The same people who made the Bellagio Fountains made the Dubai Fountains. Their company is called WET design. So they didn't copy. I think the purpose of it was mostly for tourism. I don't think about the political aspect of it. I have been to the Bellagio Fountains myself and they are beautiful. I would go to Dubai just to see the fountains in person. Every country has their own problems and every country has their own beauty at the same time. :)
@bairaktaris To be honest, when I went to Las Vegas, I heard more people speak another language than English when I was at the fountains. People from all over the world go there. Dubai is almost the same without all the gambling and stuff. They mostly thrive from tourism and that is how they make the city run. If it weren't for tourism, Dubai would be a whole different place. Before Dubai was nothing but a small town. And now look at it. It is a beautiful place. The bad side about it is labor.
Does it really matter which one is more better? They are both great works of technological art.
My opinion is the Bellagio is more classy with the hotel as a backdrop and the Dubai fountains has more power to it, since it is the largest fountain in the world.
Thank you for the post. In my opinion, the fountain in Las Vegas, is result / aftereffect progress of the Western World with liberal political values. This is not the case in the Arab World.
(To avoid misunderstand: The Arab world has other political-cultural values, fully respected).
If anyone watched the fountain show on the spot, at Las Vegas and Dubai, perceiving directly the difference between the result of a political-cultural system, from one side, and copying, from the other side.
The difference in the enjoyment of watching the spectacle of fountain, it is tragic.

+1 Las Vegas. It's an insult to even compare such a great city as Las Vegas and its history to that copycat city.

I know that the same company made both Fountains.
I'm not talking about copying technology, talking about copying cultural codes.
It is not the same watching the "gurgling" and "free" water from the fountain next to a woman in burqa.:)
