Although I am "white" and live in Tokyo, while not going so far as to say the movie is "full of prejudice and discrimination," (see above comments) it does seem to reinforce that "white mans' Asian fantasy-theme" that many movies about the East tend to keep re-hashing. I like "Lost in Translation" because it really does some up how a clueless foreigner probably sees a place like Tokyo, even if it does wander a bit here and there.

lol it's so cliché like Inju or the movie "enter the void" of Gaspard Noé if you go to Tokyo it's more like a manga in live, with a lot of color ^^ than a dark movie, but the actress is very good especialy in Liar Game season 2.

The song is a japanese version of La Vie En Rose, from Edith Piaf, but sorry, i don´t know who is the singer of that cover.
