lunovintoys the deference is maya for professionals it's more difficult to learn. I think U can not do it with max. but U can do many wonderful things with max. Max is like click click click done. Maya is calculate, swim in shit, hit your head with iron stick,

There is a legal way to get the full version (not the trial).

Go to autodesk's website, look for whichever version of maya you'd like (I suggest 2011) and download the student version. The only difference between that and the full version is that when you save your file it lets you know that this file was created with a student version.

so guys, just saying..you can go to their site and get this software for free if you just apply to the community as a student or teacher..i got it a few hours ago and i'm actually planning on modeling 3D CGI versions of pokemon and i'm going to make my own mini series with realistic battling instead of the anime shit that comes on in tv.

@Skulltastik no im not just saying it. you can actually just get the software and follow the tutorials that Autodesk puts here on youtube to get a good idea on how to run the program. Besides that you can also take classes in college. and i have nothing against anime, i love it; but pokemon over the years in gaming has still been the same. why not make something different, more 3 dimensional and realistic?

@sticknumber Great to hear you are motivated! :) I support you, don't be scared of the look of it, 3D design is amazing! Just watch tutorials get experience, work work work experiment and it all comes so naturally and you actually start wanting to know more and more :) At least that's how it was for me...

Now there are always some big headaches here and there, but most of them are because of bugs and incompleteness of Maya features which hopefully Autodesk will finish/fix someday :D

I downloaded a trial of Maya 2011 32-Bit for Windows but everytime I try to open the program it says: Application Failed to Innitialize Properly (0xc0000005) I want to purchase Maya but if I can't even open a trial how can I trust buying an expensive animating program! Please Help. :(
