Gehenna was an actual place above ground a valley in Jerusalm, where garbage was thrown and the bodies of dead animal and criminals, as well as a place that people with leperoucy was put away.Jesus understood that murderers and people that had dispicable sins ended up in Gehenna and it would be better to lose an arm than end up there, why, because if you lose an arm or an eye your still alive and not dead.and dead men cant serve God.Dont make yourself an outcast or you cant serve god and so on.
So god is going to torture for a long period of time and then when he is satisfied he will do away with them forever? I must ask why does god punish, why did he punish Israel, was it not the get them to repent and turn from thier evil ways?and once they did he forgave them.The only way punishment could bring god pleasure is that it would bring about repentance, otherwise its would be futile.Its myview that Christians are going through this firey baptism now, purging of evil.eventually all do.

These particular views depend on one thing only. Do we HAVE souls, or ARE we souls. If we HAVE souls then I suggest we can ONLY SPECULATE as to where it goes after death; "Name your poison", so to speak. BUT, if we ARE souls, as Genesis 2:7 clearly states, then when WE die, WE go to the GRAVE, and if a BELIEVER in Christ, RESURRECTED immortal unto glory. The unbeliever remains DEAD forever, in the GRAVE. Gehenna is clearly a future judgment of living individuals during Christ's reign on earth.

Hell is eternal seperation from God. That is why it is hell. You are being seperated from all of God's attributes for all of eternity. It isn't simply God "putting someone in a torture chamber".
The main point of everything is "Do you want to have a relationship with God or not?"
Heaven will be a place where everything is dedicated to having a relationship with God.
Heaven isn't just a place with nice weather, nice couches, good food.

How do you explain the word aion? The fact that aion means age? What about the word kolasis which was translated into punishment for Matthew 25:46? Kolasis is chastisement, also derived from a word meaning to lop or prune like you would to a tree to bear more fruit. The word aion is used both in regards to "punishment" and to life in that same sentence.

Hell is eternal seperation from God. That is why it is hell. You are being seperated from all of God's attributes for all of eternity. It isn't simply God "putting someone in a torture chamber".
