Government will support the deployment of electric vehicles onto Irish roads with a VRT exemption for the next 3 years. There will also be a grant for half the costs of the batteries for the first 6,000 cars on Irish roads.

Why is it.... That it costs €16,000 for a new electric car from green machines in terenure. Why are electric vehicle not exempt from VRT and a grant/scrappage scheme for these vehicle.

Paying over €8000 for an electric vehicle is ridiculous considering the decrease in parts needed to build it. Electric cars could be built here, never mind brought from abroad.
