question...is there a way to fully close an app by clicking the "x" thingy..you know like the pc does?? cuz im frustrated about pressing command q or clicking quit from the app menu...im used to pc so click the x most of the time but when i look on the activity monitor the app is still running

hey can you help me pls my itune it is malfunctioning and realize when i play vid from the internet it open by itself and starts to play all crazy and it very disturbing and annoying can u pls help me or wat you think i should do?
@PixxelProductions Actually Windows is much easier to use. How do you delete items on a mac? Just playing i know how but what are those keys again? Windows right click and delete or just click the delete on the keyboard. If a dvd doesn't boot properly mac gets stuck on it so no manual ejection button. I can go on on how bad mac is for its price. Linux is what mac should be and Linux is free :|. Mac and Linux or basied off of what?
It is not as easy as you say. At the Windows for example you have to go to *abmelden* (i dont know what it is called in english) and then you have to click on sign up for shutting down! Mac is much easier if you know how to use it, and i think THATS the point why Windows and Mac users have theyre Arguments.
@PixxelProductions "abmelden" = log off? In XP click on the menu button and then click shutdown and select log off and in vista and windows 7 just select menu button and then there is an arrow to the shut off and select log off... how hard is that? It's no more different then OSX. I've never heard of sign up for windows to log off, you got something different.. I use both OSX from 10.3 to 10.7 i think its 10.7 lion, and Windows 98 to windows 7 and windows is still much easier to use.
@PixxelProductions I use both Mac and Windows and the shutdown are easy on both machines. But what about the delete button? and no manual eject button? So if you wanna test out a bootable cd and it doesn't boot right then mac will not boot the OS :|, which i did find away to take it out without needed to take it to apple or taking it apart. On OSX you need to know a certian finger dance to use the mouse as for windows u get a right click menu :|...
You actual idiot, Mac's are insane, primarily for editing, but are capable of running basic games. They're perfect for all web use as well. The only thing Windows really has that's a big advantage is the gaming capabilities and the cost. (I use a PC currently) :)

Hey may I ask you something? I have an imac 27 (2010) and a Toshiba Tecra-notebook which is very old already. Is there a way to connect both monitores so that my Notebook is like a second screen? I hope you can understand what I men. Like having 2 monitors.
I've always used a pc so I don't know anything about Mac and I want to do video editing , some say Mac is better for that but others say pc can do the same thing, which so I choose?pls somebody reply that actually knows what there talking about!
@johnjohnstrick If you're serious about it you might want to consider a mac. Look at the programs you can use on both platforms - look at the features of iMovie on the mac, and of video editing software on the PC and see which ones cater to your needs the best. Personally, as a windows to mac convert, I've found things are often more intuitive on a mac, whilst still being just as, or more, powerful. But make sure it's actually worth your time, effort and money to switch, do you NEED a mac?
@johnjohnstrick Personally I haven't done a lot of video editing, but when I have I've found it easy with iMovie. It usually comes with a new mac, and it has a wide variety of features, in-built media and effects to use. This is good for simple editing, but if all you're doing is simple stuff, look at windows movie maker and see if it does what you need (it's not powerful though), otherwise watch some videos about video editing on a mac. Take a look at Adobe After Effects as well.
@johnjohnstrick In the end it depends whether you're just playing around, in which case you might not want to bother, or if you're serious. If you are you should defnitely look around the internet for videos and tutorials about macs and video editing on macs to see if it's worth it. They're definitely better for video editing though. Also look at what the mac is like overall, office apps (ms office and iwork), using the internet, and more, if oyu switch you'll need to learn a bit about using
@johnjohnstrick macs. You may find them to be much easier to use, less frustrating, and a lot more powerful. Take a look at OS X Lion that's coming out in July as well, and see if you might want to switch to a mac anyway, but only consider it if you have the money to switch and can afford the 'mac lifestyle' (you might need to upgrade your computer every 4-5 years) and whether it will make your life more complicated when you give files to people with pcs (you have to save in the right format)
@guzguz21 They're both UNIX systems. But no system can really look like another. Especially not Linux as there are A LOT of different desktop enviroments, the most popular being Gnome, KDE and XFCE. They all look different. What Mac and Linux do have in common (as a big one) is the Home folder.
@Kiliankoe Well I still think their GUIs look very similar (colors, menus, navigation...) but if anyone is to blame I'd say it's Linux the one that is imitating OSX.
@Guessmylevel Why would you base your needs of a computer on "impressing your friends" and "looking good" so you're saying it can look pretty but have 256 RAM and 20gb of hard drive space? Not to mention the rest of the computer?
i have some questions: how do u close / minimize or maximize windows ; can u put shortcuts on the deskto like on a pc ? and how do i connect to the internet?
Hey, I'm about to buy a new Mac (1st Mac Ever) and do I have to buy a new Mac Airport Express, or can I use my old modem and DSL, because I really don't want to waste money, thanks.
Is there another organization application besides iCal? I remember there was purple screen that is similar to ical... But I don't know how to open that...Can you help? Thanx.
this is a personal opinion but apple is a epic fail i work with Linux and it works perfectly for me and just to let you know i am not some giant computer nerd but i am self taught.and in truth i do not even know how to do any programing but i want to learn but if i had a apple mac it would deprive me of that opportunity apple is NOT all that they crack up to be
@c3cool you could just as easily learn programming on your Mac. you have acess to a terminal just like you do with a Linux distro. If you personally don't like OSX, that's just your taste, but i have used Windows for years, hundreds of Linux distros, and OSX Snow Leopard is STILL the best OS i've ever used in my life. It's the only OS that I can't really find a fault for (other than lack of gaming support which is more down to developers)
@j800r well even thought i personally do not like apple i am going to have to learn how to use one that is why i watched this video in the first place the first reason is a friend of my parents revived a iMac for Christmas and want me to teach her how to use it and the other reason is because i am going to collage in graphic design and it is almost required to get a mac (they say it is the best thing for that ! ."a creative environment ") so yeah
After years of PC's, I got a MBP at Thanksgiving. It's been a much steeper learning curve than I expected. I purchased Move2Mac to from Detto to help transfer files, photos, itunes, pics, etc. DON'T waste your money on this software - it is pure garbage, doesn't work, and the "support" from Detto is worthless. They couln't get their own software to work.
I have a IPod Touch w/ all the data in my itunes library on it. So instead of bringing my pc to a genius or buying the transfer thing, can I just connect my ipod touch to the mac and itunes will say "transfer purchased items"?
@Syaaaweirdo they do not get viruses. They have the most advanced computer technology in the world that we know of. To get more info, go to apple.com and find something along the title of 'why a mac' and there is all the details you need :] I'm getting mine in a week! I am so excited!
@austinlovesmacs PC's don't get viruses either, you know. Although, with all the bestiality you watch, I doubt this would apply to you. Right, anyway, so what do Macs have, besides their useless motherboard, that PC's don't have?
@austinlovesmacs Do not even think like that. Don't say Macs have the most advanced computer technology in the world just 'cause the fact that they get little viruses. The only reason they get so little viruses, is because of the fact that PC's have are all over the world, compared to Macs..just 'cuz you read that bullshit on the site doesn't give you all the info you need to know along the sidelines of computer technology...
if you mean have mac and windows installed I think you will need 2 internal hard drives (I would not recommend it cause you would need to physically take out and put in different hard drives) I'm not sure though. It will be easier to just buy a new computer unless your a computer "genius."
@GabSoh1 You don't need 2 drives. You just need to partition your HD so that part of it runs OS X and another part of it runs Windows. One partition will not affect the other, that is if you get a virus on your Windows partition, it does not "spill over" onto your Mac side. Boot Camp Assistant is easy to use and will walk you through the steps of partitioning your drive and installing other OSes.
lockerz do not get you a free mac, they never have stock (at least not in the 2 years ive been on their site) look at my page for a way to get some realistic prizes
i dont care what anyone wants to say but i had an hp with windows previously but then i just got an imac and i love it! its sooooooo much better than windows. it has sooo much storage too. there is DEFINETLY nothing better than mac os x snow leopard. it crushes everyone of its opponents including windows into bits! everyone reading this right now can trust everything i just said!
apple as a whole is a lot better than windows and windows cant compare to the OS macs are running so just get over it people and just another fact WINDOWS tried to copy apple with it's new OS windows 7
really? is that why since 1986 people would rather use the "Inferior" windows then even look at a mac? people like their options. pc's are easy to repair if a problem occurs, you can get them cheap, and its the same with windows when a problem occurs its easy to fix. also the user interface for windows is far better. mac is for simple people who barely know what keyboard is. now the only thing i can think about that is better on a mac is the lack of virus's that's a godsend for porn fans.
@FreonRose These are mostly opinions. Most people used VHS, which was far inferior to Betamax back in the day. It's about marketing and about what people are used to. If your first introduction to computers is Windows, you don't want to have to get used to a new OS, even if it's a much better one. As for problems, Apple makes the machine, the applications and the OS. With Windows, you're potentially dealing with three different companies all blaming each other for your problems.
but before you go thinking that's a bias response i can name one os that can stomp both and that would be a linux. its in no way simple infact you'd probably need a college degree in programing but for a person capable that os can do some amazing things
@FreonRose The thing is the average person does not want to get a degree in programming just to be able to use their home computer. They want to actually, you know, USE their computers to get on with their lives and do things. Not saying there's anything wrong with being a tech head, but I want to create music, edit video, and have a seamless computing experience for every day things. I shouldn't HAVE to get a programming degree to do that.
theres no way windows is better than snow leopord, and windows is not easy to use compared to anything on a mac, people just think there complicated beacause there expensive
i found it, no i meant those white icons, like when u start msn, theres a white thing on the desktop that says msn, its called a volume ( in the info ) but just seems ugly, found it now tho
@quest8899 sure they are easy to use but windows doesn't believe in doing what is right for the customer if I made windows I would make security a high priority like a built in protection not all this Norton stuff. Mac saves you money after the initial blow.
@YoungFl0 ok, go to the piratebay(.)org, look up 'LEO4ALL" or "IAKtOS" download that and burn it to a DVD-R or DVD+R. pop in the dvd, and boot from it by changing your bios to load the cd before the hard drive (if u dont know how to do, check on youtube, if you dont find the answers, pm me).... after that, it should say, "press any key to boot from _________________"
@YoungFl0 It's safe for your Mac. If something goes wrong with your Windows partition, it won't affect OS X. You'll need to treat your Windows partition exactly as if it were its own PC, meaning you'll need to get anti-virus software and everything. However, any viruses you get on the Windows side will not affect OS X.
@oneironaut420 ok thank you. I already did all that but i was using leo4all and when i started to boot it up and stuff it was ok for a while and came out with errors, still waiting for root. The problem before was that it could not recognize fireware security, so im going to try iaktos.
load up the cd, select your language, go to the finder bar an go to utilities->disk utilities, partition your drive into how many you want to have, make sure the one you are going to install leopard on is a jurnal (or something lika that) partition.
exit, keep on going until you see a button called customize on the bottom left corner. then, click the button and make sure you have the correct drivers for your computer selected. click done, and install..,

I am so excited!
austinlovesmacs 1 year ago
@austinlovesmacs PC's don't get viruses either, you know. Although, with all the bestiality you watch, I doubt this would apply to you. Right, anyway, so what do Macs have, besides their useless motherboard, that PC's don't have?
MaoiMeowi2 1 year ago
@austinlovesmacs Do not even think like that. Don't say Macs have the most advanced computer technology in the world just 'cause the fact that they get little viruses. The only reason they get so little viruses, is because of the fact that PC's have are all over the world, compared to Macs..just 'cuz you read that bullshit on the site doesn't give you all the info you need to know along the sidelines of computer technology...

What is so good about mac? I thought of getting one..

if you mean have mac and windows installed I think you will need 2 internal hard drives (I would not recommend it cause you would need to physically take out and put in different hard drives) I'm not sure though. It will be easier to just buy a new computer unless your a computer "genius."
GabSoh1 1 year ago
@GabSoh1 You don't need 2 drives. You just need to partition your HD so that part of it runs OS X and another part of it runs Windows. One partition will not affect the other, that is if you get a virus on your Windows partition, it does not "spill over" onto your Mac side. Boot Camp Assistant is easy to use and will walk you through the steps of partitioning your drive and installing other OSes.

i dont care what anyone wants to say but i had an hp with windows previously but then i just got an imac and i love it! its sooooooo much better than windows. it has sooo much storage too. there is DEFINETLY nothing better than mac os x snow leopard. it crushes everyone of its opponents including windows into bits! everyone reading this right now can trust everything i just said!

apple as a whole is a lot better than windows and windows cant compare to the OS macs are running so just get over it people and just another fact WINDOWS tried to copy apple with it's new OS windows 7
3ds3maxmaster 1 year ago
really? is that why since 1986 people would rather use the "Inferior" windows then even look at a mac? people like their options. pc's are easy to repair if a problem occurs, you can get them cheap, and its the same with windows when a problem occurs its easy to fix. also the user interface for windows is far better. mac is for simple people who barely know what keyboard is. now the only thing i can think about that is better on a mac is the lack of virus's that's a godsend for porn fans.
FreonRose 1 year ago
@FreonRose These are mostly opinions. Most people used VHS, which was far inferior to Betamax back in the day. It's about marketing and about what people are used to. If your first introduction to computers is Windows, you don't want to have to get used to a new OS, even if it's a much better one. As for problems, Apple makes the machine, the applications and the OS. With Windows, you're potentially dealing with three different companies all blaming each other for your problems.
oneironaut420 1 year ago
but before you go thinking that's a bias response i can name one os that can stomp both and that would be a linux. its in no way simple infact you'd probably need a college degree in programing but for a person capable that os can do some amazing things
FreonRose 1 year ago
@FreonRose The thing is the average person does not want to get a degree in programming just to be able to use their home computer. They want to actually, you know, USE their computers to get on with their lives and do things. Not saying there's anything wrong with being a tech head, but I want to create music, edit video, and have a seamless computing experience for every day things. I shouldn't HAVE to get a programming degree to do that.
oneironaut420 1 year ago
theres no way windows is better than snow leopord, and windows is not easy to use compared to anything on a mac, people just think there complicated beacause there expensive

agree
TrinitronRock 2 years ago 3
@quest8899 sure they are easy to use but windows doesn't believe in doing what is right for the customer if I made windows I would make security a high priority like a built in protection not all this Norton stuff. Mac saves you money after the initial blow.

@SuperDbzmaster how? its hard any help advice?
YoungFl0 1 year ago
@YoungFl0 ok, go to the piratebay(.)org, look up 'LEO4ALL" or "IAKtOS" download that and burn it to a DVD-R or DVD+R. pop in the dvd, and boot from it by changing your bios to load the cd before the hard drive (if u dont know how to do, check on youtube, if you dont find the answers, pm me).... after that, it should say, "press any key to boot from _________________"
CLICK F8
TYPE IN -v and press enter.
SuperDbzmaster 1 year ago
@SuperDbzmaster is that even safe?
YoungFl0 1 year ago
@YoungFl0 It's safe for your Mac. If something goes wrong with your Windows partition, it won't affect OS X. You'll need to treat your Windows partition exactly as if it were its own PC, meaning you'll need to get anti-virus software and everything. However, any viruses you get on the Windows side will not affect OS X.
oneironaut420 1 year ago
@oneironaut420 ok thank you. I already did all that but i was using leo4all and when i started to boot it up and stuff it was ok for a while and came out with errors, still waiting for root. The problem before was that it could not recognize fireware security, so im going to try iaktos.
YoungFl0 1 year ago
@YoungFl0 sort of, you need to have some tech expirience to know what all the codes mean...
SuperDbzmaster 1 year ago
@SuperDbzmaster will I just have windows installed or both installed?
YoungFl0 1 year ago
@YoungFl0 youll need to make a partition
SuperDbzmaster 1 year ago
@YoungFl0
load up the cd, select your language, go to the finder bar an go to utilities->disk utilities, partition your drive into how many you want to have, make sure the one you are going to install leopard on is a jurnal (or something lika that) partition.
exit, keep on going until you see a button called customize on the bottom left corner. then, click the button and make sure you have the correct drivers for your computer selected. click done, and install..,
SuperDbzmaster 1 year ago
@YoungFl0 when done, restart your computer and congrats, you have mac on pc!
*forgot to say that when you partition, click options and select GUID partition, ok? ok!
