I have one of these and want to unleash the power of this beast. Anybody knows if it would work with a behringer bcr 2000 (rotary controller)? I don't know much about SYSEX. Any leads or help are appreciated it. : )
sounds nice analog but the only thing that i consider disturbing on Xpander is the "crackly" knobs.. i once had an opportunity to see & play the Xpander and i noticed that it´ s quite hard to make accurate settings with those kind of knobs; still this machine is capable in huge variety of analog sounds :) i have an obsx btw.. wish to have an ob8 or obxa
I really curios to see the incredible filter mode of this machine, maybe the most flexibile non modular synth ever built. the system built around CEM3372 filter is incredibly powerful (in terms of flexibility)
thats funny, ive owned a pair of xpanders for over 15 years and have used them heavily in my studio in the same way. guess what? i never had a problem with the encoders on my machines. weve had other xpanders in and the encoders were bad (right away) so we replaced them.
Do you guys ever run across any Peavey DPM Sp sample players? I found a Peavey DPM SX on Ebay...Brand new 0 hours $15 bucks..Now I just need the SP or a machine that supports SDS or SMDI...Any suggestions or might you have any?
THERE are some epics 80's sounds right there. you are a lucky man, i WANT one of these SSOOO bad.
question, this is basically the upper half of a matrix 12, correct? so, it's like a midi controller-type-thing? you could hook up any midi keyboard to thins this and play matrix 12-type sound through the expander to an amp?
we sell these all the time :) this is essentially the same synth as the matrix12 only it has 1/2 the polyphony and modulation slots. it can be controlled by a midi keyboard or sequencer. check out our website for more info on this model.
listen i have a problem and i can't figure it out....in the background in some patches i always have this eternal sound going on and i can't take it out.even with the env (release, sustain) of vco1 and vco2...need help
I wouldn't even call that rough handling tbh since I've done worse with mine and it takes it in its stride.
To do anything quickly on those endless rotaries you have to twiddle them manically and the buttons are solid. This is an instrument and its meant to be played not handled with kid gloves.
I can't think of a worse fate for an instrument of this of quality than to sit underneath a dust cover in the possession of someone who is afraid to breath on it in case they fog up the screen.
Great sound on these beasts...nothing quite like the sound of analog... Great little beast you are controlling it with ...I have an Oxygen 8 too... I actually find it comical the way you are turning the dials..I am easily amused :)
Have to agree awesome fat customizable vintage sound man. Doesn't get much better than that. Glad to hear you turned down guaranteed sales to people that were going to thrash them.
The way he's spinning those knobs I don't think the gloves help protect it. Maybe he's really an alien and he likes to hide his green flesh with the gloves. Our earth women would be hooked on him and humanity would slowly fade away. Curse you white glove wearing green alien gigolo, but that's some flippin sweet music!
It's ok, there's more lifeforms in a distant galaxy... You've made a wise decision. Your brother's chose to abduct humans and probe them, but you chose to abduct synths and program them. Keep protecting yourself from Earth Germs and Rock On!
Blah, you just haven't found the right woman yet!!! I'm female and have a reasonable collection of vintage Roland synths :-)
You can see them in my clips here. BTW - I wish we were closer in location. Those are some WAY cool toys you have!! I'd be spending plenty of money with you guys ;-)
people will always be looking to complain about SOMETHING. eg: "@#$%ing minimoog!!!!! why couldnt they give it 88 weighted keys and a piano sound!??!?! bitch moan bitch moan". the xpander envelopes are fine with me. theyre LFO gate-able or can be set to free run and the stages are controllable by modulation sources. so, maybe theyre not as snappy as certain other synths, but show me those features on those synths! :)
rumor has it that this synth produced the bassline to the world famous TECHNOTRONIC - PUMP UP THE JAM... is this true?

Hey kiddo, don't drink so much coffee. Take it easy on the knobs, take ur time and listen and njoy this wonderful synth.
Rubber gloves wont do u any good if u keep mistreating the buttons and knobs like that.
This is one of the most precious, "still-expensive" and best synth's ever built.
Go easy on it, and really "taste" every sound you make with it.
I have one myself so I know how darn good it is:)

Unfortunately, the women I've encountered on your planet don't get hooked on synth programming chops. Only other male synth geeks do. ;(
