Reading the book now and there is some great information here. In the weight gain section he has borrowed heavily from Arthur Jones, Mike Mentzer, Doug McGuff and most likely Drew Baye. The only thing that seemed out of place was his irrational belief in high volume kettlebell swings.
@mikehill01 Well, I'm using the book and the diet within... and I've lost 10+ pounds in just over a week. I am simply working out and following the diet plan (strict high protein diet... no dairy, no grain, no fruit... for 6 days a week... as much as you want, calories don't matter... and, on the 7th day, you eat anything and everything you want....) I don't look roided out but, I am naturally a big guy and I'm loving the results so far. I feel great!
@SciPoly Don't jump to conclusions, yes he had some muscle memory cause he was big some years ago (easier to gain muscle again). .But he just ate a crapload all natural =) He's a good guy give him a chance!
Well..... I don't know bout Y'all critics. But at least the "slow carb diet" works. (and if you read all of his book you'll know that he's able to precisely counter the bad effects of what you consider "bingeing") Scientific or not, his idea or not, this book is rapidly giving me the body I want. I lie not.
As a Nutritionist for over 16 years, I agree with having people start on a healthy diet before adding in the exercise as it can make people feel like they deserve or need to eat more since they are now moving more. I also believe in small steps and 1 change at a time for helping people change successfully. But I don't think "binging" is good in any form as it stresses your system and can be an emotional trigger or habit for many people. Eat moderately and give your body what it needs daily.
@JuliKeeneCN Sorry but even as a nutritionist you have it wrong. The reason why Tim and other diets like Body for Life recommend a "free day" because it allows you to feed your demons. What happens when nutritionists recommend eating healthy everyday is that people snap and end up binging and then feel guilty and stop eating healthy the 6 other days and just give up.
@asianimpuls As a Nutritionist , I enc ouragemy clients eat moderate amounts of what ever they call "treat" foods each day as long as they eat the right amounts of real food and hopefully they are enjoying the everyday diet so much that they don't need a binge day. A binge day ruins the biochemical balance in the body temporarily and is an excuse to eat in an unhealthy way. It also stresses the pancreas, gallbladder, liver, digestive system. with a healthy body, cravings for junk food go away.
Good interivew of Tim Ferris. Thanks for uploading it it 'techcrunch'.

Try a new way to get things done:
1. Make a list of things to do to get there
2. Decide how you can achieve them:
(a) collaborate with friends
(b) barter tasks with someone who can help
(c) challenge someone to get there first
3. Get things done & track success.

I love it how people formulate reactions based on little knowledge. Buy the book, try it out.
For me personally, it has helped me to:
Lose 12 pounds
Sleep better at night
Finally enjoy swimming, and learn how to swim well & effortlessly
What will you get from the book?
Or will you simply doubt, and criticize?

All nutritionists should be shot. Ley persons shamelessly parading as experts.
