  • Wanna know why they're called Whale Sharks ? :D

Because they're as big as whales!!!!!!

    DA DUM DUM

I'll be here all week :)

  • Good Video

  • I like It

  • Those things are so big, they could show up on radar as a submarine. Lol.

  • Want one for christmas.

  • i want a sharks fin soup from that!!!

  • My favorite type of fish posted on my birthday and my favorite channel!

  • sharkrip

  • I love how half the people are all..,man he's brave for going near that shark.

But really whale sharks are harmless and only eat small fish.

  • interesting. But I thought I heard blue whale was the largest?

  • @mttp88 i imagine it's the distinction between mammals and fish. the blue whale is a mammal, whilst "whale sharks" are actually sharks, and the "whale" is reference to their size, but they don't actually breath air

  • @mttp88

The blue whale isn't a fish.

  • WHEN IS THIS VIDEO COMING OUT !!!! THE DARK ENERGY VIDEO CAME OUT BEFORE THIS TELL ME THOMAS !!!!!

  • I hate the ocean, I don't know what the heck is down there and if something wants to have my for lunch there is nothing I can do. You divers have brass balls man...

  • 0:18 Come on SpaceRip! That is misleading! Most whale sharks only grow to 13 meters in length. Even the largest have never exceeded 17.5 meters!

  • @N00bcrunch3r

Right, besides that, many things ARE known about whale sharks like they swim slowly, they have human-like lifespans, they feed mostly on plankton and small fish and are very caring parents. The first one was discovered (harpooned) in 1828 so we know about them for a long time. U can find all this and more info on wikipedia.

Stop making sensational claims just to promote some new documentary.

The truth is whale sharks are just BORING :P.

  • @mancamiatipoola

I am not promoting this documentary. I am criticizing it! I just find it hilarious when people ALWAYS find a way to complain about my attempts to provide accurate information, regardless of whether it is correct or not.

  • @N00bcrunch3r

I was talking to the makers of this video, mate.

    It was just a misunderstanding.

  • like the video and think the guy was a litte scared.you cant out swimm a shark.

  • pretty brave to mess around with them big beasts like that

  • Awesome video! Noble effort SpaceRip, think we need more such videos to bring awareness to people. Keep up the awesomness guys.

  • I thought Blue Whales were the largest. :(

  • @Daeconian Whales are the largest mammals, whale sharks are still technically fish.

  • @KittySheep Nothing "technical" about it: They're just fish.

  • these are the biggest sharks I've ever seen

  • Yea...but does it blend?

  • LOL the guy didn't look like he was so sure about tagging that whale shark. If it gets pissed..

  • You all deserve way more than 89000 subscribers

  • It's a humanitarian crime that gate-keepers across the world are allowing the death of the ocean. So much ready-done, evolutionary, problem-solving is done in the creatures and lifeforms down there..

Their continued life cycles from our common ancestors are worth more from study than dead and decaying..

  • For how long the transmitter attached to the shark operates? Few weeks, months?

  • this is cool and all, but WILL THEY BLEND?!

  • Comment removed

  • i want one

  • WOW huge little fella! :)

  • Love the background music.. thanks for the video.

  • It looks great. I just don't understand why it's on SpaceRip. I don't want this channel to become diluted with other subjects like what happens to some specialty channels on TV. I come to this channel to see your awesome videos on astronomy. I apologize, I don't mean to rag. I just don't want to lose SpaceRip like music lovers lost MTV. (or MuchMusic here in Canada)

  • @bctallgirl MTV = spaMTV

    MuchMusic = notsoMuchMusic

  • MADE IN ECUADOR!

  • it's called "BUTANDING" there are lots of these creatures in the Philippine Sea

  • Damn that is a big fish!

  • Wow awesome i love nature and space!

  • yes please find all this out and release this information to the general public so whalers can find them and start killing these creatures off too......humans are the cancer of this world we destroy everything we come in contact with.

  • SeaRip! Epic.

  • Thanks SpaceRip, this is just beautiful !

  • i luv you spaceRIP!!! my fav channel to be edumacated.

  • Are they filter-feeders? I don't know much about sea life, but the shape of their mouths suggests they are, to me.

They're magnificent animals. How fortunate those divers were, to swim so close to them.

  • I really appreciated this video, thanks a lot for posting it.

  • I like how giant species are so gentle

  • @TosiValhe cause they aint got shit to fear :P

  • Are SpaceRip videos shown on any TV channels or other media outlets other than YouTube?

  • sharks go mad distances for pussy. i just go to spacerip

  • God i still cant get over how big that fish is

  • sea rip?

  • facebook are you kidding me!

    35

  • God damn imagine having a little dive with ur friend and this shark come towards you. LOL, I'd seriously pass out or something

  • i'm like panicking for the people in the water just watching this video... beautiful though :) but sharks are freaky. around 2:00 are those babies?? they are so little in comparison!!

  • @diagnosedpsychosis no, they're probably just pilot fish...

  • @diagnosedpsychosis

Whale sharks acre actually quite gentle and will even let divers catch a ride on them sometimes. Whale sharks only eat krill and small fish.

  • i'm like panicking for the people in the water just watching this video... beautiful though :) but sharks are freaky

  • They look small from the video (to me). But in books I read there huge!

  • Human beings are SO doomed. Space is hostile and more vast then we can imagine let alone THINK we can travel around in it... and yet we are destroying the BioSphere like there is a back up home somewhere... very scary.

  • Can you see one from space?

  • whale sharks /= space

  • @quaxk what about space sharks?

  • @Dreagon22 yeah, space sharks work, also, the killer whale sent on the moon by the mexicans :)

  • o god , they are so big

  • I wanna hug it! :3

  • This is so COOL!!!!!!!

  • gotta love their facial expession -_____- lol

  • Comment removed

  • You'd never catch me poking some the size of a bus with a spear.

Hows that man not sinking with those giant steel balls he has?

  • I thought these were one of those videos where they talk about extinct animals from 1000000 years ago or myth animals, I'm so glad it's real.

  • InnerSpaceRip!

  • First we are fascinated.

    Then we find out more.

Then some idiots eat their genitals and fin.

Then we say they are a myth.

  • Amazing footage! Uhm, not so amzing music production, though. But anyway, thanks for bringing such vivid and lifelike footage of these magnificent creatures! The shark crisis humans are creating needs plenty of more attention in the public conciousness, but any video displaying sharks in a positive manner helps raise awareness.

  • get ready for vid 200

  • I thought they were going to stab it at first...

  • wow! huge!!!

  • Goodbye redtube hello SpaceRip.

  • Great, sounds interesting, but where will it be uploaded?

  • Are you upload it somewhere in 2160p ?

  • next time... whales in space!

  • GREAT JOB. The quality of images make me feel so close to the ocean. What a really nice job.

I did post production for BBC Life, Q.A, and I can say that this one is together in terms of QUALITY!

    Please, keep posting.

  • Not space, but hell, I'll take it! Whale sharks are friggen cool!!

  • know wat? the sky reminds me of the ocean & sumhow the ocean reminds me of space, than what would space must be?? SpaceRip?

  • FROM THESE COMPANYS AND ALSO IF SHARKS DISAPEAR FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH THE HOLE FOOD CHAIN NDD EVERYTING IN THE OCEAN WILL COLLAPSE . • PLZZ READ DIS ASIAN COUNTRYS R KILLING MARINE LIFE BY THE SECOND ONE OF THE MOST CONCERN IS THE SHARKS. ASIAN COMPANYS KILL MORE 20000 SHARKS ( BIG OR SMALLL OR EVEN BABIES IN 1 HOUR) PEOOPLE IN AMERICA THINK SHARKS ARE AGRESIVE ANIMALS NO THEY DONT KILL THEY BIT ITS THE HUMAN FAULT FOR NOT BE CAREFULL AND NOT SWIMMING WITH OTHERS FACT: A VENDING A MACHINE KILLS MORE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD THEN SHARKS A YEAR. ASIAN COMPANY R KILLING BEATIFULL SHARKS JUS 4 MONEY ND THROWING THEM INTO SEE SO THEY

  • i wander if they taste good

  • Whenever i see "biologists" with animals, they mess around with them, attach a beacon, a necklace, capture it, etc.

They're like aliens abducting farmers to conduct experiments on them.

I sometimes wonder if they do this to save them, or if they're just selfish assclowns who can't properly appreciate (= observe, not disturb) the lifeforms they study.

  • @HiAdrian maybe the slight inconvenience of having a GPS attached (probably equivalent to you wearing a ring) is for the greater good of the animal (as are most other interactions), you cant protect something you don't understand. The abduction analogy is totally wrong because these animals are not being abducted and biologists learn more about animals in their natural environ so the motivation is not there to remove animals from the wild unless circumstances are expectational.

  • wait, what's the point of shooting in RED when you publish in 480?

  • @whosthisguythinkheis We'll have a 1080 version of a shorter, glitzier promo in a few weeks, and down the road the full production will be in 1080 as well.

  • @SpaceRip kool that makes sense.

  • Amazing creature

  • Those things are huge!

  • wonderfully!

  • stunning.

  • space rip?

  • I thing we can find these same sharks in icy oceans of Enceladus. I hope we go there soon and find fishes and debunk the very notion that life can exist only on earth.

    Cheers to human space exploration.

  • Kind of funny watching this huge fish monster swimming along minding his business then all of a sudden some guy swims up and pokes him with a stick.

  • wow....swim side-by-side with one of those mammoths??? you guys have got to be crazy

  • BEAU-tiful wow thank you for sharing

  • I do not like what I do, please gimme a job and take me with you

  • Odd choice in music...

  • Who disliked this video? He must have thought the Whale Shark was a Shark...

  • unfucking believable...

  • 0:50 lmfao the balls on that guy.

  • Space, Ocean...same thing right?

It's cool guys, this looks amazeballs

  • Aww, i was hoping for some space ;( still sick tho!

  • please can you do a video with the song that starts at 1:27 please

    SPACERIP FTW!!

  • Informative video , tracking life on earth is an amazing job ,but we still need many years to understand some aspects

  • The only thing I can complain about this video is that it doesn't have 1080p...

  • One question and please answer. Do you make your video's yourself, or do you get them from for example National Geographic or NASA?

  • Can hardly wait to see the full film

Even though it has nothing to do with space, I also love nature movies :)

  • @KimchiIsGood your dumb. these sharks arent dangerous at all.

  • @GranthamHQ That was unnecessary, i'm sure he was being sarcastic. Btw it's you're* when your type it, just think (you're - you are).

  • @ItsNotEvenSunny Grammar nazi, and it was completely necessary.

  • @GranthamHQ You know what else is necessary? Learning proper grammar if you're going to call someone an idiot.

  • @ItsNotEvenSunny nah its not tbh i type for speed and effectiveness whilst you sit that and try to act smart behind a keyboard, guaranteed if you sat an IQ test against me you score would be less.

  • @GranthamHQ That's wishful thinking. You're not fooling anyone.. how much "speed and effectiveness" is required in your 8-word sentence. Me typing with proper grammar has nothing to do with trying to act smart, it's as natural for me to type properly as it is for you to not type properly. Nice profile, some 19 year old who thinks he's smart, im in my 3rd year of college majoring in physics and astronomy, what the fuck do you do, genius?

  • I thought I was watching a video from National Geographic, but after I finished watching I saw that the video is actually from SpaceRip! How come you posted this kind of video?

  • @Heavyassalter We had done a Nat Geo film a few years ago in the Galapagos called "Shark Superhighway" about efforts to track hammerheads around the Pacific. In a sense, this is a continuation of that story, except that now we don't need NG to produce and show it. Much of the cinematography is with a RED camera, so it's exquisitely beautiful, so we just thought folks would be interested. When it's completed in several months time we'll likely put it onto a separate "Oceans" page.

  • @SpaceRip OceanRip awesome-o!

  • @SpaceRip will you release the 4k resolution video. I know I'm probably the only person watching this to even have the capability of watching it in 4k but please tell me there's a link to a download somewhere?

  • @Heavyassalter Lmfao I thought the same thing.

  • I fear that this information may be more harmful towards these creatures than to us. What with Shark fin fishing and depleting the oceans waters of all sharks. Of course anything affected towards the giant eco-system affects us anyway.

  • @Thereisalwaysmore You raise an incredibly important point. The film will ultimately present one of the up and coming ideas in conservation... which seeks to protect migration routes in addition to particular places.

  • @SpaceRip It will also help cuz it seems sharks in general arnt so spready out, they like certain areas more than others. If we cna find these areas for all sharks than we could put perm or anual bans on fishign within these areas.

  • The only sharks which look pretty nice and not like killers

  • I saw one of these brushing the under side of the Yacht Paradise in Israel, they are immense creatures and a real treat for any diver encoutering them. Breathtakingly beautiful.

  • Looks really nice! Would love to see the film.

  • WONDERFULL!

  • @krezzinger - woooohhaaaaa, you ain't getting me anywhere near an insect that is 100cm long. Not unless it comes in a nice hollandaise sauce! Going to look under the plant pots, see what i can find.

  • i applaud the idea, but what does this have to do with space? :P

  • Hey, I've been snorkeling where those guys are diving! Great preview, by the way!

  • Adult Sharks can grow up to 20 metres? That's like 19.9 metres more than i need to eat and i will never get the rest inside my freezer compartment. Nature always puts obstacles in the way of me getting my way. Talk about evolving defenses against predators.
