the movie.

  • Thanks so much for posting.

One of the best films I have seen for a long time. Great acting by everyone. It seemed so real. Even when the older kid & the mum were not being their "best selves" I could feel their pain. They seemed to be trying so hard and everyone has their breaking point.

Thanks again from Canada (where as a lonely Canadian I so feel stuck on the wrong side of the pond... I wish we had more stuff from DT here ... he is such a great actor and can play so many different roles)

  • Crying too much...

    Amazing acting

  • ps so much for thinking you would struggle to get 2 pages of comments *grin*
