  • Thanks Betty! I hope to learn more from your sharing videos~i am a newer of a cook, I can't wait to learn more! God Bless you!

  • Dear Betty, As I am pure vegetarian, this is one of my favorite dish with dosa(an Indian food). We usually make our food more spicier. Your kitchen looks clean and arranged. Thanks.

    Kartha:)

  • @kartha789 Thanks for your lovely comment! I really appreciate it!

  • Hey Betty:) I was wondering can I use dried beans, soak them over night, cook them of course then add them to the chili? Will that effect the cooking time of the chili or anything?

  • @nikiandkinda That will be just fine; you won't need to adjust anything in the recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • Yummy!

  • @Celise2012 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • If you really want it to be spicy use habaneros.

  • @NecroKult763 I'm sure that would take the spiciness up a notch!

    --Betty :)

  • I made this except not spicy and it's delicious :) Thank you <3 You're so sweet.

  • @LittleMisss15x That sounds great! Thanks for your lovely comment!

  • @MrMetuber1 Thanks for the thought...

  • Like the recipes but I use CAST IRON or crock pot rather than tephlon.

  • @EarthGameOver I love cooking with cast iron and crock pots. I realize that not everyone has those, so I use a variety of cookware in my videos. I hope each person will choose the best utensils they have for the recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • If eating that chili will give me a figure like yours then I'm off to the kitchen!!

  • Hi Betty! Happy New Year!!!! I made the chili and I served it with your onion and cheese cornsticks (I made them in a muffin tin). To that I served grated cheese, crackers and a spinach-tomatoe-salad with rasperry-mustard vinaigrette. It was delicious! My sister, her boyfriend, my son and myself loved it! thanks for the great idea of a vegie-chili :-)

  • @missjaysesteem That sounds like a great meal combination! Thanks for your lovely feedback!

I love watching your videos because you take the time to really explain and demonstrate your recipes thoroughly and for the kitchen-challenged individuals like myself, it's very helpful. • is there any of ur recipes that dont require using any refined sugar, etc? and oil? cause well i dont like oil...the texture..and healthy consious as well..so when i cook my fish i use dry fry..and a lil soy to flavour it and if i make veges i just boil or steam them..

  • You will find lots of recipes that do not use refined sugar or oil in bettyskitchen. For example, I have fish baked in the oven, which you might like, and lots of vegetables, fruits, soups, salads, and accompaniments. If you like your vegetables boiled or steamed, you don't need a recipe for those. Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • aH yes...well i want flavour...of course...without having to know that im eating oiled foods...i want unoiled foods that use recipes that has flavour..boiled veges hasnt got any...perhaps a non oiled recipe? that has flavour..i dont know which one to choose perhaps a suggestion?

  • For most of my vegetables, you can leave out the oil. If it is too dry, then add milk or water.

    --Betty :)

  • I appreciate the recipe for a vegetarian chili. I was dying to taste what you made. I am too lazy to do that.

  • The vegetarain chili is great! I hope you get an opportunity to taste it!

    --Betty :)

  • u need to have your own cooking show on the foodnetwork u rock

  • I have never made Chili for my family before so I might give it a go, I think they will like it because they are difinitely into hot & spicy, they love their curry so they should like Chili. I love the idea of liquifying the beans, that would help thicken it up also & give it more body. I like thick soups etc. My mother used to make the WORST watery curry, it was like curry flavoured water....YEUK! IShe couldn't cook...BLEURGH! I like to cook for my family and they like what I make for them! XXX

  • Oh, you must make chili sometime! This would be a good recipe to start with. It is really simple, and very flavorful. I tell people to watch out for the spiciness--it's very hot, so you may want to lessen the red pepper. I hope your chili comes out great!

    With love,

    --Betty :)

  • Looks fantastic! As much as I love chili with meat, I also enjoy a nice vegetable chili. This would be great this week since it's getting pretty brisk outside. Thanks for sharing =)

  • Yes, it was the weather that got me to thinking about chili. Everyone seems to love this version of vegetable chili--it is very hot!!! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I bet you were a great teacher and all the students loved ya. I wish you were my teacher growing up.

  • Teaching was a very good career for me! I miss it sometimes--maybe that's why I enjoy doing these videos so much! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Looks great,,it's very simular to my chili recipe ,,but i've never used beans blended. I do use the Cumin and other spices too, and your cornbread was a great idea with this!

I just made a vegetable soup simular to this which I will be posting soon.

I hope you are staying warm & healthy and having a wonderful weekend!!

    ~Blessings~~

  • Thanks for all of your lovely comments, Mera! I will be looking forward to your vegetable soup--I haven't done that--It sounds really good right now! I wish you a great weekend, as well!

    With warmest wishes,

    --Betty :)

  • Ymmmm, ymmmm! Awesome vegetable chili,...now about that other chili recipe, gonna check it out soon, i get the feelin' its just as AWESOME as this one!*****

  • My family thinks it's more awesome! (We like the meat flavor. It is not as hot & spicy as this vegetable chili--but you can heat it up by adding ground red pepper!) Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • look's great... you make such tasty looking dishes... i love all your video's ..keep making those great video's

  • Thanks for your sweet comment! I hope you enjoy this recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • odd it appears my message has not come through! i was saying how yummy the dish looks Betty. Here in Saudi it never gets cold, unless you go to the Eastern recipe. I will definately be trying this recipe sometime soon! by the way one of your measuring spoons is the same as mine!hope you and your family are well, send them my regards!

  • Hi Lucy,

Many of my comments (and everyone else's) have been "lost" by YouTube. I'm glad you like the looks of this recipe. It is really spicy, so you may want to cut down on the ground red pepper (or any substitution that you may use for that). My family and I are doing well; I hope the same for yours!

    Warm thoughts,

    --Betty :)

  • jeez betty.. you are still size 9? there much be some cooking secrets you can share.

  • ...uh, I've *never* been a size 9--size 4 at the most. My secret is mainly low fat/low sugar ingredients (if it doesn't affect the taste), small portions, nothing off-limits, and working out. There! My secret's out!!!

    --Betty :)

  • betty you need some meat in that chilli! no one likes a lady thats a bag of bones!

  • Hi!

I do have a chili uploaded that has plenty of meat! Just do a search in bettyskitchen and it should come up. It's called Betty's Family Favorite Chili with Beans Recipe. I think you will like it!

    --Betty :)

  • this looks soooo good betty!!! love love your blouse :) hope you are doing ok. and i hope u have a great weekend. doing anything fun?

  • Thanks, Ben!

Yes, I'm fine! We are at an intermission in a long movie. I hope your weekend is great!

    --Betty :)

  • it's so cold today in Vermont it's only 40 F it's kind of cold for Fall I mean yeah this recipe is great!!

    Thank you so much Betty

    - Chantalle

  • Hi Chantalle!

It sounds like great chili weather in Vermont! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks really scrumptious, Betty. I may try it today. :-)

  • Hi Jimmy!

If you try it, be prepared to have a *flaming hot* mouth! (I have a feeling you can take the full amount of ground red pepper. I loved it, being that hot, but I did have some Mexican cornbread along with it to diminish the heat.) I hope you enjoy the recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

I am making it right now. It is certainly very spicy, Betty. I do not have this ground red pepper that you speak of. Instead, I added hot paprika, which I thought must be pretty similar. I also added three red hot chilli peppers. :-)

  • Oh, I think yours will be plenty hot! And, I'm not to blame!!!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

Yes, it is really nice - hot and spicy. I decided to put it in a casserole dish, top it with cheddar and put it in the oven for a further 30 minutes. Everyone here loves it. All thanks to you, Betty. :-)

  • That sounds wonderful! I think I will make it again and try the cheddar topping. That would be fantastic! Thanks for the idea, Jimmy!

    --Betty :)

  • Yummy! Perfect for the cooler weather! A big bowl of this by a fireplace! Oh wow! And for me, the spicier the better! My mouth is already watering! Great recipe and video Betty! You look beautiful as always! ;-) Hugs and love to you and your family!

  • Hi Amy!

The weather is making me think of comfort food--and chili is at the top of the list with cooler weather! I hope all is well with you and yours. Thanks for your sweet comment! Have a lovely day!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks so much!!! that's what i call comfort food in a cold rainy day like this!!!

  • I think everyone is feeling like chili today--It looks so bleak outside, here in Kentucky! Thanks for your day-brightening comment!

    --Betty :)

  • OOOOOOO...that looks so good and today would be a great day for it. Thanks for sharing!!!!

  • You are welcome! Yes, today is dreary, and that makes me think of a great bowl of hot chili! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Glade you did this!!. I am a vegetarian, hope you can make more veggie or vegetarian meals

    Thank you BEtty...
