  • I usually run mine across a bay on the lake where there is no current.

  • do you run your bait with the current or straight across? I might have to try this with salmon lol.....

  • I just bought my first trotline and i only have one clip. what do I do?

  • @rkb38313 u go buy more clips

  • I love the clips Hal, keep them coming. You have made my Jugs a whole lot easier.

  • how do i get one for my granps

  • @BackwoodsLungBuster

My trotlines come with 4/0 eagle claw trotline hooks, The droplines are 24 inches.

  • Camping at the Bull Shoals-White River State Park next month. I know the lake level is up over 30 feet, got any recommendations on where to run lines within 8-10 miles of the dam? Thanks

  • @rrtii

The State Park is currently closed to all camping. We live close by in Lakeview. Walter may go down by next month but be sure to call to see if the park is open. As far as trotlines I am catching them in shallow waters. Running my trotlines close to the banks. Give me a hollar when you get here and may visit you. Park is about 1 mile from me. I'll show you the trotlines I manufacturer.

    Hal...

  • how do u get on of those

!!!!!!cause i need one for my granpa

  • This comes to show how much of an amateur I am at fishing... he said that first fish he pulled out was "a little on the small side". That's what I call a big one when I go fishing :(

  • okay anyone from ga ?

i am going to lake oconee this weekend and i am gonna set out lines.. what should be best bait for big cats .

    chicken liver ,brim what ?

  • dude put a little pep in ur voice !

  • I wish I had been born in the south

  • @ThePirateJon Same here Damn Do i wish i was born in the south.. Out here in Cali i just cant do as much.. hunting is strict oh well sooner or later ill b out there lol..

  • That was a good video, but I was looking for how to set out a trot line, not how to harvest fish from one.

  • okay i tie the trout line to a tree stump... then set hooks down it well do i tie like briks in the middle and some on the end ?

  • do you ever snag anythinhg else wun you run your trot line...bass blue gill? I know bass dont bite dough baits but im just curious.

  • Love the video might pick one of those up if i see one and try it out.

  • you kept that small ass fish? you hurtin for money bitch

  • @alankills those are good eatin and the best

  • we can skin a buck, run a trotline and a country boy can survive...

  • all day long i can catch catfish from dusk till dawn...

  • can u trot line salt water and how do u do it didnt make sense lol

  • I didnt think you were allowed to use game fish (bream) as bait...

  • @mbranum17 as long as its caught on a hook you can.

  • Flatheads, Blues, and Channels will all eat the same thing. Flatheads and Blues are more prone to eat live baits but will strike on dead and dough baits, if they are hungry enough. Channels eat mostly dead bait and bugs that can't swim but if they are hungry enough they will hunt for small fish. I've caught a couple of channels off of a spinner bait one day when i was bass fishing. Really blew my mind.

  • why don't you have the hooks pre baited before putting them on the line, I think that would be a lot easier and quicker.

  • i actually met a guy that uses trot lines to catch muskie, carp, and freshwater drum.

pretty unusual i know but i saw it up close and it works.

  • just out of curiosity what brand of doughbait were u using and where did u get it???

  • we always had really good luck straight across the lake from the sister creek boat dock...

  • Is there a way where you can set out a trout line where others cant find it? A heavy weight on one end a float that dont go all the way to the water surface but keeps line where you can retrive a snag line to pull the line to surface to run it.? Drag an anchor across the bottom first so see if there any hangs if all clear drop your line across the way.

  • Nice video and Nice Product! where can you buy EZclip trotline at??

  • i caught a 40 lb flathead witha trot line once

  • cool!

  • Speaking of geting "finned", the catfish barbs are loaded with slimy bacteria absorbed from the river. Nothing hurts quite like a deep fin in the knuckle or palm. Trust me on this one. The best pain reliever is found on the catfish. Just behind the dorsal fin you will find a much smaller rounded fin. Cut this fin off at the base and rub the opened part of the fin on the wound. Instant and lasting relief. Have use this many times.

  • Continuing: Trot line fishing is a dangerous occupation in that if a hook snaps your clothes you are gonna take a dive. Hopefully you can pull your opened knife out of your pocket and cut the line away! Those lines can get become extremely tight when the current is fast, so it behooves you to work the line barefoot, lifepreserver and knife. We did it for many years and never had one single accident other then an occasional hook in the finger or a fin from the catfish.

  • Trot line baits are varied. I used to use live minnows, probably the best, but slow,;catalpa worms when available, also very good, and a faster bait; cut shad, stink baits, chicken livers in a piece of wadded up women's hose, and believe it or not....IVORY SOAP! Yep, tried it once and caught exactly one catfish. Jug fishing is also very exciting. Drop lines can be used also. We always used 50 hooks and ran the line slightly upstream before dropping, current would pull it straight.

  • how do they trot lines no get chopped up by boat propellers?

  • I tie rocks on each end and one in the middle to keep line down so boats won't hit it.

  • ok thanks

  • oh yea and cutt drum works best for me

  • there legal in arkansas but if u put a loop at thr end of your hook line attach ur swivel under ur loop u can just run you hook throgh the loop around ur trootline and it saves alot of time also if u look for the deepist whole u can find thats in a current and run you line cross ways ull get mor and bigger fish also u need more weight

  • use cat fish dinomite stink bait i put out a trot line and and each hook had a cat fish on

  • Trot lines are !! NOT Illegal here in NC !! thank you very much.

  • As per the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, "Trotlines, set-hooks and jug-hooks may be fished under any

license that authorizes basic fishing privileges."

  • sweet!

  • great video 5*

  • the best trotline bait is fresh shad

  • They are illegal in Minnesota

  • are trot lines illegal? if so, where?

  • i fixed up somthing like this yesterday

i checks it this morning and almost had a gar

  • anole like the lizard?

  • yes -.-

  • were can i buy this

  • I love to use dough bait like Magic Bait King Kat Chicken blood and Nightcrawlers.I use minnows some,i caught a channel cat on King Kat

  • the best is secret-7 catfish dip bait

  • it is not true that flatheads will not bite on dead bate. I caught a 24 incher on blood bait alone in Medina Lake, Tx

  • brim? is that nother name for blue gill?

  • Yes that is correct. That's what they call them here in Arkansas.

  • and georgia

  • boy i love spear fishing in bull shoals theres some big ones in there

  • And NC.

  • and SC

  • @HID3ANS33K I also live in Arkansas and i'm still confused as to what a bream is.I just call them perch, wether they are blue gills, red ears, or sunfish, they all make great bait.

  • checken liver!!

    i cought a turtle

3 cat fish in 30 minutes today with it

  • how big are those lines and how big of a fish have u caught on that line??

  • I love your product. How could I purchase one?

  • nice 5/5- were do they sell them

  • It's TROT line NOT troutline, you keep saying troutline. It's called trotline cause

the hook's trot along the bottom.

  • well i dont agree with you on the fact that flathead only bite live bait iv caught 30+ pounders on cheesebait and doughballs. They prefer live bait but will eat other

  • Im from Lakeview, Ive ran lots of lines on that lake. I have also caught lots of flatheads on dead bluegill. They will bite fresh cut bait.

  • If it's a trout line, where's the trout?

Aged chicken livers, hot dogs and a guy named Shad? What's going on? I don't get it!

  • It's called a trotline not trout line. We use it for catching catfish. Shad, hot dogs and chicken livers work real good for catching catfish.

  • Can we please see the rod and reel used to throw out the trotline? And why can't you throw it out with all the hooks already attached? Aren't hotdogs on the end of a hook dangerous to children?

  • @ezcliptrotline out of curiosity what dough bait were u using and where did u get it???

  • trot line. a fish called a shad. 2 day old chicken liver. have you ever set lines before?

  • @ikernstein retard alert

  • @ikernstein Shads a kind of fish

  • Age turkey liver or chicken liver in the sun for 2 or 3 days works great in Ks.

  • Hot dogs. Nuff said.

  • chicken liver is good...

but there is nothing like SHAD.....

  • shad smells like none other!!!

  • it does the job...

  • Chicken liver is the best for blue in Louisiana i caught a 5 pounder today off of it

  • nice video showed good steps to running an setting lines an to the dude who said they catch lots of flats on liver i say bullsh1t maybe one here an there but not on a constat basis

  • its posible the limit here for flat head is five and they average 40lbs

  • ya troy lines are the way to go and that guy below me that says he catches 200 pounds of fish is full of shit

  • Watch my video idiot I can easily catch 200 lbs of catfish I do it on a regular basis. If the season is right, you can have more fish than you know what to do with, of course, you have to know WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

IE where to place them, how deep, what bait,so on and so forth, just because you don't know how doesn't mean there are other people don't.

  • yuh i seen your vids. you prolly do catch dat much regularly.

  • nice video the tard below me is trying to brag but hes full of it hes probly catchin channels

  • flat heads will bit chicken livers thats all we run and always come home with atleast 100 to 200 lbs of fish

  • @nbydog07 we also use Ivory soap when the water is high and muddy channels blues and flatheads will hit it

  • i love trotlines!

  • Thank you very much for making this sir, it seems as though it would be very easy and time efficient.

  • cool idea how do u get some.

  • nice video trotline fishing is the most fun fishing i've ever done. those clips look awfully strong too. :)

  • Nice clips and fish they work good i have use them be for

  • when can i expect to see another video
