Great videos with good ideas. I'll suggest you to learn how to make a bowline knot. The bowline is an exceptionally versatile knot. It is quick to tie (once you practice), it doesn't slip and it doesn't jam. Also, a stopper knot, wich is easy to do and undo when necessary.
Try a salvage shop that speciallizes in home supplies. They were common years ago, and when older homes have windows replaced they are usually just thrown out now.
It's a float, in case you need to quickly release your anchor line in order to maintain stability of the kayak, or to fight a fish. You then can paddle back and get the anchor afterwards.

hello how much line do you put on your anchor
thanks
baseballer300 3 years ago
enough
dvanbramer88 3 years ago
It should be at least twice the depth of the water. It would mainly depend on how much current there is.

hey, is an 8 pund mushroom anchor to heavy for a sit on kayak?
fishingaddict0812 3 years ago
That will work, but may be more than is necessary. A lot would depend on how swiftly the water is moving where you are anchoring.

i heard you could use one of those retractable dog leashes for keeping your anchor line neat, do you think that line is strong enough?

a lead "cod weight" works excellent in a kayak... i use a 3 lb size...in a 15ft prowler.. works nice... sometimes a 5 lb when winds stronger...
