This is probably my 6th or 7th time watching this video and it still makes me smile! My favourite part is the tying a tie part. It reminds me of when I started learning how to tie a tie. :P
I absolutely admire your courageousness and self-acceptance. I go to a women's college in New England where there are quite a few trans guys; in fact, my boyfriend is trans. (In case you're wondering how I found out about you, I'm part of the GLSEN mailing list...btw: congratulations on being student advocate of the year)!!! Although I'm a stranger, know that you've got a supporter and friend in me. <3
Thank you so much for posting this video. It really made me realize that no matter who I choose to be, there will always be people who are like me. I know inside, that my gender is male, but I have always felt like I needed to hide that fact because I have been bullied for seven years. Thank you so much for showing me that it is okay to show people who I am, even if they may not like it. I have to live up to my own expectations, not the ones that others have set out for me.
That's how I've been for almost two years now. I've drilled it into people's head. My name is Dante`, not Amanda, my gender is male, not female, and I will be refereed to as such. It took a few months to set in but now I am, and I quote, "The Sassy Gay friend". Which I'm fine with. :) It's pretty awesome seeing others being as open as I try to be.
I found out your story from a GLSEN e-mail, and I just wanted to say your story inspires me, man. I live in a small town in Oklahoma with a population of around 2,500 people in it. So, your story really makes me feel good about being who I am, and not trying to hide it threw some of the most shitty years of life, high school. Thank you.
@DANCELORD99 My gender is male. My sexual orientation (who I'm attracted to) is my own business. Gender and sexual orientation are two totally different things and don't always match up to be the heaterosexual norm. Thank you.
You have my complete support. <3 Congratulations on your new name! Can I still call you Em? I'll add the extra syllable if you'd prefer. Good luck with this transition in your life.
You are an amazing person, Emmett. My respect and love for you grows daily. Your spirit is strong and wise and you epitomize the best a man can be. MJ
Beautiful. I am a friend of Mary Jo's. I opened an LGBTQ youth center here in Bucks Co, PA 9 years ago, and I plan to share your video with the group. It is so filled with your strength, hope, and fierce love. Thank you for sharing it with the world. Go, Emmett!
Love you Emmett! Have patience with us on the pronouns. . . it takes time. You have always had my respect. You are awesome and always have been! Your video is great and Violet is a special friend.
