I will only vote for the candidate I feel most likely to win who supports libertarian ideals, else I vote libertarian!
There is a growing younger generation concerned with overspending and government stepping on our own personal rights and freedoms. GO LIBERTARIANS FIGHT STRONG! woo hoo libertarian party!
This man needs to reintroduce himself to the people. Go out there and campaign, campaign big time. What the libertarian party needs, is someone that can attract the big crowds.
finally a man with some common sense! when government is involved, things get f'ed up. i mean look at welfare. that didn't help anyone, just encouraged people to become dependent on the system. look at utilities regulated by the government. where has that gone? i could go one and one. bob barr is a smart mann who can see through the bull shizz.
Under universal health care, we all get to go to emergency and wait 4 or 5 hours or go to a pharmacy to get some "medicine" and wait 2 hours. You best have your own, private, insurance if you want to see a doctor in a timely manner or get a specialist before you die.
You won't be treated as if you are a congressman. That's for sure.
Universal health care is nothing more than another con the Commmunists in our government are trying to pull on the citizens of the US.
Okay, I work in Healthcare, specifically in Long Term Care and Rehab. Insurance companies are forcing us to discharge patients before they're ready because they deem their benefits have run out ("Last Cover Day"). These are mostly elderly duped into signing their Medicare benefits over to an HMO. If they'd just disenroll from the HMO coverage they'd have the 100 days Medicare allows for their benefit and they'd have a greater chance of discharging home ABLE to be there. Less regs needed!
We need to get the insurance companies out of health care delivery. We spend one trillion on health care yearly of which 300 billion goes for insurance company overhead, a complete waste. About 18,000 people die due to lack of health care every year. Big money and greed must not dictate our health care. We have the most expensive system the world and ranked near the bottom in terms of quality. Barr only promises to continue to tinker around the edges. We need single payer national health care.
so wut ur saying is...healthcare is bad. we need it!!! ppl die and its mostly not their fault!!!! well we shouldnt give it to illegals, only citizens and its mostly not their fault so to prove u wrong...im with healtchcare
no shit universal healthcare would include government regulation. if the government provides something they regulate it. They are expected to regulate it.
Bob Barr thinks that perverted sickos who make "crush videos" that show pets being tortured to death should be legal. That's one of the reasons why he lost his next election.
SHAME on the Libertarian Party for embracing such a depraved little worm!
Barr: If we cut government spending then America could have a national health-care system but, socialists in America do not understand this: of course history has shown when government takes over something like health-care they run it into the ground, waste money and provide horrible service.
I am so glad that you are taking the time to put out these videos. It shows that you truly care about getting the libertarian message out to the folks. I've finally made the switch from the GOP to the LP. I think you can win!
I do not trust you Mr. Barr if you were part of the C.I.A. and have a CRAPY voting record then no one should trust you! We needed MARY RUWART or RON PAUL! I hope that you don't run next year and I pray that you are not the next president!
i like where he's going with this, but with this forum he needs specific examples as to how these regulations have caused the increases. there are no commercials, no producers........i think mr. barr needs to really expand on this if he's going to make a change. gonna take more than 2 min for the rest of the country to understand.
National healthcare is just one step closer to Socialism. For taxpayers there's no such thing as free healthcare. I don't want to pay over 50% of my paycheck in taxes so illegal aliens can get free healthcare. Ask an Iraqi war vet how he/she feels about government run healthcare. Belive Ron Paul when he says "Americas healthcare system was the envey of the world before government intervention."
Relying on the market alone leads to market failures in some areas and externalities. It's well-known by economists. The market will never expand the pie large enough to include everyone. So government sometimes has to step in to expand the pie even further.
Why do other nations have NHC?? Because health care naturally is an expensive industry! Before NHC in Europe, I highly doubt 90% or 99% of people could afford it. What about a patients' bill of rights? Is that "wrong"?
While it may be true that SOME government regulation of healthcare in this country has contributed to higher prices, the fact is, if you take away ALL the regulations, there is no proof that everyone will finally be able to afford healthcare. The only true solution is national health insurance. Of course, this has problems, but hypothetically speaking, it would be the only one where everyone would be covered. Even if mccain's plan does expand coverage, there will still be a lot uncovered.
There's no such thing as a free lunch. There have always been people without healthcare but at the same time I've never heard of someone being turned away. They already take over 25% of my check in taxes. If they have their way it'll be over 50%. Most Americans will pay a percentage that's a couple hundred times their own healthcare needs. If someone doesn't have healthcare it's not my fault, it's not your fault, it's not the governments fault. Socialism is bad.Freedom is good.
There is no such thing as a free lunch, which is why taxes are a good way to ensure even the unfortunate don't have to die from diseases that could easily be cured.
In my opinion, the best and most humane way to run a society is to collect taxes for a few very very necessary services, such as police, military, courts, fire departments and healthcare.
So I'm strongly in favor of a mixed economy where the majority of services are private but a few essential ones are not.
I've got no problem with paying taxes. I do however have a problem with paying 25% of my check just to see the government blow it on some program designed to win an election without considering the long term consequences. We're dumping record amounts of money into the government & we go another 1.84 billion dollars in debt every day. Our slow decline into socialism is not only unconstitutional, unethical, & immoral, It's also unaffordable. We never even paid for WWII.
No, the government is supposed to control money. We need to get rid of the current privatized monetary system & return to a government controlled gold standard. Perhaps we could even pay for WWII. I'd also like to point out that American healthcare was the envy of the world until the government got involved.
Since Ron Paul ran as a Republican, he can't run with Barr on the LP (or other party) ticket. I think it was a good idea for Dr Paul to run on the GOP ticket because it brought the conservo-libertarian message into the mainstream and now Bob Barr can run with it.
I am not calling it whatever I want. I am calling it what it is. It has worked in France, where all citizens already have health insurance to offset some of the cost, and they are still taxed at a rate of 60%. If you don't mind the government taking 60% of your earned money to pay for losers who refuse to work, then it sounds like a great idea. And don't make the assumption that I believe all tax funded services are Marxist. Read the Communist Manifesto and then you will understand.
I'm not sure it is the majority.. but even so, there are still tons of people who actually really need help, by no fault of their own.
Many people do get sick, even if they live healthy lives - and many of these will not be able to afford treatment, or even if they have insurance, they might very well still be denied coverage. I feel a system of universal health care would be a great system, if implemented correctly. Obviously, you could not switch to it overnight, though.
However, I would be all for stricter rules in order to try to stop people from collecting money when they don't need it. I hate people like that as much as anyone else, they make it so much harder for the people who really do need help.
I will agree to disagree with you on this one. Socialist policies sound enticing, but can lead to dangerous practices and heavy taxing. I agree that something needs to be done about healthcare. I just think that the answer is less government regulation, allowing Adam Smith's "invisible hand" to spark competition in the insurance market, resulting in more affordable healthcare.
Mike Gravel thinks he's a libertarian now...You cannot go from liberal democrat to libertarian. He is a socialist pussy. Let's think more Wayne Allen Root or Bob Barr for President. But at least your thinking libertarian.
Barr is 100% right. A free market solution would work, just look at how expensive lasik eye surgery was and how cheap it is now. UHC is a load of BS, its just the Dems trying to buy votes and sell more gov't.
Less government in health care? sweet lol?

I agree that the government does spend far too much money on useless programs, like the extreme amount of money they spend on this war.
I agree most services should be privatized - I'm not in favor of a huge government.
However, there are a few services I think should be socialized, such as the ones I mentioned (and that includes health care).
There could still be private actors here as well, though.
laffer35 3 years ago
I disagree with any form of socialism. We need to fight it everywhere we find it.

Universal Healthcare is a Marxist ideology. The Democrats of today have left their party behind.

You can call it whatever you want, if it works well, why not implement it? It does work well in many countries.
You have marxist police, right? If every tax funded service is marxist, I mean.

I am not calling it whatever I want. I am calling it what it is. So in other words - ONLY lazy losers too lazy to work can end up in a position where they would need government help?

Not in every case, but definitely the majority. Oh yeah, and illegal immigrants that don't pay taxes, but soak up tax benefits.
