Wow..that'd piss me off. No point to it all..wow...okay with this review I agree. I'd be pissed. "whore" LOL wow..dude. He does seem to hate women..especially ones named "Ms Marvel" XD Are you sure you didn't exaggerate what Daken does? I like Sentry btw..and Iron Patriot. but the comic does definitely seem BS for this issue.
Hey, Elliott and Jose, didn't Doom raise his Castle with a Cosmic Cube? 'Cause I saw in the preview of the Siege: Cabal that Doom 'ports into a cabal meeting via a Cosmic Cube. Where the Hell did Doom get a Cosmic Cube?
I totally agree 100% about what you guys said about Matt Fraction. He writes Emma Frost like no other and he writes female characters really well too. I have not bought a single Bendis avengers book off stands but i definetely will buy DA#7 and 8(maybe even 2 copies!!!)
Well 'better' is a subjective term. We all have our opinions as to who is good, batter. better or worse. So while I might think one writer is 'better' than another, you might disagree. Second, if you have to be 'better' at something to have an opinion on it, then I guess movie critics and sports columnists should just shut up since they can't do what they people they criticize are doing.
And lastly, yeah, you're right...Bendis is a much better writer than I am. :-)
i know elliot, seeing how tommorow is wednesday and there is alot of other books coming out (including bendis books) tommorow that i want to pick up i will not pick dark and new avengers up. consider tommorow day one for me of letting go of these unnecassry books.
I am glad to see Fraction is also writing Dark Avengers #8, but unfortunatley that will be it for him, since he is only writing those issues due to the Utopia storyline. I hope guys will be reviewing Dark Avengers #7 and #8.
Anytime mbell. Also if you want to check out something different Vertigo released a new series yesterday called The Unwritten. It was ONLY $1 and was 48 pages to boot. I thought it was great.
did you guys get a chance to read Life and times of Savior 28. Just curious because I ordered it the other day and I wanted to know what to expect thanks guys.
Ah, yes, I got a chance to read #2 yesterday. We were sold out of #1 though. I liked it. Kinda humorous while being kinda depressing at the same time. If you're not expecting too much I think you'll be nicely surprised. Let me know what you think after you read it mbell.
I liked Powers in the beginning but it didn't hold my interest for long. I haven't gotten around to reading the Halo mini. I'm not a fan of the game or of Bendis so it didn't really interest me. Plus it took like a year and a half to get 4 issues out. That's too long to wait.
I think what killed the LaFaye Arc was the time travel thing. Bendis should have read a Astro-Physics Book before he wrote the issue. I feel Bendis saw that it just didn't make sense. His editors may have told him to just wrap it up and move on. The Sentry's 'return' was dumb too. Shouldn't he have stayed 'cause the Dr Doom going back in time negated everything? Whatever, After this stupid arc hopefully Bendis will be kicked off now and Fraction can get an early start with D.A.# 5 instead of #7
I am a Wolverine fan, but at times he definetly is overrated. He being on every marvel super-hero team, is Wolverine being overrated. Now, his son Daken, is going to be the overrated villian in the marvel u. If Wolverine is on a team, Daken is on the evil version of it. OVERRATED!
I don't know if you guys have heard of a comic called the life and times of Savior 28...I've heard its pretty good. I've been debating whether I should pick it up, if you guys can find it could you possibly review it on your show or tell me what you guys think of it if you've already read it. Thanks a lot
ultimate spiderman is really good, bendis best work at the moment in my opinion, i think you are being hard on bendis but we all have opinions, i like ultimatum and i know you guys hate it. Any chane of an issue 4 review when its out?
About the Wolverine movie: I saw it last night and I've to say that the movie was amazing or anything but he was bad! Right that all of the characters are killed in their second time they shown and that what they have done to deadpool is unforgivable and the fight scene with him was bad but the first half of the movie was good and the rest wasn't but the 3 ends ( Xavier, Japan and the return of Deadpool ) were fine and give some hope for the next movie and Deadpool spin off. my rant is 6 of 10.
The story titled "Weapon X" was written in "Weapon X", by 1991 in "Marvel Comics Presents" #72 - 84. It was recently collected in a hardcover edition.
This series is so bad! The art is to much dark, the "storyline" in the first four issues was stupid and the way it was writing was even worse then the art! And next issue is the stupid story about Marvel Boy, one of the Dark Avengers members that no one know what to do with. In every book I picked up in which the dark avengers upper Marvel Boy and Doken didn't spake even ONE LINEEEEEE! so why putting them in this them?
Luckily I'm related to the guy at my local comic shop, so I get everything like half off, so I figured, hey, why not pick up Dark Avengers, maybe it won't suck.... worst decision of my life, I will never distrust you again CCW :( I'll stick to 'pool kicking Bullseye's ass, and invincible iron man... oh, and I kinda read thunderbolts.... I'm just ready for this Dark Reign shit to be over tbh, I hope Steve Rogers makes an epic return and cuts osbourne's fucking head of with a toothpick....
Magnificent review, CCW! You guys didn't point this out your review, but did you think Osborn was portrayed oddly out of character when he and Doom were about to return to the present? I've never seen him act so childish in any other comic or iteration...ever.
No ur right Matt Fraction is writing Dark Avengers 7-8, Uncanny 213-514, and 2 one shots for the Utopia crossover. If Marvel gave Matt Fraction Dark Avengers to write I will shoot myself multiple times if I have to read another title like Iron man or X-men(which it appears i'm in the minority in). I love Dark Avengers. Great art, great set of characters, and it actually feels like a team book unlike New Avengers.
Why exactly do you dislike Fraction's Iron Man (can't ask the same about X-Men cause I'm not reading it). Not trying to be confrontational, just genuinely want to know.
The story is very thin, offering old rehashed concepts(tony's company being destroyed), and the concepts he does make are really stupid like Iron Pepper Potts. The story is driven by mindless action(thank god for Salvador Larrocca), I also don't think that Matt Fraction really understands Tony Stark's character at all.
Well seeing how I think that Invincible Iron is the best Marvel book and Dark Avengers in one of the worst in the entire industry I will be very happy to read Fraction's take on the team. But that's just my opinion.
I dunno if Fraction can possibly beat BMB in sales. I mean, I doubt issue #7 will do substantially less in sales seeing as I'm sure it has a ton of regular readers, but I'm not so sure we'll see a marked increase unless everyone stops being retarded at once.
How does Invincible Iron Man (which I absolutely love, btw) do sales-wise?
I'm guessing the numbers will depress me, but maybe its managed to hold on to the new readers I assume it picked up after the movie came out (seeing as it seemed to be timed exactly for that purpose). I don't really give the general comics readership much of the benefit of the doubt anymore, though.
I'll do you guys one better...let's get Warren Ellis on the book because wait...Dark Avengers is basically Thunderbolts anyways! And towards your suggestion of Fraction, I'm still pretty meh about his work on X-Men (Sisterhood of Evil anyone?). Dark Avengers just seems like gimmicky book that's lost it's gimmick.
Damn I just notice all the books I buy nowadays are none Marvel and DC titles. Mark my words the Independents are going over take the Mainstream, maybe not today, maybe not in the next 5 years but it will happen.
you guys are right i went against your judgment and continued reading dark avengers and this issue convinced me to stop buying it even though i already spent my money on all the issues so far so to bad for me lol. this issue really let me down the only thing that thought was good was when the sentry came back but it wasnt really note worthy like you guys said. oh yeah i barely started reading comics and the only comic i picked up was dark avengers and that let me down so what would you recommend
If you haven't noticed yet, I think you should be reading Invincible Iron Man. I was not a huge fan of the character until that title started coming out itsmeMorph.
Some other Marvel books I currently like are Thunderbolts, Deadpool, Destroyer, Agents of Atlas, Secret Warriors and Exiles. Check some of those out if you have the money.
I definantly agree with Invincible Iron Man, Deadpool, and Thunderbolts (started reading after magnum opus) and my friend started reading secret warriors again after he got mad at the series (can't remember why) so I might start reading that...
His ultimate spiderman was pretty good but its been like 2 months since the last issue heh. Fraction > Bendis. I thought DA 3 was OK and that maybe it was going to get better but 4 was such a fucking a joke. Invincible Iron 13 was great though. (like always)
Ultimate Spider-Man is probably Bendis' best book. Haven't read his New Avengers and Dark Avengers stuff recently because its $3.99 and I refuse to pay that much.
the only books I'd be willing to pay $3.99 for would be Invincible Iron Man and Ultimate Spider-Man. By the way, have you guys read IIM#13 yet? I thought it was great.
Well, that was my problem with it. The decompression of story telling was ridiculous. I didn't feel like paying for 6 issues worth of Bendis' stories when any other writer could have told the same story in 1 or 2 issues.
Wow..that'd piss me off. No point to it all..wow...okay with this review I agree. I'd be pissed. "whore" LOL wow..dude. Bendis is a great Plot Designer and THAT is why his work in Avengers is selling SO well.
Beacause hype about story arcs travels far and creates INTEREST in comics.
HOWEVER -YEARRRHHSS - he cant write for shit!!! lolz :P
I think he would be happier getting paid the same to be the Plot Designer Guru and let someone else write for it. -EVERYONE WOULD BE HAPPY!

but back to bendis.
why does his work on dark-avengers suck so much.
even a 4 issue mini of HALO ( called uprising) is to much for him 'cause man he fucked that up. ( what did you guys think of that series?)
But his work for the Marvel Icon imprint called Powers is no more then great!
what the fuck bendis?
seriously what did you think of Powers?
and right now i'm stil hoping that the dark-avengers/uncany xmen event wont suck and believe me. I'm scared as shit.
