i think its actually a motion sensor. not a camera. in another video, the guy crouches in front of it but the alarm didnt go off. if its a camera, it will go off as long as if u r in the range of sight, however, the motion sensor will not go off whether u r in the path of the laser or not as long as u dont move.

I normally use it to get behind the turret, blow it up with a frag grenade, then go back to the security room for the experience book and viruses.
