  • Somehow they got to southern California and played somebody's backyard in the Spring of 1986, what a fluke! I worked at Chrysalis Records and they had the license to this record, I grabbed 8 copies as part of my internship. I gave all but two of them away, damn! TIMELESS MUSIC.

  • I totally agree with all the praise for this album. Loved it then and still listen to regularly now. Glad the CD finally came out when they got a bit of success in the States. I treasured my vinyl copy so much that I bought a second one which I have still never played. No, it's not for sale! it's probably covered in mould as it's been in my parent's basement for the last 15 years. I saw them on the "waking hours" tour and Justin teasingly played the opening bass line from sticks and stones.

  • Their best album..I was 17 and had the vinyl..I lost it and would like to find it !

  • 26 years and I still can't work out my favourite track from this album. This is a strong contender, though Keepers may just squeak it past a host of others.

I've often wondered what they may have achieved without the AOR turn in their career.

The comment about this being "derivative" and then "finding their own sound" is a joke right?

  • This is my favorite song of all time.

  • Justin and Iain look so cute in this photos. I've not seen a couple of them before. Excellent stuff - though not my favourite Dels era, but it's great to see where they came from and how they evolved.

  • this album is so derivative of the music at the time. bless em. glad they found their own sound. LOVE the dels/Justin sound. X

  • @SoMuchGlitter

Derivative? Of what? I mean, sure - it has elements in common with a lot of their contemporaries. But the first album has a far more singular sound than anything they've released since. And, frankly, better songwriting.

  • @ursaminorjim Agreed!

  • Yeah this was a brilliant album fantastic songs although ironically im not so keen on the 2 singles, it's shame they have shunned this album

  • This was their best album, in my opinion. After that it was all crap: bit like the Eagles! but apparently they want notheing to do with this stuff.

  • Amazing record. Dwarfs anything they did afterward. Wish somebody would post the whole disc.

  • @poolsidenyc ....yep - their debut album was brilliant- do u think mumford & sons sounds abit like del amitri ?

  • @rebjiii no

  • My favorite song OF ALL TIME.

  • Now add 'Crows in the Wheat field' and 'Keepers'...I always thought that was some sort of mini-opera when those three songs were played back to back...LOL! Thanks for posting!

  • Awesome...It's nice to know someone else digs this. These guys should have been massive. It's my understanding that Justin has disavowed himself of this album. Any truth to that and if so, why? As brilliant a debut as it gets, IMO...

  • this is a trip. he sounds prepubescent. what a hoot.

  • Muy bueno!
