  • Wow, such a good song. The first time I ever heard this song was when it was covered by the metal band Blind Guardian, I didn't realize it was a cover till just now. This is the second Uriah Heep song covered by a modern metal band that I have heard, I can see why so many people wish to pay homage to them in such a way. I've got to get this album.

  • wow i forgot about them they very good

  • And he Drank My WINE!!!

  • where i find this album in the internet?

  • @curefm2 Well you can always buy it from Amazon. Running for a low low price of $7.99 right now.....

  • How can this be so great?

oh right it's Heep forget what I said

  • Sitting in a dorm room in 1972 and 19 years old and stoned looking at that album cover and going into another world. I learned a lot in college.

  • YES INDEED YES INDEED DON'T GET HUNG UP OVER EASTER!!! CLIO MICHIGAN AND THE MILLION SILVER STARS THAT GUIDE ME WITH THEIR LIGHT!!!

  • gotta love those background vocals!

  • Yep! lot of acid trips to this album back in the day. I do miss those times.

  • thanks for sharing.... gets no better

  • I haven't heard this song since the early 70's. My sister had this album. Always liked it.

  • yeah am 60s this was breaking songs still if you listen to the voices in your hearst

  • my love of a song

  • people are talking about being baked on Uriah Heep..Yes this song was my go to song during the early 70's for shake and bake music...

  • I bought this LP when it first came out...driving in my first car a "67 Volks Beetle with custom A/C and a radio Shack

  • shit hot

  • oh ya boggy with this campin, up in ontario canada, what a album

  • entertaining angels unaware a misty mountain hop on a magic carpet ride ... star gazing blind sight .... "roger Dean " He Knew

  • Great Song! Brings back pleasant memories for me.

  • I got my lava lamp on warp 1

  • μαγεια.......

  • friend of my mother brought me alot vinyl albums and also me and my mother found in some Cabinet of hard rock music deep, purple, alot of uriah heep,ac/dc, and more

i got uriah heep very eavy very umble on us cover and first cover and look at yourself with the mirror on cover that i can look at myself and uriah heep magician birthday and is cool the only problem:IM FUCKING DONT HAVE RECORD PLAYER!!!!!!! im really want one

  • OMG i just found these guys, i've heard covers of a ton of their songs, this one by Blind Guardian and Lady in Black covered by Ensiferum.

  • It's post woodstock, a standard was set. Jimi past Janice past. Where dose the music go? DISCO! OH NO YOU DON"T RAZAMATAZ!!! AND OZZI !!

  • SPINAL TAP!!!!

  • @clucaspik Meh, Spinal Tap can't hold a candle to Heep. Uriah Heep rules.

  • @bunnygal079 OK .....Spinal Tap, as I'm sure you must know, is a fictitious group. The movie, This Is Spinal Tap, is a spoof on '70s bands like Uriah Heep. Bit if they had been an actual band they would have been better, b/c their amps went to "eleven"

  • @clucaspik ..Yea I've seen that movie many times and know what it's about. I don't think they would be better than Uriah Heep but that's just my opinion. I don't think it's fair a great band like this lives under such a shadow. Alot of their music was serious, and is up there with Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple,etc..

  • 3 R's.....Righteous, Radical and Right-On!

  • @whoadude1959 Hes no beiber vocally but the bands music is better.

  • absolutely fantastico

  • He made that guitar ring. Nice

  • My old man gave me his record collection, this and several other uriah heap albums were among them.

A generation later, I'm sitting in my room baked listening to the same records my dad listened to when he was baked at my age. Nifty stuff.

  • @dmBearcat You received a great gift there. I don't have to envy you because I have a collection from then also. Happy listening and don't forget to replace you r precious vinyl back in its dust cover. PEACE.

  • @dmBearcat wicked cool bro.

  • @dmBearcat aha I wish I had the record, all my dad had was the Demons and Wizards cassette.

  • @dmBearcat Your old man is from my generation. Taste in music the same....can't do much better that Heep! Early ELP is good stuff, too! Early Grand Funk also good! :)

  • @dmBearcat - genetically encoded!

  • @dmBearcat Thats a great story!! Maybe you can serve fries at the same fast food restaurant your Dad works at too ya fucking hippy!!

  • @dmBearcat youre lucky, my dad had a huge vinyl collection too.. about 300 albums.. sold them all for only 25 bucks like 12 years ago.. id wanna just sit there and bake to this shit too like my dad would also do lol

  • @dmBearcat Same here bud, same here. Except my dad had mostly Sabbath albums (:

  • ...and the million silver stars that guide me with their light @ 2:22...

  • Learned the intro guitar part back in the 70s...I remember the drop-D tuning messing with my head.

  • And as he spoke I felt a deep desire to free the world of its fear and pain

and help the people to feel free again. Why don't we listen to the voices in our hearts?

Cause then I know we'll find we're not so far apart.

Everybody's got to be happy, everyone should see.

For we know the joy of life and peace that love can bring.

    (Always, great words to ponder.)

  • @ralphyboy25 Yes

  • smoked my first of many joints for the first time to this song in jr high.

  • Pure greatness...saw them live only once during the 70s when their music was playing in all of our car stereos...Big bags of Mexican Green, A case of 6-8packs of Mller Pony and some good looking chicks!!!

  • @1stSaintsFan eeek mex was dirt poor and cheap (smoke 3 to get a good buzz)...sorry you didnt get the columbian or the cambodian...oh well god deals the hand...........

  • @fuzzypige222 ...I am glad for your concern. The Mex was not skunk it was Oxacan Gold/Green. It is sold for premium prices today..That was when I was 13-15 dude...By 16 we graduated into Lebanese gold and Afghani Black Hash...Didn't smoke any rolling except Columbian Red Bud and Thai Stick...

Dazed and Confused is one of my favorite movies. My senior year was 1975 and the movie is based on graduation in Texas in 1976...Pink Floyd & friends were just like me and my crewe...Cajun Out!!!

  • @1stSaintsFan thanks for the reply..yeah the mex was sucky back then as you say...maybe after 30 years its better..as you say

  • that wizard was really his LSD dealer

  • cloak of gold and eyes of fire, and as he spoke i felt a deep desire, to free the world of its fear and pain.....and help the people to feel free again.....

  • WHO!? WHO DARES DISLIKE THIS!

  • This song sends me on a wicked trip, love it <3 This band in damn amazing.

  • To fuzzypige222:

Opinions are like butt holes. Everybody has one and they all stink.

    Heep forever.

  • @madmax5556 youre right my friend....I am still listening to this song so definitely Heep LiveS...just saying that for those days Heep was not much above just another typical/acid/rock/ bacn, didnt seem to stand out much...too much other good music cranking? (Yes, Johnny Winter, Allmans, etc etc..)

  • @fuzzypige222

You're right also. Didn't mean to be so abrupt.

    My apologies

  • these lyrics hold up!!!!

  • lol they are not underrated...The people who truly listens to Rock Music they know how great Urial Heep are...Personal i consider them equal to Pink Floyd and Deep Purple...:)

  • If my best friend in school who moved to jacksonville Fl. from ST. louis is watching this I'm looking for ya!!in between the the trailor lol DINSMORE

  • Mike Box = Derek Smalls

  • i had them all up to `return to fantasy' by 1975 .

my demons and wizards was on the mercury label .

including their jan.1973 live lp .

demons and wizards was released originally prior to mercury , i can't remember exactly but it might of been `island' ???

  • kk these guys sucked except for this song.....thank goodness for this song...like a lot of bands...art happened

  • biao either look at yourself or this one deamons and wizard or migacian birthday u CANNOT go wrong

  • come back to Montreal

  • Whats the best Uriah Heep album to get you guys ?

  • @JamiroquaiDaMan Demons & Wizards is my favorite studio album. For a live album Uriah Heep Live, Jan 1973. Try to get the complete live album with the Rock and Roll Medley. Some CD's don't include the R&R Medley, unless it's a double CD. Enjoy!

  • @mtzimm thanks

  • Used to listen to this with my dad as a kid. Still do to this day. One of my favorite songs.

  • Mick Box is Santa Claus!!! Great record!

  • UH is just great!!

  • This album is nothing but class.

  • Just got this album on vinyl today. :D

  • @DinofFire ...Congrats join the club...I got my new copy on Vinyl in 1972...

  • @1stSaintsFan Since you got it when it came out, you're superior to me in some way?

  • @DinofFire ...You took it the wrong way...I am glad people are discovering great music that I had the priviledge of enjoying in my youth...UH were great live back in the day...John Wetton the great bass player was with UH for a short while...Best bass performance I ever saw except for Chris Squire in his YES days...Have a great night and I love the Heep!!!

  • @1stSaintsFan Oh, sorry for that. Most people on youtube are trolls. It is a decent band, I think I like Tull a little better. Still good though. :P

  • @1stSaintsFan Amen brother, I was 17 in 1972 and when this album came out, I dropped the low E string on my brand new Yamaha 12 string and learned every song on this album. What great memories I still have of the music you and I grew up on:)

  • @DinofFire

Well ain't you a happy hipster?

    lol jk

  • @TehBirdzNBeez Nah, man. Hipsters don't like good music. Hipsters claim to like the Beatles, but they only like Come Together. lol That's the closest they get.

  • @DinofFire I've always liked the Stones more.

  • @nate556 I like them too. Neither are my favorite though. Personally, I do like the Beatles more though. Both are legendary. :3

  • @DinofFire Beatles had some good ones, no denying that. The Stones just resonate with me more.

  • @DinofFire

    Helter Skelter

  • @DinofFire "Hipsters claim to like the beatles, but they only like come together" I've been saying that for YEARS

  • @klawtheclown Good for you? lol

  • Respond to this video... Everybody mail him a bag of shit!

  • @neo235 Old Enough to have seen them Live ... we had a great AGE !!

  • About the best vocals you will ever hear out of a rock band, with a lead vocalist that isn't named, Plant, Daltrey, Gillan or Osbourne. Great rock song, and the lead in acoustic guitar is brilliant. These guys should have realized what they had and stayed together longer. I'd pay to see them today in their original form. Fortunately I have this album on vinyl, loaned to me by a friend back in 1973 or so, and for some reason he never got it back.

  • @HighMomentum1

You're perfectly right , Dave Byron was an outstanding singer just like Ian Gillan and Ronny James Dio!

  • just tonight I did not want to cry

  • In one vid Box is probably tuned standard and is playing C the same time Hensley is playing 'D' but I think Hensley is tuned dropped C - C G C F A D.

  • cheap sherry and candles wow takes me back

  • Why does everyone play this song in the wrong key?

  • @JonasPlanck can u tell me what key its played in?

  • @AtoZ2007 This original studio version is a C, but the easiest way to play it is in D with a drop-D tuning on the bass string. There are several covers on youtube, by varying bands of varying skill, and they all seem to use a different key, some are in G, some A, even an Eb with a capo... In the live version the Heep uses C, but the guitarist is clearly playing it as a D if you look at his fingers. I suspect my tuning fork may be off a step. Damn wizards.

  • I think only jethro tull has put out as many albums. Anyone know of a band that has done more LP's?

  • I think only jethro tull has put out as many albums. Anyone know of a band that has done more LP's?

  • The Wizard was a cool dude ;)

  • i am 21. my dad taught me well in the evolution of rock n roll as well as metal. i love this band. my dad used to play it all the time when i was a kid. i love these years of music. but ill be honest.... im a metal fan more. THRASH METAL TILL DEATH!!!

  • magical times!! magical band!!

david byron r.i,p the best era ever!!

  • This is one of the best stoner album ever.

  • good song but I thought Uriah Heep was anime and wizard was the song from Ozzy but not a total downer though

  • Love this Band...........True Masters of Rock.

  • Stunning perfection.

  • This and Magician's are simply CLASSICS on the highest level. These guys kick later Metal in the Ars. big time! This is when the genre was happening.

  • @wigginsdesign can't believe where this music takes you on acid in your teens

  • @animascat HA! yes in deed. this is when I was into microdot/blodder and along with the mystical/fantastical musical journey, Roger Deans art took me far far to magical places. btw I am an graphic animator. I put Deans work to motion. Search this on Youtube: Roger Dean Art Anim Montage

  • Demons and Wizards got tons of airplay back in the day. Not sure why people have forgotten what great music sounds like.

  • This band was over looked, like Nazerth, because of all the great band of 70's,

  • My step dads favorite song, i miss you man, Keep rockin on, ill see you later in my life again, i know. Keep being a Coexisting peaceful man, i know you will. I learned so much from you.

    To Craig.

  • It really is a little strange for me to read some of the posts from my younger friends about how they "never heard of this song" or "never heard of this band" but they are really digging the music! I used to have Demons and Wizards and The Magicians Birthday on 8 track and wore them out on my Marantz stereo. Love Uriah Heep. Yes, they actually used to play this music on AOR (album oriented rock) radio stations!

  • They are singing about a dealer i bet :)

  • So beautiful!! Brings back such great memories of seventies hard rock when I was in high school..

  • My Fav UH song!

  • 1979, Hassbergen Germany... I was stationed near there and spent many a night reading high while listening to this album.... good times

  • Demons and Wizards: Most underrated album of all time?

Uriah Heep: Must underrated band of all time?

    Yes, yes.

  • @peniosasdasd I have to agree with you 100% I believe that there was a short window of time when Uriah Heep was probably the best group out there at the time . Demons and Wizards and then the Magicians Birthday great music by a great group

  • @peniosasdasd not underrated, just overlooked

  • @peniosasdasd Uriah Heep, Hawkwind, Budgie and anything by Thin Lizzy and Blue Oyster Cult not played on the radio, all heavily underrated.

  • @peniosasdasd My brother had this album-but I listened to it. Very cool. In many ways it's unforgettable.

  • Me too

  • thai stick lol

  • ah yes... some good hash and the tunes and a long open road...

just days of youth. have never forgotten...

P.S. if you weren't there SUCKS TO BE YOU!

  • give me back my B-SIDES goddamned the 21st century sucks

  • Uriah Heep did some great stuff back in the day. No ,you wont find this on main stream radio.

  • when you have nobody but you have songs like this, it makes life a bit more worthwhile

  • @badcoraphael I know EXACTLY what you mean. My husband died suddenly & unexpectedly when he was 40. So I have been "Forced" into being single and alone. If it wasn't for music, I would have gone out of my mind. I was fortunate enough to have grown up in the '60's and '70's so I had a great introduction into music which in turn gave me a great appreciation for it. It really has brought light into some of my darkest days. I "Know" that music is good for one's soul. It's kept my going.

  • i destroyed the turntable's pick up with this tune....beautiful song, like many of this band

  • man what a time it was

  • I prefer Blind Guardian's rendition of this song.

  • It's funny to read some of these posts. Uriah Heep was my first concert in the mid 70's. They warmed up for KISS on the Destroyer Tour. I had this album on 8 Track. Don't know 8 Track? Ask your grandfather. Wow, I'm old... HA!

  • @goinggreyfazt I remember them from the 4 track & vinyl years...my first concert was AC/DC with Bon Scott as frontman...those were the days of Rock!

  • @goinggreyfazt Damn, that is amazing Uriah Heep warming up for KISS in the fall of 1976 was the very first concert I ever went to also.Definitely a kickass show and LOUD....damn my ears rang for 3 days, in fact I think they are still ringing. It was reported the next day that the concert was responsible for cracking the ceiling on Syracuse War Memorial...lol

  • @goinggreyfazt 8 tracks are a great sound if played on a good system.

  • @goinggreyfazt Uriah Heep, I have all their LP's (that plastic disc) Absolutely brilliant, love em (even though my motherhated them hahaha)

  • @goinggreyfazt right behind you....I've seen them open for both Judas Priest and Jethro Tull , among others many times........and I was cleaning out a closet and found a Foghat - Fool For the City 8-track.......the one where he's sitting in the road and fishing down a manhole on the front....great concerts were almost weekly then.... i only go to see Iron Maiden anymore

  • @goinggreyfazt Dude I'm 19 and I know 8 track. I apologize for 95% of my generation being stupid. Then again with how old my parents are, I should probably have been born when you were.

  • @goinggreyfazt I get lost on some of the other stuff! But when I find myself on music from my youth I feel young again. The sound that comes from 8 track kinda sounds better too dont you think?

  • @goinggreyfazt me too. ain't no rock like this anymore!

  • @goinggreyfazt I used to listen to 8-track as a kid (beach boys, elvis, and 3 dog night.. Cassettes were out, but we where the poor kids. It was good though it opened the world of music to me that I now love. Thanx salvation army music center (LOL)

  • @goinggreyfazt I used to listen to 8-track as a kid (beach boys, elvis, and 3 dog night.. Cassettes were out, but we where the poor kids. It was good though it opened the world of music to me that I now love. Thanx salvation army music center (LOL)

  • @goinggreyfazt Uriah Heep opening for KISS............ hmmm ? Seems like it should have been the other way around.

A superior progressive/folk/hard rock blended group opening for some New York City 'Glam' Rock band? That ain't right.

  • @goinggreyfazt My cousin was at the Milwaukee show,I was too young to go ,but I cut the articles out of the paper the next day.Paul Stanley was on the front page.Back when it was just great to be a rock music fan.Nobody gets it these days.

  • @goinggreyfazt .....my 8-track...still works....and I use it all the time out in my garage. It's cost me $2 grand to convert all my 8-tracks to CD's or digital!!

  • @goinggreyfazt at least we got to enjoy the music and the HIGH times we both could have died young

when we knew everything !!!!!!! LOL !!!!!

  • @robertohneiserfilms check out abominog by uriah heep major album
