  • OMG! I started this hat and finished it all in one day! LOVE IT!!!

i skipped rows 17-19 but it still turned out cute!. i used one solid color and i love it!

  • Done!

It's Sunday, I live in London and, as you can assume, it's raining.. My kids woke me up at 6:30 AM, and I took advantage and made this hat. Thank you! ;)

Just wish I had your yarns.. I use 3 ply and it's not as pretty as yours.. Do you use acrylic as well? Can't find a proper shops like you fortunate have in the US... :(

    One again, thank you!

    Emma

  • @SEG2107 Glad you got it done! Most of my yarn is acrylic. Some Internet sites with US yarn will ship overseas.

  • @sosweetlittlegirl99 Thank you. :)

  • How many rounds should stay flat before I start making it look like a hat? I can't explain this right , so I hope you know what I mean. I have some camouflage yarn and my son want's a skull cap, but doesn't want large holes or spaces in it. Can I accomplish this without having to knit it? I have NO idea how to knit and I don't wanna learn, lol. Any tips?

  • @LadySakurra The link for the written instructions is posted in the video details below the video. The cap may lay flat for a couple more rounds after the last increase round but then it will gradually start to form sides.

  • awe i was hoping this could show me how to maake the kinda border im looking for but its still a nice vid, i might make this when iim down with the beani iim making

  • What kind of border are you looking for?

  • ha i made 3 of these, one without the popcorn stitches and gave them as gifts and my friends loved them ^_^

  • if i want to make this hat for my 5 year old what i will have to do

  • You will work less increase round for a smaller head. There will be some trial and error.

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • I made this hat, and I like what you say that "a pattern is just a pattern" On row 20 were you decrease my hat was way too small, it fit but after the other rows, it turned out too small. So what I did I did not decrease as much as you did. I modified your pattern. And guess what it came out so perfect! I love the hat and I will be giving it as one as my gifts.

  • Adjusting is something that is alright to do with every pattern. There may be some parts that work and another section that needs some adjustment. Keep that in mind and your pattern will always come out perfect.

  • mine is too small why wat am i doing wrong

  • i finished mine but for some reason its too small it wont even fit my 11 old daughters head can you plz tell me wat im doing wrong

  • It could be the yarn and crochet hook that you are using.

  • if i wanted to do this hat without the popcorn stitch would i just continue with the hdc?

  • Yes, you would replace the popcorn with a HDC.

  • THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I have made mofifications to your summer hat. I added two rows of single crochet and a brim. Its still a bit to hot to wear in the summer, but i love it anyway. Do they make yarn just for summer wear?

  • There is light weight 2 and 3 ply yarn and cotton yarn and thread.

  • I think a fine cotton yarn would do.

  • Thanks for the video.. I've mastered making the beanie hats. But I'm still having problems with the brims. My brims are never even looking, they sometimes curve or ripple, please help me fix this. I have people who love my hats, but I don't like the brims that I make. What should I do?

  • Unless you are using thick yarn and tight stitches, it is difficult to make a real large brim because they do not hold their shape very well. You can purchase brim supports but you would need to crochet on both sides. I have been putting some thought into this and if I come up with a solution, I will share it.

  • THANKS!

  • Great tutorials! I want to make one that would be suitable for someone with dredlocks. how much i go about altering it to make it longer (at what point should i only focus on the length)?

  • Once you get to round 12 you can make the cap deeper.

  • thank you ...i made the slouch hat and it turned out great for a first time all because of your video. how do you tie in loose ends? how to change colors?

    thanks...kathy

  • You cut your previous yarn, pull it through so it is secure. Then you attach the new color by slip stitching and continue with your new round. Some of the older videos were done with time restrictions so I had to sacrifice some parts that I would have liked to keep. I will send you the video to the stripe beanie cap. That is a good example of changing colors. It will be done the same way for this cap.

  • OKay.. and I can find this on your website? Or do you have a video for it?

  • I sent you a separate message for the brim video tutorial.

  • can you send me thatt to??

  • Oh you have one! Everytime I try to search your vids my computer freezes so I never got to look through. Sorry about that! If I follow the instructions for the rim on the beanie cap will it come out the same? Not a full rim, but only a rimin the front...

  • The brim I have is just for the very front of the cap.

  • Thank you so much for your videos and blog. I am just learning how to crochet, and have been able to make a lot of projects you have posted. You are very detailed, and clear, which makes it easy to follow. Thank you so much!

  • You are a crochet Goddess! I only wish to be as good as you someday, I'm just starting my first beanie... How long did it take you to learn all of this?

  • Thank you, I have been crocheting for 25+ years.

  • I've always loved these kind of hats, and I've always wanted to make one so I started to crochet..but then I stopped..and your videos have inspired me to start again..maybe I can start this on a rainy day:]

  • I showed my 16 year old son this and he wants me to make one. Over the weekend I showed my 9 year old how to crochet and used your videos to help him.. he made a cute necklace that consisted of a pouch and he made it into a necklace and he even wore it to school. my boy is now a crocheting nut.. I was so impressed at how he picked it up so quickly. He really wants to make a backpack for school, if you have any videos on those could you please post them.

  • I am so happy to hear that young kids and even men are taking such an interest in crochet.
