Dinnerstein offers a version of The Goldberg Variations that is far more traditionally played than Gould's versions. I feel her interpretations have an enormous amount of structural integrity and show a great academic grasp of the work. I find her tempo to be generally very slow and her voicing/dynamics to be suspect at times. I am a Gould fan and always will prefer Goulds work. Nonetheless, Dinnerstein offers a recording that reaffirms the structure of the piece if that is what you are after.

This piece is very difficult piece to play. Takes years of practice but I must say I like Simone's version than I do Gould's version

@creolelady182 gould's 1955 recording had greater clarity than his 1983 one. the only other great recordings beside gould's 1955 is perahia's, perhaps tureck's and hewitt's as 3rd and 4th alternatives. others in my opinion have too much coloring, they played as if goldberg's were rococo equivalent, or worst, in romantic style
