Hey Jim, the made in China sticker means it was assembled in China because of the cheap labor. So it doesn't necessarily mean it was made in China. The parts come from different countries still under the direction of a Hawaiian company which in this case im not sure.

The tuning for the ukulele goes GCEA from the bottom string (closest to your thumb) to the top string (closest to the floor). The type of ukulele you have is a soprano, the smallest of the 4 sizes. The three larger are a concert, tenor, and baritone, respectively. It throws people off at first that on both the soprano and concert sizes, the G string is naturally tuned higher than the following 2.

The Tuning is G,C,E,A. Well thats the common tuning. If you know how to play piano. hit the G note then the C and so on to the the right sound 4 the string.

Put the uklele back in the box and take it back. All kiding aside the strings can be tuned to the stardard Hawaiian tuning G,C,E,A. G is the closet string to your nose. Get a Meiseil mCT-71 tunner so you can tune while others are playing.

There are many video's on youtube that will show you how to tune a ukulele. Jimdville shows how to do it with a tuning fork. Jon70 has a video that provides the tones like a pitch pipe - you can just tune to it.
