I love how they show supressed technology at car shows. They say hey you look what your not driving home next year. The electric car is supressed, look at Ev1. It was a hit and people loved it but corporations took it away. There was no money being made in taxes and gasoline sales. Simple math would show EV1 was a green car period. Hybrids are the only car allowed because it make gasoline sales and taxes. I wish things where different.

I like the sloped rear end. Looks like it could accommodate a very practical hatch design. Hopefully Chrysler takes that into consideration for the production model. Hatchbacks are so much more useful than a standard trunk. I'd like to see a turbodiesel option as well.

The American auto industry has not been able to compete with "foreign" automakers primarily because of its excessive labor costs. As Daimler-Chrysler, Chrysler cars improved a lot. Example: The 300C is an awesome product at a great price. But you can't pay your work force double what your competitors pay theirs and stay in the game. Daimler dumped Chrysler and gave up on running an American company with American labor contracts. Wake up UAW and save your industry by renegotiating your contracts.
though i agree that the UAW needs to back off / die, the automakers are also partially to blame as well, much as i love Ford... they along with the others obviously signed contracts.

You are mistaken about the labor costs. The Germans at Daimler,have a 35 hour work week,paid for 40. Hourly wages are higher than UAW. They receive 4 weeks vacation each year. Wages for UAW,and Imports are almost the same, around $18.00 per hour. The real difference is retiree pensions and health benefits. Big 3 have 750.000 retiree's. The Imports, have very few, because they haven't been in business 100 years. It's not the UAW, and it's not wages, it's HEALTH CARE they can't afford.

It is probably true that american auto workers are paid more than they should be, or that there are too many american auto workers. However, there is a drastic need for support to the american auto industry when millions of people could potentially lose their jobs.
If you want to go on a capitalistic approach to this, what's going to happen when so many well payed people lose their jobs? Millions will not be spending money, which is what America thrives on as a capitalistic society.

Chrysler products are some of the worst rated vehicles - so this one , first year, would be in the shop more than on the road.Not to mention the high cost and low resale.

Mitsubishi isn't a reliable manufacturer... in fact when DSM was still around, it was the chrysler engines that gave reliability, in general the mitsu engines, while powerful had a lot of shortcomings reliability wise.
It's always good to hope btw.

Wow American car makers can make a good looking car and not just hideous SUV's. 40 miles will get most people to work and back each day witch is pro about 90% of car use on one plug in. Add to this generating electricity even from coal is cleaner than burning strait gasoline per mile, so ANY improvement is good.
