What blemishes the reputation of this album i feel is not the quality of much of the material but the unease at which old fashion covers that arent very inspired and also lucklastre sit next to the very progressive and sophisticated original material.Expectations run high also after the dazzling quality of the all original A Hard Days Night album.Some of the covers are great though i.e. Rock and Roll Music and Words of Love

I think the reason the Beatles music is so timeless and will always be enjoyed by every generation is the fact; Beatles changed music, music never changed the Beatles. Music evolved/changed as the Beatles made it. Making it timeless.

this album is is seen as "so-"so" because they only wrote eight of the fourteen songs, the rest being covers; they simply hadn't enough time because of their heavy touring program ! but of course, it's still the Beatles !

Not that I'm listening right now, "in person," but I disagree with Zickcermacity that it is  "compression" that causes "digital clipping," although the misuse or abuse of it certainly could. For that matter, thanks to Zickcermacity for the positive comments about George Martin, who's really gotten some bad press for being The "lads" best and most creative producer for years and years.

If it sounds good on YouTube imagine how good it must sound in person on a CD deck.

My only concern - they'd BETTER NOT have used any compression during these remasters! Louder does not meand "remastered". They did that with the Who remasters of this decade and here is digital clipping from time to time on some of those tracks.

One can only hope the dynamic duo of Martin-Emerick were dictating things during the Beatle remasters. Those two wouldn't sit still for any bulls#it! :)
