  • crap sound! what am I gonna do!

  • what are the settings for this awsome tone

  • 2 o'clock bass. noon mid. 11 o 'clock treble. no presence. sorry i am so drunk... peace

  • mid is at noon

  • great jamming

  • wow that sounds rockin

  • i have heard some low wattage amps that have awesome saturation. Those 30 watt orange combo's sound nice. I must say some line 6 stuff sound really nice for the price. I forgot to include that i power my mesa thru a marshall pre amp

  • i been playing for years thru mesa dual rec with el 34's. I replace the factory 6l6. EL 34 give me a better mid range than 6l6's. Run that tru a carvin cab. Great tone for metal and blues. Use some effects

  • I used to own a single recto and like the 6L6 much more than EL34s. Tried both. I ended up selling it when i started getting into low wattage amps that I can get a good power section saturation out of.

  • Marshall has the balls to charge that much for a reissued amp head. Most of today's Marshalls are made in korea I believe. They even outsourced their production line. BEst bet is to build your own head.

  • true, I don't like the modern marshalls. the DSL sounds very good through a mesa 212 though. Right now (besides my 800) I use an orange ad30 and rocker 30. They do a great job of sounding like hot rodded ac30s and 800s.

  • hey man. good tone. could i get a early metallica tone or iron maiden tone on an 800? thanks and KEEP ON ROCKING!

  • JMP-1

  • hi, i have a 2205 too.

do you think you could tell me what settings you were using here?

also, what year is your amp?

    Thanks!

  • it is an '86. presence 8 o'clock, bass 2 o'clock, mid noon, treble 11 o'clock, gain 3 o'clock.

  • wow, those are pretty much the same settings i have on mine.

    Mine's an '85 though.

  • Its funny because I love my dual rec mesa run thru my vintage 30 bab

  • just something about the gain channel on dsl disturb my ears. The clean tone are not too bad. Single coil pickups sound nice on that dsl 100. Old school fender amps for blues

  • You have to play the DSL through a vintage 30 cab. The DSL just sounds awful through the G12T-75 cab. Most high gain marshalls sound better running through mesa cabs in my opinion.

  • The 1987 I believe Marshall " Jubilee" 50/100 switchable head was their crowning achievment since the 70's. Todays Marshall all sound like shit. Dsl series was a failure and way too pricey

  • DSLs are the only current marshalls I like. The TSL, Vintage Modern, JVM, 800 reissue, etc are all garbage in my opinion. I have a 30th anniversary 6100 that I really like. My 800 still has my favorite drive tone, but the 6100 is a better live amp since my clean on my 800 is all screwed up.

  • the 800 was the last good amp marshall made.. the vintage modern is OK... but everything pre 900 is where its at with marshall. you know they reissued the 800.. and im not talking about the slash or the kerry king 800. Im talking about the REAL DEAL JCM 800! theyre like $3200 well, the stroe i was at thats what they wanted for theirs..

  • the reissues are $2k for a head and they suck compared to the original 2203's.

  • well, the store i was at likes to gouge people.. so im sure they were asking even above list price for it.. and yeah even tho they may not sound exactly like an original.. they are waaaaay better in my opinion than the KK or the slash reissues..

  • I have a marshall jcm 800 1960 lead cab(slant) how much of a difference is this cab from mine? It has g12 75's not v30's and also 2 more speakers obviously. So like more or less bass punch? I want it for metal and blues. somethign to carry around you knwo without losing tone.

  • I prefer V30 cabs. G12t75s are too scooped for my personal taste. To me g12t75s just make the amp sound less "alive" and cheaper, where v30s bring out the life of a head. A 212 will give you a more focused sound. a 412 has more lowend punch and will fill a room better. I personally prefer playing through a 412, but I don't mind playing through a 212. I do like recording with a 212 better though. You wont lose any tone by switching to v30s or a 212.

  • REVIEW WITH GIBSON LES PAUL PLEASE

  • You want a 800 demo with a Gibson LP?

I'll see what I can do during thanksgiving break.

  • hey what speakers are in the cab...and what guitar are you playing? i pressume the amp is an 85 model?

    nice tone and playing

  • it is an '86 and the cab is loaded with v30s. The guitar is a G&L asat classic. The one in the picture since I dont have a video camera.
