FOREVER I wish that the morning sun would greet me not. I wish that the moonlight would my eyes shut. Forever... Since you went, leaving the earth away, Alone, here, I remain. Put the sun down! Cast away the stars! Steer north to south, for all I care ... All these are of no use anymore. Just take this smashed soul, I don't want it anymore. Just cut off earth's umbilical cord. I want to flee to eternity, forever. Rough translation by me: Edo from Indonesia.
gile pake bhs indo intro awalnya..bener2 indo patut bangga..itu intro depannya lantunan berbau khas jawa bener, enak lho didengernya. Ciao Anggun, tetep bw nama bgs Indo di International.
this is a seriously difficult song. but she nailed it on LIVE performance. unlike some singers *wink wink* anggun, thanks for bringing indonesian music and sounds to the international level.
wow I was proud of her ... she's my old friend when she was kid in Jakarta . She was very skinny ... now she's very beautiful , and her voice more sexy ....I think Anggun still remember Jl. Tegalan . Muach we are luv u.....
This girl has more spirit than Britney, Chritina and all the rest put together. I love her performance. Just happen to discover her on Youtube. Great. what a singer!!
Kuharap mentari pagi, tak menyambutku Kuharap sinar rembulan, tutup mataku... selamanya Sejak kau pergi, tinggalkan bumi, tinggalku di sini Turunkan matahari Usir bintang-bintang Shun the stars away Putarkan utara ke selatan Untuk apa lagi semuanya Ambillah jiwa retak ini, ku tak ingin lagi Putuskan ari-ari bumi, aku ingin pergi Menuju abadi...selamanya

Thank you for posting this outstanding performance. She and the band are phenomenal. Is Gildas Arzel the lead guitarist? It's hard to believe this aired in the USA way back in '98. I thought a new era of great music was about to dawn.
I like Anggun she has mellow songs to listen. I feel like plowing the rice fields in my mountainous hometown on Panay Island, Philippines! swimming in the river with neighbors and picking guavas in the mountainous area of my town. I love you Anggun you have an avid listener and fan here from the PHILIPPINES! please watch LANI MISALUCHA of the PHILIPPINES, too. She's a diva like Anggun both of them have achieved something!
Some ppl predict Anggun will get big in the US. Sadly to say I don't think so. I don't think she'll make it in the States. One being too many competitions and two being the murky relations between France and Etats Unis. They don't like each other.
If I am not mistaken, back in 1999 (or was it 1998?) she did have a song on the radio in the States, "Rose in the Wind" and the Snow on the Sahara album was also released here. It didn't do very well...honestly, most pop is manufactured here, also, there is no market for this kind of music. Which sucks. Record execs only want to hear the same bullshit over and over again.
I uploaded A Rose In The Wind twice, and twice it was taken down by YouTube, who said they had had a complaint about copyright. Yet all the other videos have no problems. I don't understand it. The record companies STILL do not understand that we are helping to do their job for them: We are helping to promote their artists... That's why we put them on YouTube: Because we love them. They are SO stupid!
I wish the sunshine did not welcome me.. I wish the moonlight, shut my eyes for good Since you have left, leaving the world, leaving me here. Put down the sun Shun the stars away Turn the north to the south Nothing matters anymore Take away this cracking soul, I dont want it anymore Cut the life from the world, I want to go to the eternal .. forever :)... this is really rough.. enjoy..
bought Open Heart Album soundtrack from Anggun at favourite store in Amsterdam for B'day of a friend and had a long nice conversation with shop keeper bout her beauty of looks and voice and he said he's the most beautiful woman in the world, anggun what a beautiful creature in the world
hmmm is it just me or she seems to be singing for a past love, just like "Still reminds me". Snow on the sahara seems like a song for her special someone too.
whoever that guy is I wish it was me. I can only dream lol
eventhough she`s french now, the way she sings in indonesian with indonesian traditional singing style, and with beautifully chosen indonesian poem-like lyrics, she doesn`t forget her roots at all. anggun, jangan lupa akarmu yah! yuuu. as to exoticloon, anggun is not the only indonesian singer who goes international. search for yourself, silakan.
Opening song is called "Selamanya". TRIVIA: Her dance moves are taken from a traditional Balinese dance. The song "A Rose in the Wind" is sung to the tune of her Indonesian song "Kembali" which means "welcome".(different lyrics from A Rose in the Wind.)
Actually Kembali means "return to", "come back" and "Welcome (you're)". It depends on where and how you say it. I spent a lot of time in Jakarta in my 20's.
My pleasure Devvo, please enjoy. However, I feel it's only fair to point out that I downloaded them from another website. I think the site is called anggunworld.com... Enjoy :-)
When she was young she sang' she's gone' perfectly. So...yeah no lips synch..i think it's just because the language...i like indonesian version though
OMG! I never really listened to her before...I guess there's one reason that she's the only indonesian singer that has gone international: SHE IS AMAZING
An attempt to translate Selamanya literally & loosely. I'm a Malay speaker & I'd say this translation isn't the absolute. Just for the fun of it, here goes:
i don't know what ari-ari means,, i speak bahasa melayu/malaysia... i don't think these words have a significantly different meaning in bahasa indonesia... thanks for your excellent translation!
The first song's in Indonesian, called Selamanya (Forever) and i doubt any lyp-synching going on. The track's included in her debut Snow on the Sahara.
Thanks Maggotinabin. I thought it was probably indonesian, as she obviously is indonesian. The language sounds similar to Malay (to me). Would you agree? Thanks for posting. Mark
I keep watching this video every single day, the live instruments of the second song is just amazing, I love her, her songs and her single performance, been my favorite since her first hits back home. Since I live in the Netherlands I couldn't really see her time to time live performances on tv.
Did she lip-sync the first song? Cause the intensity immediately dropped as soon as she started "Rose In The Wind". Either the band is too loud or her mic isnt loud enough. I love her hand movements though, they're very alluring and hypnotic!
No there's no lip syncing going there - it's all totally live. I think you are right about the band though - I think they were probably a bit loud - I can't see any stage monitors in front of her, to allow her to hear her own vocals above the band, so I guess once the music started full on, she couldn't hear herself too well. What a performance though, eh?
BTW: IF you like the hand movements, check out the Snow On Sahara - putting the fact that it's just a brilliant track to one side, she looks lovely in it, and you're right, the hand movements do add a certain 'thing' to it - an almost Bhuddist type quality! Thanks for posting.
something happens to the sync on many of the youtube posted videos, which throws off the video to audio matching. That's probably why you thought it was a lip sync job on her part. This one is pretty closely matched. I've seen some horrendously mismatched videos on here.
oh no, the sync is fine. I just noticed a huge change in the intensity of her voice from the first song to the second. The first performance was flawless but second one was a liiiiiiiiitle bit off-key which is why I thought she lip-synced to first one. Also the second song started with a very low note, so that's probably why there was a big change in intensity. Thanks to MarkWillsUK for posting her videos, keep em coming!
your performence is reminded me to enrique ...love you a lot anggun hopefully you will sing together with him

oh no, the sync is fine.
